Harry laughed, "That’s really good, the furrows you dug are very neat. It’s been a good year for weather, after a few days once I’ve planted the vegetable seeds, we’ll certainly have a good harvest. Let’s go, I’ll take you back to the village."

Ah Dai said thanks, then turned to Mie Feng and said, "Uncle, I also have a companion."

Harry was taken aback, only then noticing Mie Feng standing not far away. How could he have seen such a beautiful woman in such a small place? He was dumbfounded.

Ah Dai said, "Uncle Harry, this is my companion, Mie Feng." As he spoke, he gave Mie Feng a look.

Mie Feng walked over to Ah Dai. Her usually cold face didn’t change, and she said indifferently, "Hello."

Even though Mie Feng seemed rude, the power of a beautiful woman is extraordinary. Harry hummed, "Hello, miss. I’ve lived nearly fifty years, and this is the first time I’ve seen such a beautiful girl, what a feast for the eyes! Come in, please. I’ll take you home." Saying this, he turned and led the way back to the village, not daring to look at Mie Feng anymore.

Ah Dai had a thought and suddenly had a strange idea. He wondered, if Harry saw Xuan Yue, who was even more beautiful than Mie Feng, what would his reaction be?

Under Harry’s lead, Ah Dai and Mie Feng entered the small village. Most of the villagers were out working, and the village was quiet. All the houses were constructed from wood, looking very rustic.

Harry’s house was a small yard with four or five rooms. The arrangement inside the rooms was quite simple, but very clean, giving a refreshing feeling. Peppers and corn were dried in the yard; these were their daily food.

"Have a seat, my wife and kids have gone out to work, they’ll be back soon. I’ll get you some water." After saying this, he turned around and left. Only Mie Feng and Ah Dai remained in the room. Mie Feng’s gaze softened significantly as she said to Ah Dai, "You looked very comfortable when you were working."

Ah Dai was startled, and said, "Comfortable? I felt comfortable too. If I could live in this small village for my entire life, that would actually be a good thing."

Returning to her icy demeanor, Mie Feng said lightly, "That’s impossible for you. Your life is now mine."

Ah Dai closed his eyes and said, "No, it’s not yours yet. Not until the Assassin’s Guild is eradicated from the mainland, then you will have the right to take it." The two fell back into their usual silence, and the wooden house was quiet.

After a while, Harry returned with a pot of tea. He smiled slightly, "Here, try our local mountain tea. The taste is quite good."

Sipping mountain tea, both Ah Dai and Mie Feng felt a sense of transcendence. As the sun gradually set, Harry’s family returned home one after another. Harry had two sons and one daughter. The eldest daughter was already married and didn’t usually come home, while the two sons were a few years younger than Ah Dai and were not yet married. When they saw Mie Feng, their reactions were surprisingly similar to Harry’s, they were even more taken aback, almost salivating.

Mie Feng looked at the two startled young men in front of her and said impatiently, "What are you staring at? Haven’t you seen a beautiful woman before?"

Both young men exclaimed in unison, "Exactly! We’ve never met a beauty quite as exquisite as you."

Mie Feng abruptly stood up from her seat, exuding killing intent. Ah Dai, sensing this, quickly stepped in front of Hak’s two sons and whispered, "What are you doing?"

Mie Feng coldly snorted and tore a piece of cloth from the bottom of her top, covering her face. "Don’t blame me for being rude if you keep staring at me," she issued.

The simplicity of Hak’s two sons couldn’t hide their tense silence the moment they regarded Mie Feng’s cold gaze. Hak cleared his throat and said, "You boys are probably tired from working all day. Go rest for a while, I’ll call you out when it’s time for dinner." The two simple youths hurriedly left the room as if acquitted.

Addressing Mie Feng, Hak said, "Miss, don’t be angry. Your beauty is indeed too striking. I fear our villagers can’t resist the temptation to gaze at you! I’ll go help my wife with cooking." Having said this, he turned and left the room. Ah Dai noticed that Hak seemed somewhat displeased with Mie Feng. However, since Ah Dai needed Mie Feng’s assistance, he couldn’t scold her too harshly. Ah Dai coldly snorted and closed his eyes.

