Chapter 498: Chapter 122: The Determination to Win_2

Moon Scar’s heart cheered as he said, "The Duel of Certain Victory is like this, divided into single duels and team battles. The single duels are decided by best of five bouts. For the team battles, both sides field their five hundred best warriors. The rules favor us, as they need to win at least three of the single duels and the team battle to drive us out. But they’ve chosen to challenge us, and while the Moon Scar Mercenary Corps is capable overall, we’re lacking when it comes to one-on-one. Ah... we can only hope to win in the team battle. However, I fear that many brothers will be injured or killed."

Xuan Yue smiles with confidence and says, "Brother Moon Scar, rest assured, we won’t let them draw us into a team battle. As long as we win the single duels, they can’t continue, right?"

Moon Scar faltered in surprise, thinking to himself, Yue Yue’s brother really trusts himself, doesn’t he! He shook his head and replied, "But we go through the team battles first before single duels, which means a team battle is inevitable."

Ah Dai frowned, saying, "Once it becomes a chaotic battle, it’s hard to watch out for everyone. There are bound to be casualties. This could be a problem." Since his defeat at the hands of the four elders of the Yajin Tribe, his confidence had never fully recovered. Xuan Yue’s eyes flashed with determination as he said, "Not a problem, I have a plan. Brother Moon Scar, does the team have to consist exactly five hundred? Can’t it be fewer?"

Moon Scar replied, "There’s no strict requirement for that. Five hundred is just the upper limit. If it’s less than that, it’s fine. Brother Xuan Re, what do you have in mind?"

Xuan Yue smiled confidently, "That can be resolved easily. When we go into team battle tomorrow, Brother Ah Dai and I, as your allies, will fight for you. Five hundred people? That’s nothing. This way, you can avoid sustaining any injury." Moon Scar was taken aback, frowning and responding, "What? Just the two of you against them? That’s too risky. You can’t gamble with your lives like that! They will undoubtedly send their best warriors in the team battle. One wrong move, and you both could die. That is utterly unacceptable. Confidence is good, but you can’t be reckless."

Xuan Yue could tell what was going through Moon Scar’s mind. Looking at the silent Ah Dai, he thought, let’s use this team battle to regain older brother’s confidence. He smiled and reassured, "Brother Moon Scar, rest assured, we won’t overestimate ourselves. Please trust us. With our strength, Brother Ah Dai and I will definitely help you through this crisis."

Kino, who had been standing by, couldn’t help himself and cutting in before Moon Scar answer he said, "There is no need for you to go, I alone am enough. Isn’t my Purple Flame Soaring Dragon enough to leave them running scared?"

Olivia snorted disdainfully, "You going? That would only make things worse. My Dragon’s Wrath is much more effective, sure to leave them dazed and unable to fight."

Xuan Yue retorted, "No, you two are not mercenaries. You can’t represent the Moon Scar Mercenary Corps in the battle. Just watch from the sidelines."

Olivia and Kino were left speechless. As key members of the Mage Guild, they couldn’t join the ranks of mercenaries without the Guild Master’s approval.

Hearing their words, Moon Scar nearly fainted. What a bunch of braggarts! Ah Dai’s friends, who he hadn’t seen in several years, were all boastful. Judging by their outfits, they were all high-level mages. How could they possibly stand up against the enemy’s five hundred Iron Knights on their own? Just when he was about to refuse, there was a sudden commotion outside the door.

"What? My big brother won’t let anyone in? Not even me? I am the vice leader. Get out of my way, stop me again and I will kick you to death..."

Ah Dai and Xuan Yue simultaneously looked surprised at the wild and domineering voice they both recognized all too well. "Bang!" The door to the Conference Hall was kicked open, and a furious young girl stormed in. Her fiery clothes clung to her petite and shapely body, coupled with her slightly curled long hair, she radiated an intoxicating wild charm. It was Yue Ji, Moon Scar’s sister.

Ah Dai stood up, smiling, "You haven’t changed a bit in the years we didn’t see each other, Sister Yue Ji! You must now be twenty-three or twenty-four years old."

Yue Ji paused in surprise, looking at Ah Dai, the familiar simple face caused a shiver throughout her body," Ah! Aren’t you Ah Dai? Why are you here?"

Ah Dai smiled, "We were just passing by. We heard that the Moon Scar Mercenary Corps got very famous, so we decided to take a look."

Yue Ji closed the door with a resounding slam, smiling ruefully she burst out with, "At least you’ve some conscience. You speak more fluently than before, not as silly anymore. Sister Yue Yue has trained you well."

Ah Dai laughed awkwardly, "Big sister, please give me some face." Yue Ji walked over and delivered a powerful punch to Ah Dai’s shoulder. A flash of white radiated from Ah Dai’s body as he softly absorbed the punch to avoid injuring Yue Ji. She was taken aback as her punch hit Ah Dai, it was as if she had hit a soft cotton pillow, her hand recoiled with no effect on him. He was just standing there, as if nothing had occurred. Moon Scar frowned: "Sis, what are you doing? Ah Dai travelled all this way, you can’t just start hitting him."
