Chapter 635: Chapter 178 Undead Creature_2

The bone bird didn’t dodge as a misty grey aura suddenly emanated from its body, gathering in the shape of a defense shield. However, how could such a feeble creature withstand the might of Sheng Xie―its body and the grey aura were completely swallowed by the dragon breath of Sheng Xie without any resistance.

All quieted down again, leaving Ah Dai puzzled as he looked around at everyone, wondering: "Why is there only one? Is this the so-called undead army?"

Kino’s eyes suddenly reflected fear, "Quick, look! What’s that?"

Ah Dai was taken aback as he turned his gaze in the direction Kino was pointing. A large patch of grey mist seemed to slowly drift their way from the distance, and faint buzzing could be heard from within the mist. Ah Dai squinted at it, and as he made out what it was, he couldn’t help but gasp. That was not mist at all, but countless bone birds just like the one that came before. Their bodies were shrouded in a grey fog, appearing as a cloud of grey when looked at hastily.

"It’s a swarm of grey bone birds, everyone, be careful."

Xuan Yue, looking at the multitude of bone birds that was impossible to count, said solemnly: "Let’s descend to the ground, otherwise we’ll be surrounded by the bone birds and attacked from all directions."

Ah Dai nodded in agreement, "Alright, Yan Shi, Yan Li, keep an eye on any movement on the ground while the rest of us deal with the bone birds in the sky." At the appearance of a crisis, Ah Dai remained incredibly calm, unfazed by the sudden turn of events.

Under Ah Dai’s leadership, they quickly descended towards the ground. By the time they landed, the cloud of bone birds in the sky was already close. Ah Dai quickly turned to Xuan Yue, "Yue Yue, defend with Olivia. Sheng Xie, Kino and I will focus on attacking. The rest will stay flexible." With these words, his hands transformed into a giant silver sword, five feet long and half a foot wide, and fixated his gaze on the bone birds in the sky.

Without any hesitation, Xuan Yue immediately started chanting the defense magic spell, "Oh great Sky God! Please grant me your holy light, use your endless sacred light to uphold your majesty." A golden light suddenly shone bright. Xuan Yue raised his hands high, conjuring as if to uplift the heavens, the Angel Wand in his right hand gleaming with blinding light. A pillar of golden light, piercing through the dark clouds in the sky, landed accurately on the transparent gem atop the Angel Wand. In a blink, golden rays radiated bright, enveloping everyone within.

Without delay, Olivia filled in with the wind series level six defense spell, Wind Shield, while Xuan Yue was invoking the Holy Light for defense. Boosted by the Staff of Wind God, a swirl of fierce wind twists around them. Just outside the newly formed Holy Light appeared a turbulent gale, stirring up sand and gravel, making their defense network even more solid.

By now, the swarm of bone birds were closing in from above. They didn’t hesitate to lunge right at the protection barrier, ignoring its powerful forces. To relieve the pressure on Xuan Yue and Olivia, Ah Dai darted out of the barrier, charging straight into the bone bird swarm without hesitation. He wanted to see what exactly these so-called immortal undead beings were all about.

A silver glow suddenly shined brightly, and Ah Dai was encased in it as if he were a silver meteorite charging headlong into the swarm. The solid state energy generated by Life-force Transformation smashed and pulverized the hundreds of undeveloped bone birds in the front. The birds behind them were flung into chaos, with several hundreds of them being crushed against each other in the turmoil.

Ah Dai didn’t have to launch an attack, all he needed to do was to spread the Life-force Transformation’s solid state energy around him and the bone birds would recklessly ’rush to their deaths’ like moths to a flame. As a direct assault was launched on the bone birds, these simple creatures were completely drawn to him, disregarding Xuan Yue and the others. Thus, most of the birds charged towards Ah Dai.

The bone birds charged in intensely, but Ah Dai found himself capable of handling them. Relying solely on the sustainability of Life-force True Qi, the bone birds would absolutely be unable to break through his defense within a short amount of time. Ah Dai communicated through spiritual power to tell Sheng Xie to hold off joining the battle for now. Their first encounter with an undead creature led Ah Dai to decide to observe the characteristics of undead creatures while they weren’t up against a formidable foe yet.

Half an hour passed, and the attack from the bone birds showed no signs of abating. During this duration, Ah Dai noted that these flocking bone birds were probably the lowest level undead creatures in Death Mountain Range, because they lacked intelligence. Their attack on him and his group might simply be because they were attracted by their life forces. The bone birds, slightly smaller than the Azure Eagles, had a thin layer of flesh over their skeletons, which allowed them to fly. By now, nearly ten thousand bone birds must have smashed into the solid state energy shield generated by Life-force Transformation. Saving for those torn apart by Ah Dai’s energy sword, the birds smashed into small pieces didn’t revive. Those heavily smashed into dust had also disintegrated, but the ones that were only a bit broken showed a change - their fractured skeletons were still shrouded in black fog, and under this cover, they would regenerate into the form of a bone bird, fly to the end of the group and launch a new attack.
