Chapter 441: Chapter 94: Starting the Adventure_2
Hearing Xuan Yue’s words, Ah Dai’s spirit rose suddenly, ’Yes! I have four divine artifacts on me, coupled with Xuan Re’s Phoenix’s Blood and the near divine artifact, the Angel Wand. Why wouldn’t I be able to handle the Death Mountain Range?’ "Alright, brother, I’ll take your advice, let’s go to the Death Mountain Range. Even if demons exist there, we’ll fight them head-on."
Xuan Yue watched Ah Dai’s face grow slightly flushed, and she revealed a knowing smile. Her Ah Dai was still the same straightforward man that he was. Just a few words from her convinced him. Oh, Ah Dai! Indeed, I wanted to explore the Death Mountain Range, but I didn’t tell you that even when facing danger, I am confident I can pull us out safely from it. How can I let you risk your life?
"Alright, since you’ve agreed, let’s begin packing now. We will begin our journey to the Federation tomorrow morning."
In the early morning of the second day, Xuan Yue and Ah Dai woke early; they stowed all the things they needed into the Spatial Bag. Upon preparing to leave yesterday, Ah Dai and Xuan Yue had cleaned up the log cabin once more, restoring it back to the way it was when Ah Dai was about to leave last time.
"Big brother, let’s go." Xuan Yue urged Ah Dai. She was somewhat reluctant to let go of their life there, yet the excitement to set forth and experience the world with Ah Dai overshadowed that, making her a bit impatient to depart.
Ah Dai had never told Xuan Yue about the secret underground laboratory. That was a secret shared between him and Goris. Now that they were leaving, the wistful feeling of farewell lingered in Ah Dai’s heart. "Brother, I’ll lead you to a place before we leave." He then commanded Sheng Xie to wait in front of the cabin and took the lead towards the orchard.
Xuan Yue was taken aback. She hurried to follow and caught up, grabbing Ah Dai’s hand. "Big brother, you forgot to take me with you. Don’t tell me you want me to get lost inside?"
Ah Dai apologized. "I’m sorry, I genuinely forgot."
They walked into the orchard, with Ah Dai guiding Xuan Yue deep into it. Xuan Yue asked, puzzled, "Big brother, didn’t we already pick enough fruits? If we take any more, even if they are stored in the Dragon’s Blood, they would not stay fresh anymore. Fruits are not as durable as the steamed buns!"
Ah Dai just shook his head gently and didn’t reply. He continued leading Xuan Yue deeper into the orchard. Xuan Yue gradually realized that they had moved past their usual picking spot and were now in the deeper inner parts of the orchard.
Suddenly, Ah Dai stopped dead in his tracks, his body seizing slightly.
Xuan Yue went around to the front of Ah Dai and saw a tombstone. "Ah! This is Master Goris’s grave!"
Ah Dai fell to his knees before the tombstone with a thud and dusted off the dirt that had accumulated over the stone with his sleeve. Tears flowed freely from his eyes as he sobbed, "Master, I am leaving, I don’t when I’ll be able to visit you again... Please take care in that other world!" He bowed three times as a sign of respect.
Xuan Yue felt Ah Dai’s sorrow and knelt down next to him, silently praying in her heart: Master Goris, Ah Dai and I are leaving. You must bless us! I genuinely like Ah Dai. Rest assured, in your place, I will take good care of him and not let him be tormented any further."
A cool breeze blew by, bringing a refreshing feeling. Ah Dai exclaimed in delight, "Master, is that you? It must be you who heard my voice, right?"
Xuan Yue comforted him, "Big brother, Master Goris surely came to remind you to take care of yourself and come back to see him soon."
Ah Dai glanced at Xuan Yue and nodded slightly. He stared at the tombstone for a long moment, then got up. "Goodbye, Master Goris."
When they arrived back at the cabin, Ah Dai seemed to have lightened up a lot. Looking at Sheng Xie, then at Xuan Yue beside him, he shouted, "Towards the Death Mountain Range, let’s depart."
Sheng Xie let out a jubilant roar, spreading his massive wings, and, with a sweep, swept Ah Dai and Xuan Yue up onto his back. Since his evolution was still in the early stages, he wasn’t yet capable of flight with two passengers, so they had to travel on foot.
Xuan Yue gripped the dragon horns on Sheng Xie’s head for balance and laughed, "Sheng Xie is truly considerate, knowing that I am not very strong, he chose to carry us on foot."
Ah Dai looked back and smiled, "Yes, Xiao Xie is our best friend. Let’s go, Xiao Xie."
Sheng Xie let out a deep dragon roar and started heading forward. In concert with Ah Dai’s connection, it skillfully avoided one trap after another.
Ah Dai and Xuan Yue did not let their guard down. Ah Dai’s near-death experience last time had greatly heightened their vigilance; they were always ready to withstand an Assassin’s unexpected attack.
Actually, the assassins had long since retreated. On that day, both Xuan Yue’s Holy Magic and Sheng Xie’s Power of the Golden Horn had severely injured them. Even though Xuan Yue had only released a level-six Light Magic due to time constraints, the assassins had already been wounded before and were running low on energy. Their dark attribute aura clashed with Xuan Yue’s Holy Light Magic. Xuan Yue’s Holy Magic was the purest of its kind, so even a little bit of it infiltrating their bodies significantly reduced their abilities. Sheng Xie, an offspring of the Divine Dragon, was born under the influence of the Sword of Hades and thus had a mixture of both holy and evil characteristics. But its seven golden horns on the back were purely formed by Holy Power. The massive divine energy hit the back of the assassins, who had no protection, nearly causing fatal damage to them. Under the attack of two different kinds of Holy Energy, although the assassins were powerful, they could only use their remaining energy to escape and save their lives. It took nearly ten days of rest for them to gradually recover. In the short run, they lacked the strength to fight again. Moreover, in the assassins’ minds, Ah Dai and Xuan Yue must have already left. The assassins bore deep hatred for the two that had heavily injured them. As soon as their conditions stabilized, they returned to the secret hideout of the Assassin’s Guild nearby, awaiting news about Ah Dai and Xuan Yue and reporting their encounter with Ah Dai to the Assassin’s Guild, waiting for their commands.
