Chapter 668: Chapter 185: The Dark Saint Attack_2

Ah Dai was stunned and said, "Let’s go and see. We’ll know once we ask." With that, he grabbed Xuan Yue’s small hand, lifted lightly into the air, and headed towards the defense circle of the Sacred Knights at the foot of the Divine Mountain. Just as they approached the outer defense, a loud shout echoed, "Halt! Who dares to intrude the Holy Mountain of the Church?" Upon spotting Ah Dai and Xuan Yue, hundreds of Sacred Knights quickly surrounded them. Their longswords were pointed at the duo, ready to attack at the slightest provocation.

The Sacred Knights were the lowest-ranking clergy of the church. They had never encountered Xuan Yue before, especially now that she was wearing a common light blue dress, and not her usual distinctive attire.

Her face softened when she faced Ah Dai, becoming surprisingly stern, she sternly said, "What has happened to the Church? I am the Red Priestess Xuan Yue."

A look of doubt infested the faces of the encircling Sacred Knights. Although they had heard rumors that the newly appointed Red Priestess Xuan Yue was a very young girl, and moreover, she was the daughter of the Xuan Ye Priest, they dare not easily believe her. The captain of the Sacred Knights ventured, "If you truly are Priestess Xuan Yue, could you provide proof of your identity?"

A chill ran up Xuan Yue’s spine. She knew something must have happened to the church for the Sacred Knights to be so tense. She nodded her head and said, "I can." With the wave of her hand, she entered her Space Barrier and took out her Red Bishop’s Robes, smoothly wearing it. Under her manipulation, a halo of golden light emanated from her body, forming a solid barrier around her in an instant.

Feeling the strong energy brimming with a Sacred Aura, the captain immediately believed Xuan Yue’s identity, quickly sheathed his longsword, and fell on one knee, saying, "Greetings to the Red Bishop."

Xuan Yue acknowledged him and said, "Stand aside, we need to go to the Divine Mountain and meet the Pope immediately."

The captain stood up, glanced at Ah Dai doubtfully, and said, "Could this gentleman also provide proof of his identity?"

Xuan Yue slightly frowned and said, "He is the Church’s most honored guest. Is my word not enough proof of his identity?"

The captain respectfully said, "Apologies, Bishop, this is an order issued by the Pope. No one is allowed to enter or leave the Divine Mountain freely. Those who leave must have a permission slip from the Pope, while those who enter must have a proof given by our Church clergy. This is a new rule. Perhaps you aren’t aware of it."

Xuan Yue puzzledly asked, "Has something happened to the Church? Why is the defense so tight?"

The captain said, "I’m sorry, Bishop, I’m only responsible for patrolling, and I’m ignorant of everything else. Please forgive me. In the absence of relevant proof of identity from your companion, we cannot let you through."

Ah Dai had no such proof of identity! He felt troubled and asked Xuan Yue, "What should we do? I don’t have proof of identity."

Xuan Yue sternly said to the captain, "Who is the commander on duty today? Call him to come and see me. I am the Pope’s granddaughter, do you still not trust me?"

The captain calmly said, "I apologize, Bishop, but even the most sacred clergy must not violate the Pope’s command. Our commander is currently patrolling on the other side of the Divine Mountain, and he might not be able to come immediately. Perhaps you could wait a while longer."

Xuan Yue’s patience was finally worn out, she shouted angrily, "We have important news to report to the Pope, but you’re barring our entry. If there’s a delay, who will be held responsible?"

The captain of the Sacred Knights was still as calm as ever, he said, "If I let you in, I will be immediately punished by my superiors. Guarding this place is my duty, please forgive me. I believe the Pope would not punish someone for fulfilling his duty."

"You . . ." Xuan Yue was enraged, a powerful Sacred Aura emanated from her, causing the surrounding hundred Sacred Knights to involuntarily retreat a few steps. However, despite Xuan Yue’s domineering presence, they did not show any intention of retreating, watching Xuan Yue and Ah Dai with unwavering eyes.

Ah Dai grabbed Xuan Yue’s arm and said, "Let it go, don’t make it hard for them, they’re doing what’s right. The church should indeed take pride in having clergy like them."

Under Ah Dai’s calming words, Xuan Yue’s anger gradually dissipated. She looked around at the Sacred Knights and nodded, saying, "Alright, so you’re not letting us in? I have other methods. Great God of the Heavenly Realm, please allow me to borrow your power and let your holy light shine upon the earth!" She lifted her Angel Wand high, a brilliant golden pillar descended from the skies, instantly enveloping the bodies of Ah Dai and Xuan Yue. Bathed in the Divine Light, Ah Dai felt emancipated in body and spirit, he smiled faintly and said, "Yue Yue, your Divine Energy has grown purer."

Xuan Yue said, "This should be the result of our recent trials. At such a dangerous place like the Death Mountain Range, it’s inevitable that our spiritual power has increased." She moved her Angel Wand in a circle, the golden pillar descended completely, and Xuan Yue sang, "With the Holy Light as the foundation, open the door of space-time, and take us to where we desire." The golden light converged sharply, and under the astonished gaze of the Sacred Knights, Ah Dai and Xuan Yue’s figures vanished completely. The captain lost his voice, "Not good, they must have entered the Divine Mountain. Quick, raise the alarm." One of his Sacred Knights immediately took out a golden whistle from his pocket, blew into it, and a sharp alarm echoed throughout the Divine Mountain.
