"Let’s rest here tonight," Xuan Yue pointed to a forest not far in front and said. After half a day’s trek, the four of them had traveled less than a hundred miles.

Olivia complained, "We’re moving too slowly, there’s still a ways to the next city. It’s all his fault for slowing us down." As she spoke, she looked disgruntledly at Kino.

Kino was taken aback, "How can you blame me, I’m not good with speed to begin with. What’s the rush? It’s not like there’s anything going on."

Olivia said, "Didn’t you see the people from the Yajin tribe are targeting us? If we don’t hurry up and leave their territory, we might encounter more roadblocks, and you’re so lousy, no one will be distracted enough to protect you by then."

Kino retorted, "Aren’t we all magicians? Why would the people of the Yajin Tribe give us a hard time? Besides, I don’t need anyone to protect me."

Olivia replied exasperatedly, "You wouldn’t understand even if I told you, they are just hostile. You don’t need protection? I wonder who was the one hiding behind the Xuan Re brothers in Andis City."

Ah Dai said, "Enough, don’t pick on Kino, let’s just camp in the forest, and set off early tomorrow morning." The four of them entered the forest and found a relatively flat area to settle down.

Kino asked, "What are we going to eat if we camp here? I’m hungry."

Ah Dai blinked, scratched his head, and said, "Indeed! There’s no food here. Brother Xuan Re, do you still have reserves in your Phoenix’s Blood?"

Xuan Yue shook his head, "I ran out a long time ago. It seems that we’ll be going hungry tonight."

Olivia chuckled, "How could that happen, I have brought some dry food." She unsuccessfully attempted to summon her spatial bag from thin air, taking out a cloth bag.

Ah Dai smiled, "You always think of everything."

Olivia unfolded the cloth bag to reveal a stack of pancakes and some fortnightly cured meat. She looked at Kino and said, "I’ll leave the task of starting a fire to you. Be careful, don’t burn down the whole forest."

Kino wiped the sweat off his forehead and said, "Why start a fire when it’s so hot?"

Olivia replied, "Although it’s a bit hot, it’s better than being bitten by mosquitos. The fire will be very useful."

Xuan Yue laughed, "Indeed! Who knows what’s in here, elder brother, go get some firewood."

"Alright." Ah Dai replied and flew up, the azure Blade of Life darted out, casting a dazzling glow, and the surrounding trees dropped large chunks of branches under the sharp blade’s separation. The smoothly obedient feeling made Ah Dai realize that his usage of energy seemed more and more adept.

The three of them, Xuan Re, picked up the declining branches, and soon gathered a pile. "Elder brother, that’s enough."

"Oh." Ah Dai landed beside Xuan Yue, smiled slightly, and said, "Let’s see how skilled Kino is."

Kino puffed up his chest and confidently said, "No problem, just watch me." After chanting a few spells quietly, violet-colored flames floated out.

"Stop—" Before Ah Dai could finish speaking, the dried branches that had just been stacked on the ground had completely turned into ashes. How could these common woods withstand the intense heat of the purple flames?

Kino grimaced, saying, "I didn’t mean to."

Ah Dai patted his shoulder and said, "It’s okay. Let me do it." He cut down the branches again, asked Xuan Yue and the others to gather them into a pile and used a simple Flame Spell. To everyone’s surprise, the flames turned purple, just like Kino’s. Ah Dai was pleased, knowing that this was the result of his great improvement in spiritual power. He flicked a spark onto the pile, setting the fire ablaze.

As dusk fell, the four of them sat around the fire, eating the dry food that Olivia had brought. Kino curiously looked around the forest; as it was his first time leaving Larthas, he found everything very intriguing. Olivia, it seemed, never missed an opportunity to tease him.

As they were preparing to rest, Ah Dai’s expression shifted, "Did you hear that? It sounds like hooves."

Xuan Yue’s face changed. "Is it possible that those from the Yajin Tribe haven’t given up? They’re really pushing their luck. Ah Dai, you can’t show mercy this time."

Ah Dai sighed, "I think they’re coming for us. Ah, it’s all a misunderstanding. We don’t have any deep grudges. How could I bring myself to kill them? Let’s leave and avoid conflict."

Olivia commented, "If it was just the three of us, we might be able to get away. Yet, with Kino holding us back, I don’t think we can outrun horses. It’s better to resolve the issue now rather than being pursued from behind. After the lesson at East City Gate, the ones coming this time must be masters. As long as we repel them, we should be free from trouble." He had full confidence in the four of them, even against a large army.

