Chapter 366: Chapter 78 Unexplained Human Affection_3

As Ah Dai fended off the relentless onslaught of the masters’ attacks, he continued to regulate the true Qi within his body. His magic, which was continuously getting used up, depleted his Qi rapidly and demanded constant cycling to keep it maintained. His vantage point at a great height left the masters of the Empire of Sunset City unable to mount a successive attack on him. For a brief moment, they couldn’t harm him at all.

Suddenly, a surge of blue battle aura stormed forward, not towards Ah Dai himself, but towards the city wall under his feet. Ah Dai was alarmed; he knew clearly that once the wall beneath him crumbled, he’d likely fail to hold his position. In a state of emergency, he quickly converted his own battle aura into white color to counter the blue light. With a thunderous sound, Ah Dai stumbled. Although he managed to block the attack of the blue battle aura, a breach appeared in his once impenetrable defense. A red and a yellow sharp battle aura surged forward, targeting the opening Ah Dai had exposed. Ah Dai roared, "Tian Luo Grid!". A yellow-green light grid, with Ah Dai at its center, quickly spread outwards, immediately neutralizing all the surrounding attack energies.

Although the attack of Tian Luo Grid was formidable, its biggest drawback was the inability to retract the solidified battle aura, which resulted in a 20% reduction in Ah Dai’s energy after every use. He knew he was reaching his limit. The extensive use of battle aura had drained over 70% of the Qi within his body. If he continued to persist, he wouldn’t have any chance to get out. In his mind, he thought, "It’s been quite long already, maybe Yan Shi and the others have already escaped. It’s high time I should leave too." Thinking thereupon, he hesitated no more, kicked his feet off the ground, and like a bird, glided out towards the outskirts of the city. As soon as he left the top of the wall, the burning energies instantly reduced the place where he just stood to dust. Simultaneously, a raging fire dragon pursued him from behind, directly charging towards Ah Dai in the sky. It was the magicians from the Empire of Sunset City. A combined seventh-rank attack magic from a few Grand Fire Mages presented an enormous threat to Ah Dai. Being mid-air, Ah Dai had nowhere to escape. His only choice was to grit his teeth, use the magic of transformation to conjure a massive shield behind him.

Although all kinds of magic were inadequate against the Transformation magic, the massive impact from the fire dragon still internally wounded Ah Dai as it struck the energy shield. Amid the thunderous loud noise, countless sparks scattered in the sky – as beautiful and varied as festival fireworks. Ah Dai’s body violently shook as he spat out a mouthful of blood. Leveraging the impact force of magic, he rapidly moved towards the outskirts of the city. As a cool breeze was blowing, when Ah Dai thought he had escaped danger, a green silhouette shot towards him like lightning.

Ah Dai swiftly drew a deep breath and accelerated downwards; however, the green silhouette was even quicker. A green wind blade, with a sharp whistling sound, split from the silhouette and charged towards Ah Dai. As a last resort, Ah Dai had to gather the remaining True Qi within his body and change it into a yellow-green light blade. Amid a thunderous loud noise, to Ah Dai’s surprise, the fierce wind blade attack seemed to carry no intent of harming him. When it collided with his Transformation energy, it suddenly turned into a gentle breeze enveloping Ah Dai’s body, lifting him up and lightly carrying him outward. Just as he was wondering what was happening, an old voice echoed inside his heart, "I’ve replied to your favor, next time we meet, I assure you I will show no mercy."

Under the effect of wind energy, Ah Dai’s body was carried far away and disappeared in the forest on the other side of the moat. In the night sky behind him, Byinlog silently floated in place. Watching Ah Dai’s departing figure, a faint smile crossed his face. He murmured, "Such impressive martial arts. Given some time, I fear another Sword Saint will emerge on this continent." At that moment, the pursuers from the Empire of Sunset City had already followed him out. At the forefront were the four guards – Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind, who had been by Quan Yi’s side.

Byinlog landed on the ground, blocking their way, and said, "There’s no need to chase. That man is not an elf, and I’ve gravely wounded him. He’s as good as dead. Get back to the city immediately and be vigilant, this could be a diversion. Immediately search all suspicious places around the city wall and stay alert at all times."

The four guards had always respected Byinlog and trusted his words implicitly. They respectfully agreed, leading their powerful subordinates back into Sunset City and began another massive search.

Upon landing in the forest, Ah Dai didn’t dare to pause at all and sped away like a shadow. While running, he recalled the voice that had echoed in his heart, which seemed familiar, as if he had heard it before. He wondered about the favor he owed and to whom he owed it. He didn’t even know anyone here! After racking his brain, he still couldn’t figure out what was going on. In a while, he finally arrived at the rendezvous point agreed upon with Yan Shi and others.

Yan Shi and his team had been anxiously waiting for quite a while, constantly vigilant of any movements from the direction of Sunset City. When they left, they clearly saw the colorful aura of battle on top of the walls of Sunset City.

Xing Er clutched her clothes tightly, murmuring, "He will be fine. He must be fine." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Yan Li anxiously urged Yan Shi, "Brother, it’s been so long, and Ah Dai hasn’t arrived yet. What if he ran into some trouble? What if he’s been captured?"