During the meal, Mie Feng, with her face now veiled, provided less distraction for Hak and his son. She only ate a little before she retired to the room Hak had arranged for her rest.

Watching Mie Feng leave, Hak whispered to Ah Dai, "Little brother, what exactly is your relationship with this frosty beauty? Is she the unfortunate daughter of some noble? Why on earth is her temper so volatile? What’s your relationship with her? She might be dazzlingly beautiful but I promise you, having such a wife would guarantee lifelong misery!" At this, Hak burst into a hearty chuckle.

Ah Dai’s face flushed as he replied, "No, we’re just ordinary friends. Don’t misunderstand. She’s not a noble lady, just a bit quick-tempered." Ah Dai’s appetite was sated with the simple coarse food provided by Hak and his family, which felt like a feast after so long. Hak had initially assumed that Ah Dai and Mie Feng were a couple, arranging for them to stay in a single room. When Ah Dai corrected the misunderstanding, Hak realized they were not as intimate as he thought. However, Hak’s house only had one vacant room left. Reluctantly, Ah Dai was arranged to sleep in the storeroom instead. Despite its simplicity, the storeroom was thoughtfully prepared by the kind-hearted Hak. The floor was layered with dried grass, and a soft straw mat was placed on top. Ah Dai, a non-fussy man, appreciated this arrangement greatly.

The sky was dark with night as Ah Dai awoke from his meditation. Given his constant vigilance towards Mie Feng, he dared not remain in meditation for too long. After several hours of recuperation, his life essence, strengthened by True Qi, enabled Ah Dai’s strength to be mostly recovered. Lying on the straw mat, Ah Dai began to relax.

Ah Dai hadn’t taken the time to relax in a long while. As his mind cleared, myriad thoughts surfaced. Xuan Yue’s beautiful face couldn’t be forgotten however hard Ah Dai tried to erase it from his mind. Thoughts of Xuan Yue brought heart-wrenching pain to his long frozen heart. His love for Xuan Yue had been too profound and unforgettable. Suddenly, a blurry figure appeared in his mind, which shocked him. It was the young girl from his past when she would tear the steamed bun into two, giving him the larger portion and telling him to eat. Memories of her filled Ah Dai with emotion. However, the excitement subsided quickly as he came to terms with the reality that his life was no longer his own. Once his revenge for Owen was fulfilled, he was to die at the hands of Mie Feng. He didn’t regret his decision, even though it was a bit impulsive. Ah Dai knew that this was the most effective way to seek revenge for Owen and locate the mysterious Assassin’s Guild.

Just as Ah Dai’s emotions were running high, the quiet little village suddenly descended into chaos as if something had happened. Ah Dai sat up from his straw bed, wondering why things were lively so late at night. Could something have gone wrong in the village? He gently leaped from the bed, opened the door and stepped outside. It was nearly December, and despite being located in the hottest part of the continent, the night was still a tad chilly. The night breeze was refreshing, which made Ah Dai involuntarily stretch. Suddenly, a chill gripped him and he glanced sideways. Mie Feng, dressed entirely in black, stood quietly under the eaves, her eyes cold as starlight pinned on him. Ah Dai communicated through thought-transmission, "Did you hear the noise outside too?"

Mie Feng moved smoothly to Ah Dai’s side without any visible leap. She calmly stated, "Alertness is an essential quality for a thief. Should we go check it out?"

Ah Dai nodded, "It’s so late. I wonder what’s going on." As he spoke, he floated upwards, deftly leaped over Harry’s house wall, and headed for the source of the noise.

The noise in the village grew louder. As Ah Dai and Mie Feng were swiftly approaching the source, they promptly heard a booming voice shout, "Listen up, villagers! Hand over all your crops and follow us obediently. Otherwise, do not wish to live." The voice was evidently amplified with battle aura and resounded brightly over the quiet village.

Ah Dai shared a glance with Mie Feng and questioned, "Who could these people be? Could there be such despicable brigands even in the Empire of Huasheng?"

Mie Feng gave him a look of disdain and replied, "How would I know? Let’s just go and see. You feel like playing the busybody? Well, I am not joining."

