Chapter 356: Chapter 76: The Melody of Growth_3

Watching the scene unfold from the sky, Byinlog felt a sinking sensation in his heart. He had never encountered such an anomalous spell before. He could only continue to use the Wind Blade to help the soldiers break free from the entanglement. However, his abilities were limited and he soon found himself overwhelmed, while most of the soldiers were yelling in shock due to the plant attacks.

At that moment, the Elf Queen, along with Ah Dai and seventeen others, began their operation. They silently infiltrated the Imperial Palace. As the center of the chaos caused by Growth Melody was at the other end of the palace, the aggressive plant growth here was comparatively slower. Since the group emitted the aura of the elf clan, the plants didn’t attack them. The sprawling plants provided ideal cover, allowing them to navigate successfully amongst the exuberant vegetation. The Elf Queen and the four Great Elf Envoys continuously drew in the vital energy from the air, rapidly replenishing their magic power. Ah Dai and Yan Shi followed closely, ensuring the safety of the Elf Queen. Amongst the nine Elf Envoys, seven were archers, constantly vigilant and ready with their elf shortbows as they flew. Led by the Elf Queen, they swiftly advanced deeper into the palace of the Empire of the Sunset City.

Byinlog’s subordinate finally arrived. Ten or so magicians of the Great Magician level and above joined forces. While they couldn’t stop the plant attacks, they significantly relieved Byinlog’s burden. Using Wind Magic to amplify his voice, Byinlog shouted: "All Forbidden Guards within the palace, organize immediately and combat the plants. There are invaders, safeguard your positions!"

As his burden decreased, Byinlog calmed down. Abruptly, he realized that only the Elf Magic of the Elf Clan could create such potent plant control effects. Of course! The Princess of the Elf Clan was inside the palace and they must have come to rescue her. Realizing that it was just a diversion, Byinlog brimmed with fury, enraged at the audacious elves causing chaos under his watch. Leaving his men to rescue the soldiers, Byinlog sped towards the palace that held the captive Elf Princess, aware of the Emperor of the Sunset Empire’s obsession with her. If the Elf Princess was released, it would likely cause an uproar in the palace.

The 34th Emperor of the Sunset Empire, Quan Yime, was sound asleep, awoken by the external uproar. He abruptly sat up, cursed, "Who the hell made such a raucous noise? If I find them, I’ll skin them alive." The beauty by his side sleepily asked, "Your Majesty, what is happening? I just fell asleep, and then all this noise."

Quan Yime flirtatiously replied, "My sweet little thing, wait here while I check it out." Buttoning his coat, he walked outside. His ability to ascend the throne was locally attributed to his power rather than luck. Despite his penchant for women, he often displayed a wise demeanor during crucial situations, which earned him the respect of the Great Magician Byinlog. Under Byinlog’s vast influence, Quan Yime stood out among the royal siblings. He took the throne three years ago thanks to his decisive and wise demeanor. The dark forces within the Sunset Empire dare not create any disruption under his iron fist, resulting in a growing wealth in the national treasury.

Outside his door, his maid respectfully opened it. Sternly, Quan Yime commanded, "Summon the four guards!"

Four figures dressed in black appeared before Quan Yime as fast as lightning, bowing, "Your Majesty." These men were handpicked by Byinlog for their high combat abilities. Numerous attempts to assassinate Quan Yime had been thwarted by them, earning his trust and respect.

"What happened outside?" Quan Yime asked casually. He lived in a grand hall surrounded by confined corridors for added security, so he couldn’t see what was happening outside his front door.

The headguard, Shui Tian, reported in a hushed tone, "Your Majesty, there has been an incident. Byinlog has ordered all guards to their own positions and it appears there are enemy assassins. Moreover, the plants are growing uncontrollably at an unnatural speed and are attacking all patrol guards. Most of our guards have been incapacitated."

Quan Yime only raised an eyebrow with an ironic smile, "I wonder who dares to challenge my rule. Let’s find out." His calm demeanor showcased his defiance and royally as he and his guards left to investigate. As Quan Yime stepped outside his door, the sight of the grotesque, rapidly growing plants, at least ten times their original size, took his breath away.