Xuan Yue nodded, "Vila’s big brother makes sense. Let’s wait here."

The thunder-like sound of hooves gradually became clearer. Ah Dai, Xuan Yue, Olivia and Kino all got up. Ah Dai filled his ears with True Qi, and examined their movements. The hoofbeats suddenly split into two, not charging directly but instead surrounding them from both sides. Ah Dai knew that they had discovered their location and were trying to encircle them. "Stay close together," he instructed in a low voice. "Don’t scatter. If anything happens, it will be easier for me to protect all of you."

Xuan Yue, Olivia and Kino each took out their magic wands. Olivia turned to Kino, "And you better not just hide behind us like last time!"

Kino flushed and responded irritably, "Who hid? Am I supposed to be scared?"

Olivia smirked, "Who knows?"

Xuan Yue suddenly said, "Get ready, they’re coming." The horses’ hooves slowed down, and the sound of footsteps could be heard from all directions. The orderly sound was clear in the silent forest.

The figures gradually appeared. Armored soldiers armed with long spears surrounded the four of them. Each step they took, the pressure on Ah Dai and the others slightly increased.

The heavily armored soldiers kept advancing; when they stopped thirty meters from the four, thousands of cold eyes stared at them. It seemed they were waiting for something.

Suddenly, the soldiers in front parted, leaving a narrow path in the middle. Di Ya, leading the four elders of the Yajin Tribe, walked across. Her face was cold and frosty, her right hand tightly gripping the hilt of her sword.

Ah Dai took a few steps forward, shielding Xuan Yue and the others behind him. He said calmly, "Clan Leader, what are you planning to do by stopping us here?"

Di Ya stopped ten meters in front of Ah Dai, raising her left hand to signal the four elders to stop. She glared at Ah Dai, who was wearing a Fire Series Magician Robe, and harshly said, "I’m here to fulfill the promise we made in Golden Jade Building. You said you could defeat me in one move, right? Well, here is a good place to test that."

Ah Dai breathed in deeply, "If I can defeat you in one move, would you leave us alone?"

Anger flashed through Di Ya’s eyes, "No. Unless you step over the corpses of my Yajin Tribe warriors, otherwise even if you defeat me, you will not be able to leave. Destroying the east gate of Andis City was an immense insult to my Yajin Tribe. I will wash away this insult with your blood."

Olivia was shocked by her words. He had thought that Di Ya was simply venting her anger, but he hadn’t expected that she would actually have murderous intentions. He roared angrily, "Clan Leader Di Ya, aren’t you afraid of making an enemy out of the Mage Guild?"

Di Ya glanced at him, "I’ve already sealed off the news. No one would know if I killed you here. Besides, do you think I’m afraid of the Mage Guild? Whether it’s the continental Mage Guild or the Tian Jing Mage Guild, even combined they have fewer than two thousand mages, while I have two hundred thousand strong soldiers under my command. I believe that as long as the members of the Mage Guild are sensible, they won’t make an enemy out of me just for you, a few low-level mages."

Ah Dai’s eyes slighted narrowed. Di Ya’s words stirred the murderous intent in his heart. He said softly, "If you want to kill us, I doubt you have enough people for that." Even in Dark City three years ago, tens of thousands of soldiers from the Empire of Sunset City couldn’t hold him back. Despite the formidable appearance of the thousands of soldiers in front of him, Ah Dai trusted his ability. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Xuan Yue said, "Big brother, stop wasting words with her. If she wants to kill us, let’s see who kills who. Oh, Great Sky God! Please grant me power, protect your loyal followers with your ineffably pure Holy Light." The Angel Wand erupted into a dazzling gold light. This aura expanded instantly, permeating the bodies of the four on her side.

Ah Dai felt a jolt throughout his body, a gentle energy forming a protective barrier on his body’s surface, elevating his spirits to an unprecedented height.

Di Ya looked at Xuan Yue in surprise and said, "This is light magic. You must belong to the Church."

At this point, Xuan Yue felt there was no need to conceal anything and arrogantly replied, "Correct, I’m a Priest from the Church. What of it? Are you frightened?"

Di Ya looked at Xuan Yue’s handsome face, enhanced by the sacred aura, and felt a slight tremor in her heart. With a huff, she responded, "Scared? I have never felt scared in my life. What of it if you are a Priest? As long as you all die here, what can the Church do to me?" The eldest elder behind her suddenly stepped forward and whispered, "Clan leader, we should not make enemies of the Church. Please reconsider."