Ah Dai snorted coldly and retorted, "I am more than enough. You can go back first. We’re living here, how could we stand by and do nothing if the village is in trouble? You thieves and these bandits are cut from the same cloth. As long as you don’t interfere, that would be enough." He spoke, quickening his pace and heading in the direction of the noise without looking back. Mie Feng, watching Ah Dai’s departing figure, stomped in frustration, but followed him anyways. The village was small, and with a few leaps and bounds, Ah Dai had arrived at the source. He perched on the roof of a village house and watched as hundreds of torches in the distance marked the arrival of fresh invaders into the village. These men were brilliantly armored soldiers, but there were no national emblems on their armors. They were searching house by house. Already, several villagers had been pulled out of their dreams. For the villagers, besides a few screams, they ran out of strength to resist the presence of these wolf-like soldiers.

Mie Feng pounced next to Ah Dai. When she saw the soldiers ahead, she frowned and said, "Aren’t these soldiers from the Empire of Sunset City? How did they get to the Province of Light?"

Ah Dai was stunned and whispered, "I can’t figure out if they are from the Empire of Sunset City. Their armor doesn’t seem different from other nations!"

Mie Feng dismissed him with a touch of scorn and said, "What do you know? Each nation’s armor has its own characteristics. Although these soldiers from the Empire of Sunset City have removed their badges, the leaf-like armor they are wearing is unique to the Empire of Sunset City. You can see the bottom edge of their upper body armor is made of small leaf-shaped plates, this is absolutely unique compared to other nations."

Although Ah Dai did not like Mie Feng’s tone, he nevertheless deeply admired her knowledge. "Those bastards from the Empire of Sunset City dare to raid the Empire of Huasheng? Aren’t they afraid of getting wiped out?"

Mie Feng said, "I’ve looked at a map. Even though this place is within the territory of the Empire of Huasheng, it’s very close to the Dark Province of the Empire of Sunset City. It’s also in a remote hill area, as long as they act subtly without arousing suspicion, there won’t be any rejection from the Empire of Huasheng. However, it seems like their objective isn’t as simple as robbery. There’s nothing valuable in this village worth stealing."

Confused, Ah Dai asked, "Then why are they here? Are they here to make arrests?"

Mie Feng nodded, "It’s very likely that they are here to capture people to train brutally into slaves for the nobles. In the Empire of Sunset City, keeping slaves is a common practice amongst nobles. However, I suspect after such training, it would be impressive if even a third of the people survived."

Ah Dai became furious at these words, "Those bastards are too despicable, I’ll annihilate them."

Mie Feng grabbed Ah Dai and said, "Hold on, it’s a loss given your martial arts skills that you can’t calm down. You should evaluate the situation clearly and find the best opportunity to strike. Despite your advanced skills, you might not find someone of equal strength easy to deal with. The villagers haven’t suffered any real harm anyway, let’s wait and see."

Ah Dai could feel the cold temperature of Mie Feng’s small hand, causing his heart to quiver slightly. Her cold demeanor reminded Ah Dai of past times, and his anger slightly dissipated.

Through observation, Ah Dai and Mie Feng discovered there were around five hundred soldiers from the Empire of Sunset City. Outside the village, they had warhorses, suggesting they were a regular light armored cavalry unit.

In the torture of these soldiers, all villagers were woken up, and none could escape as soldiers searched each house. All the villagers were brought to the village’s square, panicking about what was happening. But faced with the cold glinting weapons of the Empire of Sunset City soldiers, what could the civilians do?

The soldiers were led by a tall middle-aged man in black armor. Once all the villagers had been gathered, the middle-aged man’s loud voice rang out, "Listen, everyone! The Empire of Huasheng is a place that blasphemes the Sky God. As the children of God, you can no longer live under the tyranny of the Huasheng Empire. We are emissaries of God, and we are here to take you to a land blessed by God. Your crops will be gifts to God. God will look after you. We will leave immediately. On the way, if anyone makes noise, don’t blame me for punishing you on behalf of God." Saying this, he casually waved his long knife, causing a cold light. A green battle aura instantly cut a ditch half a foot deep into the ground.

