Chapter 223: Chapter 49 - Great Progress in Skills_4
Perhaps due to the effect of True Qi, Ah Dai, who had significantly improved his skills in the last six months, looked a lot more upright than before. His deep and focused aura was undeniable. He appeared simple but steady, with a vague hint of grandeur akin to a martial arts expert.
At dawn, a shadowy figure looking like smoke darted out from a cave, making no sound. The rugged terrain was no hindrance, as it tumbled down like a green-grey puff of smoke, diving at great speed from the steep rear mountain to the foot of the hill. Behind him, a giant figure lifted into the air and chased after him. Soaring down from the mountaintop, it only needed to flap its wings to reduce impact when its speed got too high. In a short time, it had overtaken the grey shadow. Both figures darted down the mountain like two bolts of lightning. They were none other than Ah Dai, who had been practicing on Tian Gang Mountain for half a year, and his six-month-old friend, Sheng Xie, the Golden-eyed Holy Evil Dragon. They were beginning their indispensable morning routine.
The scenery continued to pass by Ah Dai’s side. Ever since he had gotten used to morning runs, this rapid-speed sensation made him feel incredibly comfortable. Completely enveloped in his True Qi, he gracefully deflected the incoming strong winds and nothing could affect his speed. Seeing Sheng Xie overtaking him, Ah Dai couldn’t help but feel exhilarated. He pushed the thick True Qi within him to its limit, emitting a dense white light that blazed around him as he darted down the mountain. Every time he finished a run, he was always behind, only catching up with Sheng Xie near the mountaintop. He knew clearly that soon, once Sheng Xie’s wings could fully support its weight, he would not be able to catch up with the dragon during their treks up the hill.
When Ah Dai was still a kilometer away from the foot of the mountain, he saw that Sheng Xie had suddenly stopped, folding its wings and standing under a large tree. Ah Dai landed beside it, panting slightly, and asked, "Xiao Xie, what’s wrong? Did you find something?" He remembered similar incidents where Sheng Xie had detected large wild animals. Those animals inevitably ended up being a delicious meal for Sheng Xie. Under sunlight, Sheng Xie’s seven golden horns on its back gleamed, and its golden eyes showed caution, as though it was searching for something. Even a tiger would fear the inherent terrifying aura of Sheng Xie. This was the first time Ah Dai saw it being so cautious which caught him off guard.
Suddenly, a rustling sound echoed, causing Sheng Xie to step back, lift one of its paws and sway its dragon head in the direction the sound had come from. Its eyes twinkled with cold light, readying itself for a fight.
Although Ah Dai was unsure of what was happening, he promptly activated his inner True Qi and a yellow light glowed around him. A Solid Energy Sword gradually emerged from his palm, its three-foot blade shimmering with enormous energy.
A large snake’s head emerged from the nearby bushes, its diameter easily exceeding half a meter. It constantly flicked its red tongue while its deep-blue scales shimmered. Its red eyes sparkled with cold light, Where the snake’s head stopped, its body, as thick as a bucket, followed. It glared warily at Sheng Xie. No matter how powerful a snake is, it is still a snake, and it naturally fears the strongest creature in the world--the dragon.
Sheng Xie was also wary of the snake, continuously growling lowly, its wings spread out, ready to unleash a deadly attack at any time.
Upon seeing the giant snake, Ah Dai couldn’t help but gasp. He couldn’t have imagined that such a terrifying creature existed in Tian Gang Mountain. With only part of its body revealed, its length was already around seven or eight meters. Its enormous body swayed constantly, seemingly looking for an opportunity to attack Sheng Xie. It apparently did not consider Ah Dai a threat at all.
Sheng Xie made the first move, flapping its wings and opening its mouth wide, instantly spewed out a grey energy blast that aimed towards the snake. The snake, terror clearly showing in its eyes, opened its mouth wide and let out a pink gas that was thick with fragrance. A hissing sound was heard as the fog and the grey light collided and vanished.
Ah Dai unintentionally inhaled some of the red fog the snake sprayed and instantly felt dizzy. Alarmed, he immediately activated his True Qi to expel the poison from his body.
Seeing that the poisonous fog it spat out could defend against Sheng Xie’s attack, the aura of fear around the snake vanished. It opened its mouth wide, revealing sharp, gigantic fangs, and maliciously approached Ah Dai and Sheng Xie.
Ah Dai floated into the air, transforming into a puff of smoke as he appeared behind the snake. Despite not wanting to kill, he preferred to act first rather than let humans fall victim to the snake’s fearsome mouth. The yellow Energy Sword decisively skewered the snake’s back. The snake, sensing danger, forcefully shook its body. The Energy Sword, created from True Qi, was mighty and invincible, though the snake’s tough scales halted it momentarily, the yellow glow still pierced its back.
The snake trembled all over and quickly swung its body. Its gigantic tail suddenly swept forward, and a powerful attack blasted toward the positioned Ah Dai on its back. Ah Dai dared not resist outrightly, so he withdrew his Energy Sword, floated into the air and dodged the snake’s attack. Inserting the Energy Sword into the snake’s body had exhausted him quite a bit. The snake’s deep-blue scales were incredibly resilient. If Ah Dai hadn’t put all his strength into his True Qi attack, it would have been challenging to penetrate the snake’s defense.
