Chapter 299: Chapter 65 The Secret of Catwoman_4
At this point, Horton had just counted to the number five; while Ah Dai’s voice was low, he still heard it and couldn’t help but be taken aback. He knew that using magic required powerful life energy. In his opinion, the summoning of a dragon, such a formidable creature, must demand enormous mental power. Ah Dai, heavily injured and poisoned, after all, couldn’t possibly accomplish this. The Catwoman reacted significantly faster than him, darting toward Ah Dai like a lightning bolt. Her sharp claws shone with an eye-catching green light as they reached for Ah Dai’s head.
A blue glow shone from Ah Dai’s chest, and a huge shadow abruptly materialized, colliding with the Catwoman. With a loud ’bang’, she was knocked backward in surprise, feeling as though she had struck a steel plate, and her claws throbbed painfully from the impact. The massive form of Sheng Xie emerged before them all, wholly blocking the relatively narrow alleyway. Anger filled Sheng Xie’s golden eyes; Ah Dai’s injury pushed him to the verge of exploding, While the Catwoman’s attack, although failing to penetrate his solid dragon scales, brought him immense pain. Without any hesitation, he exhaled a gray dragon breath teeming with an evil aura. Instantly, it blanketed the entire alleyway. The Catwoman grabbed onto Horton’s body and soared into the sky at a moment’s notice. The dragon breath surged beneath her feet. Nearly ten men in black clothes, standing too close and failing to react in time, affected by the narrow confines of the alleyway, turned into ashes before they could scream, scorched by Sheng Xie’s corrosive dragon breath.
With a wrathful roar, Sheng Xie unleashed another wave of dragon breath aimed at the airborne Catwoman. The catwoman’s bright blue eyes flashed continuously as she threw Horton aside. Her claws wove a fine net of attacks in the air. A barrier of green fighting energy enveloped her. Sheng Xie’s dragon breath was incredibly powerful. As it made contact with the fighting energy, she was shocked to find that her defensive energy was swiftly weakening. With the help of the impactful force, she managed to swoop away at a slant before the dragon breath could fully break through her defense, breaking out in a cold sweat.
Ah Dai sternly said, "Sheng Xie, guard us. Once I’ve dispelled the poison, I’ll assist you."
The alleyway was too narrow, preventing Sheng Xie from spreading his vast wings. However, his dragon breath deterred everyone. The Catwoman, Horton, and the crowd of cloaked figures stood far away, gazing in surprise at Sheng Xie’s massive form. In disbelief, Horton exclaimed, "This... this is impossible. A magician, heavily wounded, should not be able to invoke such a powerful spell. How did he still manage to summon a dragon?"
With cold sweat trickling down her icy-green eyes flashing with rage, the Catwoman, who had never been at such a disadvantage, determinedly said, "The dragon’s ability to move will surely be hindered as it defends those humans. This is our opportunity for a dispersed attack. Avoid direct confrontation, flank the dragon, and strike those humans first." That said, she led the charge, transforming into a translucent figure and bolted towards Sheng Xie. Naturally, she was again met with a breath of dragon fire. However, this time she was prepared. The Catwoman sidestepped to evade the immense energy. Her claws targeted Sheng Xie’s golden eyes. Looking disdainful, Sheng Xie countered. The eyes, far from being his weakness, were his greatest strength. Two golden beams burst forth, carrying an intense sacred aura and psychological shockwave towards the Catwoman, who in mid-air, was caught off guard. In the fray, she swatted a wave of fighting energy and swiftly somersaulted in mid-air. Her speed was truly astonishing; she managed to dodge Sheng Xie’s attack even in such a dire predicament.
While Sheng Xie was busy dealing with the Catwoman, the other black-clothed figures attacked from all directions. All manner of weapons mixed with differently colored fighting energies rained down, striking Sheng Xie from every angle. Given his restricted mobility in the narrow alleyway and the need to defend Ah Dai and others behind him, Sheng Xie was having some difficulty dealing with the situation. He managed to deter seven or eight attackers with his dragon breath but was hit by ten or more fighting energies. His Dragon scales protected his body, but the intense pain provoked his fury. He suddenly thrashed his enormous body, causing the walls on both sides to collapse instantaneously under his terrifying force. His giant wings, stretching over six meters, flapped toward the black-clothed men attacking him while he continuously exhaled dragon breath. Immediately, three more people died in his hands. The remaining men in black were thrown backward in the strong gust.
Standing at a distance, Horton sighed, "This is truly terrifying. The power of a dragon is indeed formidable."
The Catwoman landed beside Horton, the icy gleam in her eyes flickering incessantly. For the first time since her emergence, she felt the threat of death from the golden light shot out of Sheng Xie’s eyes. She suddenly crouched on the ground, her hands touching the floor. With a crisp "meow" coming out of her mouth, her ears elongated, and her claws grew double their original length. Her green eyes turned a deep green as her body transformed into a bolt of white electricity and lunged towards Sheng Xie.
Sheng Xie naturally perceived the incoming danger and countered with a forceful dragon breath. However, the Catwoman was too fast. She twisted in midair to dodge and heavily collided with Sheng Xie’s chest before he could react for the second time. Sheng Xie let out a harrowing scream as his body was forced three meters back; he narrowly avoided crushing Ah Dai, who was sitting cross-legged on the ground. His chest turned into a mound of blood and flesh as a portion of sturdy dragon scales cracked under the impact. This was the first time Sheng Xie had been gravely injured since his existence.