Seeing the gleam of his long knife, the villagers displayed fearful expressions as they all fell silent. They didn’t understand who these sudden arrivals were or why they wanted to take them away from their home.

"What emissaries of God? They’re all liars. We’re living well here and have no intention of going to any place blessed by God. If you know what’s good for you, get out of here fast." A hoarse voice sounded from the gathered villagers, clear in the silent square. Spurred by this provocative voice, the villagers, who far outnumbered the soldiers, suddenly became restless. Instantly, it seemed as though the soldiers were unable to suppress them.

Mie Feng exclaimed in surprise, "Soundscape projection, there’s an expert in the village! This is a profound and rare skill, I can’t believe it’s not extinct!"

Ah Dai curiously asked, "Soundscape projection? What is that?" 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

Mie Feng explained, "You don’t even know this; how did your master teach you? Soundscape projection is an advanced martial arts technique. The practitioner uses their battle aura to create vibrations that mimic different sounds and can broadcast this sound over a certain range. It’s impossible to tell from where the sound is originating. The person who just spoke has very high skills; can you locate the source of the sound?"

Ah Dai shook his head, "I can’t tell either. So, this person is more skilled than me."

Mie Feng glanced at Ah Dai, remembering the scene in the daytime when he cut off the river, and said, "It’s hard to say. But, judging by the skills of the person who used soundscape projection, dealing with these soldiers from the Empire of Sunset City should be a piece of cake. It seems like you don’t need to take action."

At that moment, seeing the villagers create a commotion, the cavalry leader became furious and bellowed, "Who’s the insolent one who spoke out of turn? Stand up!"

The hoarse voice sounded again, "What? Scared because I spoke the truth? We are the people of the Province of Light and won’t go anywhere with you, General of the Empire of Sunset City."

The Empire of Huasheng and the Empire of Sunset City had always been hostile towards each other, and even though this was a remote village, this awareness still existed. Hearing the words ’Empire of Sunset City’, the villagers became even more agitated.

The General of the Empire of Sunset City was taken aback, he was under orders to keep his mission secret, and his identity could not be revealed. A murderous intent flashed over his eyes, and with a flash of his long knife, his green battle aura split the air, aimed towards the gathering place of the civilians. He needed to kill a few villagers to establish his authority, then quickly take all the villagers back to the Empire of Sunset city.

The same green light appeared, flashing once through the crowd, and with a "puff" sound, two green rays collided in the air, completely canceling each other out. A raspy voice rang out, "You rascals are ruthless! I’m done playing with you, I’ll send you all to meet the Sky God." As soon as the voice fell, a green figure shot up into the sky from the crowd of villagers. Wrapped entirely in green cloth, including his head, even the villagers in the crowd were unsure where this green-clothed person came from.

The green-clothed person hovered about five meters from the ground, the raspy voice echoed again, "Remember, I am the guardian deity of Hak Village. No one is allowed to invade here." As he spoke, the green-clothed person subtly turned his head towards Ah Dai and Mie Feng. Two substantial beams of vision shot straight at them, Mie Feng wasn’t affected, but Ah Dai felt a violent tremor in his body as if electrified. He could clearly feel that the sensation originated from a spiritual power aimed at him — was this a challenge to him? Taken aback, he stood up from the roof and stared at the green-clothed man hovering in mid-air.

The green-clothed man’s figure flashed as he suddenly charged towards the leader of the light cavalry from the Empire of Sunset City. His body streaked past the man, who was sent flying without a chance to react, landing amongst the accompanying soldiers in an unknown state. The raspy voice echoed in Ah Dai’s ears, "Come on, lad, let’s both strike. Let’s see who takes out more of them."

Ah Dai snorted coldly, showing no signs of weakness as he floated up into the air. Wrapped in white light, he charged at the crowd of people from the Empire of Sunset City. The raspy laughter echoed from the sky, as the figure wrapped in green also dove into the crowd. Ah Dai would show no mercy to the Dark Forces, especially after hearing Mie Feng’s words, immediately his murderous intent rose. Thin strands of pale blue solid battle aura spread out, each strand seemed gentle, but was filled with the scent of death. It could easily pierce the skulls of soldiers wearing helmets. Wherever Ah Dai passed, the soldiers of the Empire of Sunset City didn’t have time to react before tiny blood holes appeared in their heads.

