Chapter 322: Chapter 70: The Court of Justice Director _3

Xuan Ye smirked, "Do you think I would willingly visit uncle if there wasn’t something so important? I’m fully aware of his temper. Nevertheless, I have no choice but to proceed!"

Ballon laughed heartily and said, "Since you’re not afraid, I’ll take you to him. I’d like to see how you’ll manage to scrape through."

Xuan Ye grumbled, "Even as a deputy judge, you still behave like a child." The two of them headed towards the interior of the Court of Justice, gradually disappearing into the grand building.

As they were walking, Xuan Ye suddenly asked, "By the way, how are my sister-in-law and godson doing? I haven’t seen them for a while."

Ballon looked around to make sure no one was paying attention to them. Then, he forced a smile and said, "You surely know how tempestuous your sister-in-law is. It’s been tough for me! We have been arguing these past few days and it has left me unsettled."

Xuan Ye whispered, "Did she kick you out of bed again?"

Ballon flushed, "What do you think? I’ve lost count of how many times this has happened. I have no way to deal with her. I tread carefully around her every day, yet she still finds faults with me." He was born a henpecked husband. Even during his youth at the court, he was quite the popular figure, admired by numerous goddesses. However, he fell in love with an ordinary girl during a mission. The girl was stunningly beautiful, and he was captivated at first sight. But she barely noticed him and did not even consider his outstanding reputation at the court. Later, he found out that the girl was actually the daughter of a high-ranking noble of the Light Empire. He begged his father, who was the board’s chief judge, to personally propose marriage on his behalf. After much effort, Ballon finally managed to marry his beloved. He treasured his wife deeply, but she seemed indifferent to him regardless of his efforts to please her. They’ve been married for twenty years. In public, Ballon is a decorated Deputy Judge, but at home, he is practically a slave to his wife. The entire court knew about his submissive tendency towards his wife and often teased him about it. But Ballon did not care. His love for his wife grew stronger with age. He swore to fulfill all her desires. They had a son, now nineteen, who inherited his mother’s beauty and father’s martial arts talent. He was already gaining some fame in the Court of Justice.

Xuan Ye sighed and thought to himself how fortunate he was to have his wife. He then asked, "Even after all these years of marriage, has my sister-in-law’s temperament not changed at all?"

Ballon shook his head in despair, "You know well that in the beginning, she didn’t have any feelings for me. Despite all these years, she’s never shown me any affection. But the more she distances herself, the more I want to be good to her. The day she genuinely falls in love with me, I’ll happily walk to my death."

Seeing Ballon’s distress, Xuan Ye quickly changed the subject, "How is my godson doing? What’s the level of his martial arts skills now?" Their two families were close, so Ballon’s son naturally acknowledged Xuan Ye as his godfather, and Xuan Yue acknowledged Ballon as her godfather. Ballon adored Xuan Yue and wished she would quickly marry his son. Upon hearing Xuan Ye’s question, Ballon hurriedly replied, "How could my son possibly be deficient? I have taught him everything I know, all he lacks is experience. Last year, the Judgment Chief himself even personally tutored him for a month – even I have never been so honored! In the future, this boy will definitely surpass me. By the way, how is Yue Yue doing? It’s been a long time since I last saw her. I miss her."

Xuan Ye was well aware of Ballon’s intentions, he replied with a smile, "That girl is training with the Pope. She’s been in isolation for over half a year now."

Ballon laughed, "When did she become so dedicated? But it’s better this way. Both you and the Pope are our church’s leaders. It would be a pity if Yue Yue couldn’t inherit your divine power. The children are all grown up now, and we’re getting old. Have you thought about the matter I mentioned last time? Should we arrange their marriage? My silly boy is as infatuated with Yue Yue as I was at his age. He’s constantly told me that he won’t marry anyone except Yue Yue."

Xuan Ye sighed and thought about telling Ballon about his daughter’s and Ah Dai’s relationship. He only hoped that after accompanying him in training, she would forget that silly boy. "The kids are still too young, particularly Yue Yue who’s just 16. I can’t bear to marry her off so early. What’s your rush?"

Ballon laughed, "How can I not be? Yue Yue is so beautiful that many men would chase her in the future. But no matter how I see it, getting engaged at this point would not be a rush. I’ll take that as a yes!"

Xuan Ye chuckled, "You’re just like a child. I haven’t agreed to anything! I’ll discuss it with Natasha when I get home. Plus, Yue Yue has to agree too. I will never force my daughter to do something that she doesn’t want." He indeed wished to become in-laws with Ballon. But considering the current situation, how could he promise?

Ballon said disapprovingly, "Why isn’t my boy good enough for Yue Yue? Why are you so hesitant?"

Xuan Ye interrupted, "Ah, we’ve reached. This must be where uncle practices his meditation, right?" By that time, the two of them had reached a garden at the back of the court. At the end of the garden sat a small, lonely house, built from sturdy granite.
