"Sheng Xie, speed up. We’re back in zombie territory. Yue Yue, don’t use the Light of Purification until the poison fog has risen to our position in order to avoid alerting them." While saying this, Ah Dai channelled his True Qi into Sheng Xie through the Golden Horn on his back. With the help of a vast amount of True Qi, Sheng Xie instantly picked up speed, and Olivia used her full power to maintain the Wind Magic she had casted around Sheng Xie, preventing any bit of aura from leaking out. The team managed to fly swiftly without attracting any attention from the green fog, and successfully made it through the zombie territory in about a quarter of an hour.
Ah Dai and Xuan Yue exchanged excited glances. Other than Olivia having used some Magic Power, they remained unscathed which bolstered their confidence. Just then, familiar blue figures appeared in mid-air. Recognizing them as the same Blue Spiders which had chased them the previous day, Ah Dai wished he could use Goshawk’s Fire Qi, as it would be the most effective weapon against these venomous spiders. As he contemplated the situation, Xuan Yue began to speak, "By the Phoenix’s Blood as a medium, wake up, immortal Phoenix." As she chanted, a bright red light appeared in Xuan Yue’s chest and a hot current circled her petite body. Clear phoenix cries echoed in the sky, a red light shot out from her chest, coalescing into the form of a flaming phoenix above her head, throwing the advancing Blue Spiders into a state of panic, the pace of their attack considerably slowed, clearly fearing the creature of blazing fire.
Kino of course recognized the spell, it was the same magic that Xuan Yue had used to defeat him. Even though he had improved considerably since then, he felt a twinge of fear facing this powerful Level Eight Fire Magic. With the amplification of the divine artifact Phoenix Blood, Xuan Yue was able to cast this magic without depleting too much spiritual power. Pointing with the Angel Wand in hand, she said coldly, "Go on, Immortal Flames of the Phoenix. Eliminate all perplexing evils in front and cleanse this aura of evil." The Fire Phoenix raised its prideful head, its cries echoing once again. It spread its rust-red wings, which spanned not less than five meters, and charged towards the panicking Blue Spiders. The spiders began to spew copious amounts of spider silk, creating a thick barrier of blue-webbing in an attempt to halt the Phoenix’s advance. While any other Fire Mage may fail to dispel these several layers of cobwebs woven by these cold undead spiders, the Fire Phoenix that Xuan Yue had summoned was different. It contained the sacred aura present in the Phoenix’s Blood. Facing this Sacred Fire, the cold undead spiders were destined to be the hunted.
"Swoosh -" Huge pillars of steam rose instantly into the sky. Under the impact of the Fire Phoenix, a large hole was punched through the spiders’ web. Under Xuan Yue’s control, the Fire Phoenix brought forth its full power, instantly bursting into the ranks of icy spiders. The leading dozen or so blue spiders instantly turned to ashes under its intense heat without even a chance to cry out. The rest of the spiders began to panic, and they quickly folded their wings, not daring to confront Ah Dai and the others. The Fire Phoenix continued its chase and decimated about one-tenth of the spiders before they could escape. They did not recklessly attack as the Bone Birds had done, and there was a reason for this. The Polar Undead Spiders were composed of aerially-capable Blue Spiders and terrestrial Fiery Undead Spiders. Both types of spiders not only complemented each other, but also restrained each other. Even though they were of the same species, they were hostile towards each other because their spider silk contained completely opposite energies. They were undead creatures with rudimentary intelligence and understood that a major conflict would result in mutual destruction. Therefore, in order to survive, their numbers could not differ too much. They didn’t have strong breeding capabilities and needed to absorb the life force of others to reproduce. Therefore, they desperately attacked Ah Dai and the others the first time they appeared in order to consume their life force. Now, with the introduction of Xuan Yue’s Fire Phoenix, the Blue Spiders understood that if they continued to resist, even if they could kill these humans, their numbers would drastically decrease and they would no longer be able to contend with the Fiery Undead Spiders. Therefore, they chose to retreat. Survival is paramount for a race, even for undead creatures.
Seeing that the Blue Spiders had retreated, Ah Dai hurriedly said to Xuan Yue, "Withdraw the Fire Phoenix. Don’t chase them any further. Conserve your strength."
