Chapter 432: Chapter 92: Conflicting Psychology_3
Xuan Yue looked up and said, "There’s no need for thanks, I did it for my sister too! By the way, thanks for the fruit, it’s delicious. I love the fresh, sweet taste. I’ve left some for you, you should try it too." As she spoke, she pointed at the remaining fruit on the table.
As Ah Dai was savouring the fruit, he reached for a book, intending to read. But Xuan Yue, piqued with curiosity, asked, "Ah Dai, didn’t you say this place is your teacher’s home? Why haven’t we seen your teacher?"
At her question, Ah Dai stiffened; his fruit fell onto the table as grief leaked from his expression. He set the book on the table, propped himself up with his hands, and murmured, "My teacher... my teacher is dead."
Xuan Yue’s heart jumped. "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to stir up your sorrow." Seeing Ah Dai’s melancholic state, she too felt unease settling within her.
Ah Dai shook his head and confessed, "Truth be told, my teacher was the closest person to me. His death was a major blow. When I found out about his passing, I wished to follow him to the afterlife. It was the things he left me that gave me the courage to go on. He was too obsessed all his life, dedicating himself entirely to alchemy, even using his own life to complete his final work. My teacher was so great, and no one can replace his position in my heart."
Xuan Yue digested his words and echoed, "He used his life to complete his final work. What was it?"
In his grief was a trace of pride, "My teacher used his own life to fulfill his last wish. He became the first master alchemist in human history to refine a divine artifact."
"A divine artifact? Can it really be created by humans? Your teacher was indeed great. This is my first time hearing about someone being able to make a divine artifact."
Ah Dai, observing Xuan Yue’s surprised expression, revealed a bittersweet, helpless smile. "Yes! My teacher was the greatest alchemist, but he paid with his own life to fulfill his dream." Caressing the Goris’s Wish on his right arm, Ah Dai sighed. "Had it not been for this divine artifact left by my teacher, I fear I would have already fallen during the first attack by those assassins yesterday."
Filled with curiosity, Xuan Yue responded without thinking, "Can I take a look at this divine artifact?"
Ah Dai nodded. With no suspicion towards Xuan Yue, he lifted his clothed right arm to reveal the Giant Spirit Snake Armor. He unlocked the Armor, unveiling the dark color that lay beneath.
Xuan Yue approached Ah Dai, grasping his hand, looking at his arm which emitted a faint black glow. "Is this the divine artifact? Have you merged with it?"
Ah Dai looked at the complex black patterns on his arm and nodded. "Yes! This is the divine artifact my teacher left me. I named it ’Goris’s Wish’ in honor of him. It allows me to teleport three times each day and project a clone that holds half of my abilities. Yesterday, it was thanks to these two functions that I was able to hold on for so long."
"Teleportation three times." The words reminded Xuan Yue of her own Space Magic. She mused, "Although teleportation is possible with Space Magic, I haven’t heard of any cloning magic. How large is the range of your teleportation with Goris’s Wish? Can you ensure its accuracy?"
Ah Dai explained, "The range of teleportation is within fifty meters. I can pretty much ensure its accuracy, with a maximum deviation of less than one meter. That’s because you usually only have a millisecond to target your location. Given enough time, it should be perfectly accurate."
Xuan Yue nodded, exclaiming, "That’s extraordinary, truly worthy of a divine artifact. Although Space Magic also allows teleportation, even the most powerful magician can at most ensure a thirty percent accuracy. Moreover, it consumes a lot of magic power." As she spoke, she gently stroked Ah Dai’s arm that bore the Goris’s Wish, feeling the surge of magic power within it.
The cool sensation of Xuan Yue’s hand moving up and down his arm stirred a strange sensation within Ah Dai. How could I entertain such feelings for Xuan Re, who is as a man just like me? It must be because he reminds me of Yue Yue. With an inward gasp, Ah Dai withdrew his arm and adjusted his sleeve.
Xuan Yue asked with concern, "What’s wrong?"
Ah Dai lowered his head, using his injury as an excuse, "Probably because my wounds from yesterday haven’t completely healed. I think I’ll meditate for a while, you should reflect as well."
Upon hearing his injury was not yet cured, Xuan Yue immediately urged, "Then you should hurry and meditate. Treating your wounds is important."
The two settled on the bed. Ah Dai took a deep breath, glanced at Xuan Yue’s concerned gaze, closed his eyes, and started channeling the energy within his Silver Body. His consciousness sank into his Dantian, and he gradually entered meditation.
Xuan Yue didn’t immediately follow suit. She looked at the dim white glow gradually rising from Ah Dai’s body, a serene warmth filling her heart. From their interactions, she had noticed the changes in Ah Dai. Even though he was still a little dull, he seemed more stolid than before. An underlying sadness always reflected in his gaze. He must have faced many hardships during the past three years. She promised herself to enquire once he woke up. From now on, I’ll stay by your side, Ah Dai. I won’t let you suffer anymore. You mustn’t let me down! If you fall in love with another woman and stop holding feelings for Yue Yue, she will be heartbroken. Suppressing the struggle within her heart, Xuan Yue whispered her spell to enter a meditative state. Divine golden light radiated from her aura, encompassing her. The magic elements in the air responded, converging around her. Gradually, Xuan Yue’s consciousness merged into the holy golden sea.