The appearance of Ah Dai and the green-clothed man left the previously fearful villagers in a state of confusion, only able to watch as the soldiers who had besieged them fell one by one.

Amidst the frenzied killing, Ah Dai felt incredibly refreshed, as if all his previous frustrations had disappeared. Suddenly, his body began spinning rapidly like a tornado, sweeping through the crowd of soldiers. Within the grey tornado, countless threads of blue aura poured out, each taking away a soul.

Finally, it was all over, Ah Dai stood in place with blood-red eyes, looking at the fallen crowd around him. The killing intent in his eyes flickered constantly, as if he was not yet satisfied.

The green figure drifted over, landing in front of Ah Dai. His voice was much deeper, "Kid, you’re too bloodthirsty." Of the roughly five hundred light cavalrymen, almost four hundred had been killed by Ah Dai’s ever-changing solid battle aura threads. The remaining few were subdued by the green figure. Ah Dai stared coldly at the green-clothed man, "Don’t you understand the principle of eradicating evil? For these representatives of darkness, of course, I wouldn’t show mercy. I don’t want to give them another chance to come here."

The green-clothed man spoke in a loud voice: "Villagers, these soldiers from the Empire of Sunset City wanted to take you away as slaves, and they have received the punishment they deserve. The Light and Dark River next to our village flows directly to the Dark Empire. Please throw all these bodies into the river to send them home. As for the horses, please remove their harnesses and let them return to nature." After saying this, he turned to Ah Dai and said: "No matter what reason, too much killing is never a good thing, kid. I can see you are still not satisfied. Come on, let me see how far you’ve come in your training." With that, he soared into the air, drifting towards the direction of the big river. Ah Dai didn’t flinch, he was instantly enveloped in a white battle aura and sped up, following closely behind.

The figure in green moved extremely fast, even with Ah Dai’s speed he could only barely keep up. One leading, one following, they moved through the wilderness like a shooting star chasing the moon. After covering about ten kilometers, the green figure stopped and hovered in mid-air, the green battle aura contrasting starkly. Ah Dai stopped about twenty meters in front of him and was about to speak when the green-clothed man turned into a phantom and charged at him. Without a moment’s hesitation, Ah Dai unleashed a twisted wave of his life battle aura, aiming straight at the green phantom. The violent aura, like a tornado, collided directly with the green phantom. With a loud explosion, Ah Dai was thrown back. Without preparation, he was at a disadvantage. The battle aura emitted by the green-clothed man had extremely strong penetration power. Compared to him, Mie Feng wasn’t even in the same league. The sharp aura brought great trouble to Ah Dai. Even with his life force battle aura working at full power, he could only barely resist.

The man in green did not give Ah Dai a chance to breathe, his body swiftly advanced, countless green shadows surged towards Ah Dai from all directions, each green shadow so agile, a skill Ah Dai did not possess. Ah Dai’s body jolted, the opponent’s powerful attack had triggered his inner mad desire to fight, a blue solid-state energy shield with a half-meter diameter appeared in Ah Dai’s right hand, cold light shot from his eyes, his demeanor devoid of panic, he relied on mental perception to sense the order of the opponent’s attack. His right arm created illusions in the air and the blue energy shield formed an impenetrable barrier. Intense energy explosions echoed continuously, as the green figure and Ah Dai’s gray figure passed by, several blue-green energy orbs exploded in the air. The detonating energy formed a wave of shock that spread all around, all living creatures within hundreds of meters of the two combatants were reduced to dust by the cataclysmic energy, leaving a vast irregular crater on the ground.

Ah Dai and the man in green both halted, staring at each other. In the second clash just now, Ah Dai’s solid-state energy had displayed immense power, completely blocking the man’s fierce attack, and turned the tables on the previous unfavorable situation.