Di Ya casually replied, "I have my own judgment." She flipped her wrist, pointing her glittering longsword toward Ah Dai, "Come, let’s see how you can defeat me in one move."

Ah Dai’s heart suddenly calmed down. To him, Di Ya posed no threat, but the four elders behind her made his heart palpitate with dread. He stepped forward, and the teal life-light began to flicker, "Well then, prepare yourself. If I can’t defeat you within one move, I will take my own life right here without you laying a finger on me." His words drove him into the corner, and under pressure, Ah Dai’s Golden Body erupted. The surging battle aura burst forth, and a dazzling white light made Ah Dai’s body slowly float in the air.

The four elders of the Yajin Tribe showed shock all at once; they hadn’t expected Di Ya to provoke such a formidable enemy.

Ah Dai calmly stated, "Third-Generation disciple of the Tian Gang Sword Sect, Ah Dai, at your service." After saying so, he flew straight at Di Ya.

Di Ya took a deep breath, trying to calm her inner turmoil. Her wrist trembled slightly, and the longsword changed angles continuously, looking for gaps in Ah Dai’s defenses while wrapped in blue battle aura.

When Ah Dai reached a distance of five meters from Di Ya, he suddenly stopped. Faced with danger, his mind always cleared exponentially, "Leader Di Ya, my master had once said that when a person’s martial arts reach a certain level, all skills become of no use, and the key to victory is their powerful battle aura. Today, I will prove this point to you." His protective life aura then burst forth. Centering on Ah Dai, everything within ten meters was engulfed by white light. Di Ya retreated subconsciously, barely able to withstand the enormous pressure with her own blue battle aura.

Ah Dai was still hovering in the air, his eyes blazing as they stared at Di Ya. The Battle Aura of his Ninth Life Decision was constantly pressuring her.

Di Ya found it increasingly difficult to breathe. She felt like tons of boulders were continuously crashing against her surroundings, causing sweat to drip from her forehead. At this moment, she suddenly realized that Ah Dai’s claim of defeating her in one move wasn’t an empty talk. The depressing feeling made her Battle Aura, which was already weaker than Ah Dai’s, shrink even more.

Ah Dai raised his right hand, and under the gaze of everyone present, a Solid Energy Sword gradually formed from the cyan-green Battle Aura. The sword pointed forwards, and his body slowly floated towards Di Ya. As he advanced, his Battle Aura exerted even greater pressure on Di Ya. The intensity of his Battle Aura had pushed hers an inch away from her body. She realized that Ah Dai’s Battle Aura had completely restrained her. As she watched the energy sword approach, she tried desperately to struggle, but the power difference was too large. At this point, she had no way of resisting.

As they watched their powerful Clan Leader being suppressed to the point that she could not fight back, the heavy armored soldiers began to grow restless and approached the center.

Suddenly, Ah Dai’s body flashed strangely in the air. In the blink of an eye, he was standing face-to-face with Di Ya, while the energy sword in his hand was resting on her shoulder. The sharp edge of the sword radiated a faint chill. Di Ya’s shallow breaths were clearly heard, and Ah Dai, looking into her beautiful eyes filled with fear and anger, said softly: "This should count as one strike. You’re no match for me. I don’t want to kill, so if you cherish the lives of your soldiers, then leave immediately. Maybe, you’ve heard of a Grim Reaper who once appeared in the Empire of Sunset City, baptizing countless fallen souls. Staring at Di Ya’s puzzled eyes, Ah Dai pronounced each word distinctly: "That-- man-- is-- me." After saying this, he clearly felt Di Ya’s body trembling, and he sternly added: "My hands are already stained with blood, killing a thousand more does not matter. If you cherish the lives of your soldiers, take them and leave." After finishing his words, he swiftly backed away, returning to Xuan Yue and the others, while the Battle Aura that bound Di Ya disappeared. He fixed his gaze on Di Ya, waiting for her decision.

With the pressure suddenly gone, Di Ya’s body wavered, her complexion turning exceptionally pale. She maintained her balance by leaning on the longsword in her hand. She had an intuition that the young man before her who seemed to be in his twenties, his strength seemed to be no less than her master’s. What a terrifying power! This man was the Grim Reaper who plunged the Empire of Sunset City into fear. The defeated Di Ya no longer held the anger she had previously, and she admitted in her heart Ah Dai’s words. She was a clan leader, she couldn’t gamble with the lives of thousands of her people. As Di Ya was about to give the order to retreat, four tall figures passed by her, blocking her behind. Di Ya was shocked. The four who suddenly came out were the four elders that came with her.

