Chapter 443: Chapter 94: Starting an Adventure_4
Xuan Yue pondered for a moment, then cryptically said, "I can handle defeat. If I lose, I’ll tell you a secret. A secret about my sister. How does that sound? However, I have no intention of losing."
"Tell me a secret? Are you trying to deceive me?" Ah Dai looked at Xuan Yue, puzzled.
Xuan Yue tried to keep her face serious, "Big brother, do you think I’m the kind of person who would lie to you? Rest assured, this secret will be worth it to you. Why are you hesitating like a woman? So, do we have a deal? Make up your mind."
Ah Dai was looking at Xuan Yue, who had a slightly feminine disposition. He thought, I haven’t even mentioned that you look like a girl yet, but you’re pointing it out to me. "Alright, I’ll trust you this once and do as you say," he replied, sceptically beating his gaze on Xuan Yue. He refused to believe that she could make something happen that he himself could not do. Ah Dai was very confident in his relationship with the Divine Dragon.
Xuan Yue gave a coy smile, walked up to Sheng Xie, and whispered something in his ear. Ah Dai tried to enhance his auditory senses by focusing his True Qi, attempting to eavesdrop their conversation. However, Xuan Yue used her Magic Power to isolate her voice. He tried a few times but was unsuccessful.
Xuan Yue straightened up, seemingly having finished speaking. Ah Dai could see determination in the Giant Dragon’s eyes, and heard a voice echoing deep in his heart, "Brother, please seal me back in the Dragon’s Blood."
Ah Dai was stunned, what a strategy by these Xuan siblings! He couldn’t help but ask, "Xiao Xie, why did you suddenly change your mind? What exactly did Xuan Yue tell you?"
Sheng Xie shook his large head, "I’m sorry, brother. I promised her I wouldn’t tell you. Please, take me back."
With no other options, Ah Dai recited the Spell and sealed the colossal Sheng Xie back into the Dragon’s Blood. Once Sheng Xie had been sealed away, Ah Dai looked at the triumphant Xuan Yue in astonishment, asking, "What in the world did you say to Xiao Xie to convince him to go back so obediently?"
Xuan Yue gave Ah Dai a secretive smile and replied, "That’s a secret, which I can’t reveal yet. Now, admit it, you lost."
Ah Dai helplessly nodded his head, "A bet is a bet. It’s just carrying you to the first city, right? Let’s go."
Xuan Yue, wearing a smirk of triumph, moved behind Ah Dai and abruptly jumped on his back. Ah Dai tightened his grip around her legs. The close contact made Ah Dai feel a soft ripple across his back. He thought to himself, The body of a magician is indeed weak with absolutely no muscles!
"Ah haha, it feels really good to ride on someone after riding dragons," a jubilant Xuan Yue said while patting Ah Dai on the shoulder. "Let’s set off."
A somewhat disgruntled Ah Dai carried Xuan Yue on his back and headed down the roadway. As they walked, he inquired, "Brother, I’m already carrying you. Would you please spill the beans on how you managed to bring Xiao Xie under submission? I am genuinely curious."
Xuan Yue, enjoying the scenery, nonchalantly commented, "It’s straightforward, but I won’t tell you. However, if you agree to carry me to yet another city, I shall reveal my secret."
Ah Dai, weighing the pros and cons, eventually decided not to press further. Xiao Xie was already back where it belonged. He could handle it the next time it happened. Aiming to reach the next city as soon as possible, Ah Dai activated his True Qi and dashed off like an arrow shooting into the barren land. Xuan Yue, terrified by the sudden speed burst, felt the landscape racing past them. She buried her pretty face behind Ah Dai’s back, hugging his neck tightly. The warmth and secure feeling stemming from Ah Dai’s broad back comforted her.
Eventually, the fear subsided, replaced by exhilarating excitement. As they flew through the air, Ah Dai’s swiftness, akin to a bolt of lightning, seemed beyond elegant. His long, black hair occasionally swept across her face, which made her feel slightly intoxicated.