The man in green laughed heartily, "Good, good, good, it’s been a long time since I had such a great fight. Boy, keep going. Show me what else you’ve got!" His voice was no longer raspy, it sounded vaguely familiar to Ah Dai, but before he could confirm, a giant and seemingly irresistible pressure emanated from the green-clothed man.

A chill ran through Ah Dai’s spine, he stimulated all the energy from the golden body in his Dantian. The protective white True Qi was gone, entirely condensed and transformed into blue solid-state energy, forming an even more robust protective shield around his body. He told himself that he could not lose to the man in front of him, that he was the strongest, stronger than anyone else. The activation of his competitive spirit caused Ah Dai’s blood to boil. The domineering aura that he showed when facing the Overlord Mercenary Group appeared once again, released without reservation and blocked the invisible pressure exerted by the man in green. The spiritual realms of both men continued to suppress each other in mid-air, neither was able to gain the upper hand.

The green-clad man crossed his feet, the protective green battle aura suddenly slipped downwards, and Ah Dai clearly felt that the pressure that was coming towards him also slipped down, nearly unbalancing his composure. He swiftly reacted and pulled back his outgoing aura, storing it within himself, adjusting the ninth realm True Qi to its optimum state, ready for the man’s attack at all times.

The green battle aura emitted by the man gradually solidified beneath his feet, unbelievably transforming into the shape of a lotus. In Ah Dai’s eyes, the man seemed to have blended into heaven and earth, appearing flawless without a single weak point. Ah Dai knew that he couldn’t let his opponent continue to gather strength, otherwise, it would be more challenging to handle. With this thought in mind, he narrowed his eyes and mentally controlled his energy transformation. The solid-state battle aura turned into myriad threads pouring out and under Ah Dai’s control, flew towards the man in green. This was a technique that Ah Dai developed himself, called the Heavenly Trapping Technique, which he had used to kill the soldiers of the Sunset Empire earlier. Each thread of solid battle aura possessed significant piercing power, utterly blocking all possible escape routes for the man in green from all directions.

The energy lotus that the man in green was sitting on had almost taken shape. With a loud roar, "Chi——," seven green lotus leaves flew up, meeting Ah Dai’s myriad threads of transformed energy. Ah Dai harrumphed, and with a thought, the threads of solid battle aura suddenly scattered, bypassing the oncoming seven lotus leaves, and kept attacking the man’s main body. Just when Ah Dai thought that his energy threads were about to catch the man, the man in green suddenly roared again, and blasted seven battle auras with both hands, directly hitting the previous seven lotus leaves. The seven lotus leaves burst with intense light, under the effect of the battle aura, they converged towards one point in the air. Ah Dai felt a flash before his eyes, and a deafening sound already sounded. When those seven seemingly insignificant lotus leaves collided, they exploded with destructive energy. The tremendous battle aura shockwave completely shattered Ah Dai’s solid battle aura threads, and under the tractive force of the aura, Ah Dai’s body shook violently. He quickly retreated and threw two consecutive punches, just managing to dissipate the wild shockwaves. After the shockwave, a green energy ball formed in mid-air. The energy contained in that energy ball was so strong that it took Ah Dai by surprise. Was this the effect of those seven lotus leaves?

The green-clad man shouted, "Let me show you my Seven-Leaf Lotus Heart!" With a circular motion of his hands, he lightly slapped the light ball in front of him. The energy ball formed a beautiful arc, rushed towards Ah Dai like a green meteor, leaving a bright tail of light behind. Faced with such a colossal energy force, Ah Dai didn’t dare to slack off, a five-feet long solid-state energy sword appeared in his hand. Under Ah Dai’s full power, the light blue energy sword turned into light purple. He held the sword with both hands, raised it above his head, and roared. He ruthlessly chopped at the incoming energy ball. There was a sound in the air as if it were being torn apart. The man in green, who was initially extremely confident in his energy ball, was shocked to find that where the purple energy sword passed, the green energy ball carrying the explosive energy was split in half, turning into two hemispheres that fell to the ground far away, creating two craters with radii of thirty meters. What surprised the man in green the most was that Ah Dai’s figure disappeared after slicing the energy ball.