Xuan Yue looked at the four elders and asked with a frown, "What, you want to fight us together?"

The Grand Elder’s long and dense eyebrows lifted slightly, and his emotionless voice echoed out, "We are the elders of the Yajin tribe, originally we had no intention of making you our enemy, but for the honor of the Yajin Tribe, we are forced to take action. You four may act together, as long as you can defeat us, the Yajin Tribe will never be your enemy."

As Ah Dai watched the four old men in front of him, who seemed like ordinary people, an inexplicable unease rose within him. However, how could he retreat now? He nodded and said, "Okay, let me see your skills."

Xuan Yue suddenly walked up to Ah Dai’s side, she glared at the four old men who were calm as ancient wells, and said, "Big brother, since there are four of them, we should take action together. The Light System Mage of the Holy Church, Xuan Re, is ready for your instruction." As soon as her voice fell, a golden light burst out, enveloping her body with energy fluctuations not any weaker than Ah Dai’s Battle Aura.

Xuan Yue’s words stirred up the heroic spirit in Olivia’s heart. She walked a few steps to Xuan Yue’s side, held up her Staff of Wind God, and proudly said, "The Wind System Mage of the Mage Guild, Olivia, is ready to learn from the four Elders." A green light emanated from the top of the Staff of Wind God, enveloping her entirely, showing her powerful magical strength.

Kino looked at the three standing in front of him, remembered Olivia’s previous contempt for him, and unwilling to be outdone, he stepped forward, stood beside Olivia, and held up his short staff, repeating Olivia’s words, "The Fire System Mage of Tian Jing Mage Guild, Kino, is ready to learn from the four elders. The blazing red light enveloped his entire body, causing the surrounding temperature to rise slightly.

The white, gold, blue, and red energy radiance added a magnificent array of colors to the entire forest. Even the most common civilians could sense the formidable power emanating from Ah Dai and his companions.

Upon hearing them speak, Di Ya shivered all over. She had never imagined that she was going up against three major powers this time, and that the magicians were far more formidable than what she had initially thought. The Holy Church, the Tian Jing Mage Guild, and the Continental Mage Guild—all of them were no trifling matters. Moreover, amongst the four standing before her, there were two Magi, one magician, along with Ah Dai, whose martial arts excelled under the title of the Grim Reaper. The very thought terrified her. Could the elders win?

In contrast to Di Ya’s unease, the four elders of the Yajin Tribe were remarkably calm. Their wooden staffs planted firmly on the ground while their aura remained undisturbed. They merely watched Ah Dai and his companions quietly. Their murky eyes suddenly lit up and eight rays of light shot out in unison. It sent chills down the spines of Ah Dai’s group.

The Great Elder spoke, "We are about to launch our attack. Please be prepared." Saying so, the four elders simultaneously lifted their wooden staffs, each intoning a resonant "Desire—". No one in the Yajin Tribe, including Di Ya, noticed anything unusual. However, Ah Dai’s group spasmed violently as their protective auras contracted abruptly. Olivia, who had the weakest power among them, suddenly slumped to the ground and passed out. Kino fared slightly better but he was shaking from head to foot, unsteady as if drunk. Ah Dai’s usually flushed face turned pale, his body violently trembling, his robust martial spirit disappearing. With his hands clutching his head, he writhed in pain. Among them, Xuan Yue was faring the best, despite her drained complexion, a trace of clarity still lingered in her eyes. The golden aura around her dimmed and two golden wings emerged from her back, flapping furiously.

"Warrior—" was their next utterance. The word resonated clearly through the woods. Kino, suffering the brunt of the attack, finally succumbed and collapsed to the ground, following in Olivia’s footsteps. Ah Dai’s chest pulsed with a blue glow, and a faint dragon-shaped energy whirled around his head. Even though he was in extreme pain, he managed to stay upright. Xuan Yue’s golden wings dimmed rather conspicuously, nearly becoming transparent. A red light emanated from her chest and took the shape of a phoenix, protecting her head from the attack.

Shock flashed in the elders’ eyes as they thumped their staffs on the ground. Their eyes blazed intensely as they glared at Ah Dai and Xuan Yue. "Battle—" they chanted. Their voices much louder this time, and the dragon-shaped energy protecting Ah Dai trembled along with him. Still, Ah Dai managed to stagger in front of Xuan Yue, a gray mist emerging from his chest as he shivered in bone-chilling cold. "Quick... leave..." he gasped at Xuan Yue, trying to reach for the Sword of Hades on his chest but to no avail.

