Chapter 61: Chapter 16: Brutal Girl_4
Xuan Yue giggled and said, "That’s more like it."
By now, Kigg had brought back a pile of items. He divided the items in his hand into two portions and handed them to Ah Dai and Xuan Yue. He said, "Tell me your names and where you’re from, so I can register you." Seeing Xuan Yue excitedly looking at the items in her hand, Kigg prayed fervently to the Sky God, hoping that the little witch would be satisfied and leave quickly.
Xuan Yue, while going through the items in her hand, said, "My name is Xuan Yue. You already know where I’m from."
Ah Dai said, "My name is Ah Dai, and I’m from Stone Pond Town in the Xi Bo Clan."
Kigg nodded and said, "Alright. Miss Xuan Yue, you have passed the High-Level Magician certification. As the branch president of the Mage Guild, I hereby grant you the title of High-Level Light Magician. Ah Dai, you have passed the certification for Intermediate Magician. As the branch president of the Mage Guild, I hereby grant you the title of Intermediate Fire Magician."
Xuan Yue interrupted, "Wait, wait. How could I just be a high-level magician? Even if I’m not on the level of a Magus, I should at least be a grand magician. How did you test us?"
Kigg made a pained expression. "Miss, it’s not that I don’t want you to pass as a grand magician, but the title above grand magician can only be granted by the head office of the Mage Guild, located in the Province of Light in the Empire of Huasheng. My authority is just not enough!"
Xuan Yue humphed unsatisfiedly and said, "Fine, fair enough. The Province of Light is near our congregation anyway. I can go when I’m free."
Kigg knew that the two in front of him had no understanding of magician certification. He explained, "The items you have in your hands are a set of mage robes, a standard wooden magic wand that boosts magic effect by 1%, and a bag – embroidered with hexagrams – containing the monthly salary for this month. High-Level Magicians receive fifty Gold Coins, and Intermediate Magicians receive twenty. Keep it safe. Wait here for a while, I have to make you two magic cards, which will have your identities and names. Normally, you collect your monthly salary with these cards. If your mage robes get damaged, you can collect new ones from any Mage Guild." Finished saying this, he ran back into the room in the back before Xuan Yue could ask more questions.
Xuan Yue was clearly much more interested in the items in her hands than in Kigg. She put on her Mage Robes with a giddy delight. It was a white robe that almost completely covered Xuan Yue’s body with its oversized hood. As long as she kept her head down, her face would remain hidden even from someone across her.
Ah Dai, just a boy at heart, followed suit after seeing Xuan Yue put on her robe. He most hurriedly took off his Tian Gang Sword and put on his Mage Robes. He had a red robe which appeared slightly tight due to his tall stature, but he pulled it on anyway. He picked up the long wooden staff and looked exactly like what an Intermediate Fire Magician should.
Xuan Yue, excitedly, hopped around on the spot and chortled. "Now they won’t be able to find me! Brilliant! But this wand looks horrible, I don’t want it." With that, she casually threw the wand aside. For her, a wand that can only increase the power of magic by 1% was completely useless. After tossing the wand aside, Xuan Yue’s eyes landed on the big sword Ah Dai had placed on the ground. She asked, "You’re a magician, why do you have a sword? Do you also do martial arts? Can you even wield such a big sword?"
Ah Dai replied, "This is my Tian Gang Sword. I know a bit of swordsmanship."
Xuan Yue went over to the Tian Gang Sword. Crashing down excitedly, she reached for the leather bag holding the big sword. With her strength, she obviously couldn’t pick up the hefty Tian Gang Sword. No matter how much she tugged at it, the sword case didn’t move an inch. Xuan Yue, irritated, said, "What’s this, why is it so heavy, let me see."
Ah Dai sighed in resignation, having grown fearful of this young maiden. He just wanted to fulfil the annual agreement as soon as possible so he could return to Master Goris. He handed the Tian Gang Sword to Xuan Yue. Xuan Yue gripped the sword hilt with both hands and tried to draw it out but after struggling for a while, it did not budge.
Ah Dai managed to suppress a laugh, "Tian Gang Sword weighs over seventy kilograms. You are a magician, it’s understandable you can’t lift it."
Xuan Yue, panting and hands on hips, cutely scolded in a pretend anger, "What a stupid sword, bullying me. No matter what, you have to give me swordsmanship demonstration. Quickly! If not, I’ll... I’ll... I’ll cry!"
Ah Dai, with a woeful expression, said, "Alright, alright, I’ll do it". He drew out Tian Gang Sword and looked around. Thinking the walls inside appeared sturdy, he walked over. Kigg had mentioned that the walls here were covered in magic barriers and should be to strong. So, with the intention of demonstrating his swordsmanship by striking at the wall for Xuan Yue, he thought the demanding young miss wouldn’t let him off if not satisfied. But to his surprise, Kigg was referring to barriers against magic attacks.
