Chapter 392: Chapter 84: Mage Guild_1

The energy of the silver body churned, and Ah Dai floated upwards into the pitch-black night, heading towards the direction of the Empire of Tian Jing. The night wind with a hint of chill continuously slapped against his body, keeping his mind in the utmost alert state. The feeling of the breeze brushing against his face was rather picturesque. Soon, he thought, he would be reunited with Master Goris, which warmed his heart. His steps quickened.

As he walked on, suddenly he saw the sky light up in the distance, and a red fireball soared high, erupting in a blaze of sparks that looked particularly dazzling. Ah Dai’s heart raced. The flame did not appear to be a result of magic but rather mundane fireworks, but the Pu Yan clan shouldn’t have any fireworks!

With a sense of curiosity, Ah Dai quickened his speed, racing towards the site where the fireworks were ascending. He hadn’t gotten closer when he clearly sensed magical fluctuations in the air. The magical elements appeared unusually tumultuous. Flashing lights of various colors were glimmering from behind a mound ahead, obviously, Mages were attacking each other. Ah Dai flew up, making a few jumps to climb over the mound. Looking down, he was startled by the scene before his eyes.

Two groups of Mages were attacking each other at the bottom of the mound, and the majority of them were fire system or wind series Mages. Flames and wind blades of various colors were persistently colliding with each other in the air. The group near the mound was at a disadvantage. Although the six of them had considerable magical levels, they were outnumbered. Opposite them were thirteen Mages, who were constantly launching attacks, with each attack upon the six Mages’ put up protection barrier maintaining a lethal force. The surrounding foliage were all destroyed by the magic, turning the area into a scorched earth filled with traces of burnt and frozen damage from magic.

Ah Dai secretly speculated that the fireworks signal he saw earlier from the sky must have been a distress call from the group on the defense. Though extremely rare, why would there be so many Mages gathered here risking their lives? Regardless of who won the battle, they would undoubtedly suffer massive casualties, and he wondered why they would subject themselves to such unnecessary harrow.

His compassion then stirred, he decided to intervene to clear up the confusion. He conjured a yellow-green energy shield, flying down into the midst. The aftermath of the magic attacks could not harm the body protected by the energy shield. Within a few steps, he was standing in the midst of the clashing Mages, shouting, "Stop!"

The magic from both sides flew above Ah Dai’s head. His body radiated a powerful white light, as he punched into the sky where the magic was converging. His mighty True Qi erupted, spreading a rain of light in the vast sky. The attack of the Mages from both sides paused and they caught a glimpse of the unidentifiable young man standing in the middle.

The punch Ah Dai threw was to counter the cooperative attack of nearly ten Mages. Though these Mages were not of high rank, the counterforce of their combined magic attacks caused slight fluctuations in his True Qi. As both sides stop their attacks, Ah Dai took a sigh of relief and asked loudly, "We are all members of the Mage Guild, why must you go to such lengths?"

The leading Mage from the side with more Mages sneered, "This is one of the matters within us Mages, and it has nothing to do with you. You better leave now or do not blame us for showing no mercy." Despite that, he could discern the unusualness in the young man standing before him, but he was not bothered, leveraging on their superior numbers.

A water element Mage from the outnumbered side spoke, "They are not the members of the Guild? They are all rebels seeking independence. My young friend, these people are outcasts among Mages. If you help us eradicate them, the Mage Guild will not forget your good deeds." As they were now on the losing side, the formidable strength that Ah Dai displayed was witnessed by them all. As long as they could draw Ah Dai to their side, they might still stand a glimmer of hope.

This made the Mages of the outnumbered side furious, leading to a quarrel, "You are the rebels; we are the legitimate members of the Mage Guild..." As they began hurling insults at each other, both sides started to chant for magic, with both sides ready to launch the next round of attacks.

Ah Dai frowned, shouting, "Stop! Who says this has nothing to do with me? I am also a Mage." With that, he uttered the spell for the Flame Spell, a deep blue magical flame appeared in his right palm. Every Mage saw how he had used Martial arts to destroy both parties’ magical attacks earlier, and they were all stunned when they saw him launch the magic. A Mage from the outnumbering side suddenly exclaimed, "Ah! Are you Ah Dai?"

Ah Dai was startled and asked, "How did you know?"

A Mage from the outnumbering side was extremely excited that he guessed right, "Great, this is great, you are the only one capable of both magic and superior Martial arts. Elder Ah Dai, please help us eradicate these rebels from the Mage Guild." As soon as he mentioned "Elder Ah Dai," the faces of the Mages on the other side turned pale. It was common knowledge that an Elder in the Mage Guild possessed the strength of at least a Magus – the top-level Mages among them were at most high-level Mages, and the gap in their rankings was insurmountable. A Magus who manages magic properly could fight against ten max-level Mages with ease.