Xuan Yue barely managed to lift her left hand and support herself by placing it on Ah Dai’s shoulder, steadying her body against the icy aura emitted by the Sword of Hades.

The four elders frowned at the sight of Ah Dai and Xuan Yue. Their hands came together as they intoned, "Those—". At the sound, Ah Dai’s and Xuan Yue’s bodies started shaking uncontrollably. Both screamed in agony and the blue and red energy of their life force suddenly shot into the air, entwining and colliding with intensity. The roars of the dragon and the cries of the phoenix echoed through the forest, causing the elders to falter briefly.

The elders on the edges took a step forward, half surrounding Ah Dai and Xuan Yue in a semi-circle. Their hands flopped open, fingers interlocked in a complex, flower-like pattern. "All—" was the next utterance, causing Ah Dai and Xuan Yue to vomit out fresh blood, though they remained upright. The Dragon and Phoenix energy dimmed, and by the expressions on their faces, they were at the brink of collapse.

The elders rearranged themselves again, standing vertically in line and raising their staffs to call out, "Shake—". An air of confusion ghosted across Ah Dai’s face. Vomiting another mouthful of blood, he gathered the remaining light from the Divine Dragon’s life force to form a shield, not for himself, but for Xuan Yue standing behind him. Ah Dai’s body slowly slumped to the ground, the painful expression on his face gradually quieting as he slipped into unconsciousness,"

Xuan Yue’s eyes reflected a world of pain. She tried to reach out to the fallen Ah Dai but was too exhausted to move. She was utilizing every ounce of energy to withstand the assault from the four elders.

The elders’ faces changed drastically, a look of horror filled their eyes. Aside from the eldest elder at the front, the other three elders discarded the wooden staffs in their hands. They each placed both hands on the back of the elder in front of them, a faint silver glow emitted from their eyes, connecting the four of them spiritually in an instant. The eldest elder clasped his thumbs and middle fingers together, held up one hand palm left in front of him and supported it underneath with his other hand palm-up. He looked slightly pale, but still resolutely shouted, "Line—"

Finally, at the seventh shout from the Eldest Elder, Xuan Yue could no longer hold on. His eyes turned a dull white after coughing up two mouthfuls of fresh blood and slowly collapsed to the ground. Before blacking out, his right hand clung tightly to Ah Dai’s right hand who had fallen in front of him. Even in death, he wanted to die alongside the one he loved. That was the last conscious thought in his heart.

Watching Xuan Yue collapse, the four elders seemed to breathe a collective sigh of relief. The eldest elder calmly said, "Someone, tie them up and bring them back. Do not harm them." After speaking, the four elders, somewhat unsteady, walked over to Di Ya, who stood completely stunned, "Clan leader, let’s go back. Remember, do not harm these people."

Di Ya couldn’t help but admire the elders. Their formidable power had overcome these four opponents. Although she didn’t understand what had happened, her reverence for the elders reached an unprecedented height. She hurriedly responded with respect, "Yes," and slowly accompanied the elders out of the forest.

The health of the four elders of the Yajin Tribe had always been poor. They had arrived in a specially made carriage. Di Ya personally helped them into the carriage. As the curtain of the carriage fell, the four elders simultaneously spit out a mouthful of fresh blood, slumping onto the seats and panting. Sweat dripped from their foreheads, making them look extremely fatigued.

Di Ya was shocked and promptly supported the elder, pouring her energy into him, she cried out, "Elder Tian Luo, what happened?"

The eldest elder weakly waved his hand and said, "I’m fine. There’s no use in channeling your energy into me. We’ll recover after a period of rest. These youngsters have strong spiritual power. Clan leader, remember not to harm them or touch their belongings. They will be unconscious for at least seven days. We’ll deal with them after we four recover."

Di Ya nodded repeatedly, "I’ll listen to you; you rest first."

Seven days later, Sky Prison of the Yajin Clan.

Xuan Yue slowly awakened from his slumber. His throbbing headache made him groan in pain. As his vision gradually cleared up, he realized he was in a dark room. Shaking his head forcefully, he became slightly more alert. Looking around aimlessly, he found himself lying on the floor. The spacious room was covered with straw and the four walls were made of stone and hard to see clearly in the dark. He tried to move his body, only to find he couldn’t muster any strength. He took a deep breath and tried to activate his powerful magic power. As the magic power began to stir slightly, a sharp pain soared from his head like it was sensing something, preventing his spiritual power from focusing. After several attempts yielded the same results, he had to give up. He could only sit there, dazed, recalling everything before he blacked out.
