Chapter 735: Chapter 199: Bone Dragon Corps_3
Time was passing second by second. Regardless of whether it was the Pope’s Forbidden Curse: Eternal Light or the Dragon Power jointly released by the bone dragons, everything had been weakened to a certain extent. Although the Divine Wand lent its support, the Pope’s true Qi had dramatically declined. Finally, he couldn’t hold on any longer. After commanding the final burst of energy from the Eternal Light, he gently landed back on the peak. Ah Dai hurriedly rushed over to support the Pope’s somewhat swaying body, anxiously asking, "Grandpa, are you okay?"
The Pope seemed to have aged a decade in an instant, the lines on his face deepening. He sighed and said, "Everyone get ready. The bone dragons are likely to counterattack. I didn’t expect them to be able to accumulate such a formidable amount of energy." The final burst of the Eternal Light successfully countered the energy emitted by the Bone Dragon Corps but failed to harm any of them. The Pope knew that bone dragons not only possessed potent energy but also had incredibly powerful physical attacks. Without the threat of the Eternal Light, these dragons would likely launch an attack immediately.
The Pope’s judgment was correct. When the two massive waves of energy had completely dissipated, the bone dragons in the valley spread their huge wings and took to the sky. Led by the two Bone Dragon Kings, they swooped towards the group on the peak. Ah Dai felt a chill in his heart and sternly warned, "Everyone be careful, the bone dragons are going all out. Protect the Pope and the four red robe priests. Xiao Gu Tou, Sheng Xie, you should take to the sky too."
The Sumeru Sword appeared as Ah Dai concentrated his energies, its immense power causing a tremor in everyone’s hearts. Although they were up against the formidable Bone Dragon Corps, these were the finest warriors among humans. They were filled with a determination to fight till the death, with no thought of retreat. Sheng Xie let out a long and melodic roar, and, along with Xiao Gu Tou, took to the skies. Despite the strange feeling the bone dragons gave it, Sheng Xie had chosen to fight to protect Ah Dai. The seven golden horns on its back lit up simultaneously. Its frightful eyes emanated a fierce glint as it floated to Ah Dai’s left, with Xiao Gu Tou guarding the other flank. The two Bone Dragon Kings led the over two hundred bone dragons, surrounding the peak where Ah Dai and others stood within a few beats of their wings. Massive bone wings spread out, a layer of skin covering their surface, as they glared viciously at the group. One of the bone dragons, seeming restless, lunged forward without utilizing its unique breath, likely due to the significant energy drain from the pearly white energy accumulation. Instead, it used its body to hurl towards the Pope.
A flash of divine light sparked in Ah Dai’s eyes. Because of his quick speed, his body left behind a trail of afterimages in the air. Holding the hefty Sumeru Sword, he brought it down upon the top of the bone dragon’s head. Sensing the threat from the Sumeru Sword, the bone dragon’s green eyes sparked, and its massive bone claws made to meet Ah Dai. The incredible power of the Sumeru Sword, even beyond the bone dragon’s resistance, cut across the bone claw without any noise. As the golden light flashed again, the bone dragon’s massive body was sliced open by the sword’s glint, and it was blasted by the impact, falling from the peak with a loud roar.
Ah Dai was secretly alarmed. Although he’d managed to shatter the bone dragon, its defenses were surprisingly robust. His sword hadn’t severed the root of its life. He knew that, within the Death Mountain Range, the bone dragon could regenerate unless its bones were completely pulverized. Just as he was reflecting on this, a huge roar echoed throughout. Under the protection of many bone dragons, two huge Bone Dragon Kings emerged in front of everybody. No other bone dragons dared attack; they merely huddled together, seemingly waiting for a command from the Bone Dragon Kings.
As soon as the largest Bone Dragon King flew near the group, it noticed Xiao Jin and Xiao Gu Tou at Ah Dai’s sides. Its eighty-meter-long body trembled slightly, and an ancient and low voice resonated, "Humans, why did you attack us? You will pay for your actions." It was clear that this was the same ancient voice from earlier. A talking bone dragon was something no one expected.
Ah Dai, feeling the oppressive might of the Bone Dragon King, urged the life-sustaining True Qi within his body, levitating into the air. He coldly retorted, "You are undead creatures of the Death Mountain Range. We are here to eradicate the Church of the Dark Saint, the representative of dark forces. However, you are standing in our way. A battle is inevitable. For the sake of peace on the continent, we must reach the deepest part of the Death Mountain Range."
It was as if the Bone Dragon King hadn’t listened to Ah Dai’s words at all. He shifted his gaze towards Sheng Xie and Xiao Gu Tou, sighed and said, "I didn’t think there would be dragons left on this continent. It seems our kind is far from extinct. In consideration of our shared ties, you may leave. I won’t trouble you, but don’t return. We won’t let you pass through here again."
Ah Dai was slightly taken aback. He hadn’t expected the bone dragon to be so agreeable. However, after Harsfin’s lesson, he wouldn’t easily trust these undead creatures again. He coldly retorted, "We have to pass through here. Though I acknowledge the strength of your Bone Dragon Corps, we won’t back down. Even if it costs us our lives, we must stop the conspiracy of the Church of the Dark Saint."
The Bone Dragon King let out a long howl, seeming to have been enraged. Its power surge dramatically as it barked angrily, "Very well, since you’re courting death, I’ll grant your wish." The other, slightly smaller Bone Dragon King spread its wings, emanating a mighty aura matching that of the talking Bone Dragon King. Ah Dai could clearly sense that the combined power of these two Bone Dragon Kings surpassed that of Harsfin, an opponent he himself couldn’t handle. His heart sank. Were they doomed to die here today? Just then, Sheng Xie suddenly let out an angry roar. The seven golden horns on its back lit up suddenly. Standing erect, its wings fully extended, an audibly clear dragon roar echoed in the sky. Sheng Xie was muttering something incomprehensibly, a strange sound that none could understand, but it no doubt instilled them with awe. Ah Dai was startled. Sheng Xie’s behavior now was similar to that when they had broken out of the Dark City. Ah Dai knew through his previous exchanges with Sheng Xie that it was reciting Dragon Language Spells that only the Dragon Kings’ clans could use.