After rushing at high speed for over an hour, Ah Dai slowed down as the road started getting crowded again. In order to avoid standing out, he slowed his pace and continued to walk with large strides. Xuan Yue didn’t weigh much, so the sprint took a little toll on Ah Dai. It merely warmed up his blood veins without affecting his breathing in the slightest.
Passersby constantly cast surprised glances at them, making Ah Dai feel awkward. He couldn’t help but say to Xuan Yue, "Brother, do you think you could get down? There are too many people here, and they’re all staring at us. You’re a priest of the church, you should be more dignified."
Xuan Yue looked at the people around them, knowing Ah Dai was feeling embarrassed. How could she deliberately make her beloved feel uncomfortable? She swiftly replied, "Okay, put me down, and I will walk. But, remember this distance for later, you will have to carry me again."
"What? Must we be so petty?"
"A bet is a bet. Do you have a problem with that?"
"Okay, alright. I agree."
"That’s better. Let’s hurry up, I’m hungry. It’s been a long time since I enjoyed human food, I miss it!"
Ah Dai helplessly watched Xuan Yue walking ahead of him. He was surprised to find that being with the elder brother of Yue Yue, he always maintained a relaxed mood. That kind of light-hearted feeling was genuinely comfortable. "Brother Xuan Re, there’s something I haven’t asked you yet?"
Xuan Yue turned back, gave a tiny smile to Ah Dai, "What? Ask."
Ah Dai replied, "What route are you planning to take to the Pu Yan Tribe? We’re not far from a fork in the road ahead."
Xuan Yue stopped, pulled out the map that originally belonged to Ah Dai from her bosom and said, "I’ve already arranged it, look." She then opened the map, allowed Ah Dai to hold it and pointed with a slender finger to their current location, saying, "We are currently in the Varangian Province. If we continue northeast, we will pass through the DeLun Province of the Empire of Tian Jing, then continue northeast from there, passing through the northern edge of Duru Province, we can then enter the Yajin Tribe territory within the Federation of Suod."
Ah Dai froze and said, "We are heading to the Pu Yan Tribe. Why would we pass through the Yajin Tribe? We should be heading southeast, crossing through the territory of Yalian Tribe! That’s the shortest distance to the Pu Yan Tribe and also saves time. That’s the route I took when coming from the Tian Yuan Clan."
Xuan Yue frowned at Ah Dai and said, "I am deliberately heading northeast to enter the territory of the Yajin Tribe for a reason. Didn’t I mention? We are going to explore the Death Mountain Range. Since we are exploring, wouldn’t it be boring if we didn’t make the most of the trip? My plan is, we’ll pass through Yajin Tribe’s territory first, go to the Red Charming Clan. The Mercenary Guild’s headquarters is there. I believe there will certainly be special-class tasks about Death Mountain Range. We can accept a task first, then realize it when going to the mountain range. With our current abilities, being a third-class mercenary is too shameful!"
Upon hearing about the Red Charming Clan, Ah Dai couldn’t help but think about the Moon Scar Mercenary Group. After being separated for so long, he wondered how they were doing now. "Brother, you may not know, but the Evil Sky Mercenary Group is now a Special Class Mercenary Group."
Xuan Yue was surprised, "Special Class Mercenary Group? Big brother, did you go on a mission? How did you advance so quickly?"
Ah Dai smiled faintly and retold his encounter at the Mercenary Guild in Duru Province, "Look, this is my current mercenary card." He then brought out the golden card representing the special-class mercenary and handed it to Xuan Yue. Xuan Yue held the card, playing it over in her hands, she smiled and said, "Brother Moon Scar is a decent bloke, registering a mission meant for us two. Alright, once we reach the next city, I too will go to the Mercenary Guild to get a card for my sister."
Ah Dai, seeing the excited Xuan Yue, shook his head helplessly and walked ahead. He hadn’t noticed the slip of the tongue in Xuan Yue’s previous statement.
Around noon, they finally arrived at Mimu City in DeLun Province. The small city had a small population and was pitifully tiny, covering only a little over a thousand square kilometres. From the west, one could practically see the eastern end of the city at a glance.
