Chapter 1482: Chapter 160 Clarifying Misunderstandings_4
"Yue Yue, I love you, I love you so much! Why are you so good to me? Does Ah Dai deserve this from you?"
"He does, he does. Ah Dai, I love you too! Unless you don’t want me anymore, otherwise, I will never leave you, and I will always stay by your side." ...
Yes! Yue Yue loves him; it was his misunderstanding, his abandonment of her. Ah Dai screamed madly, "Yue Yue, I wronged you!" Another mouthful of blood spurted out, and Ah Dai slammed heavily into a large rock. With a deafening crash, the rock turned to powder, and Ah Dai fell to the ground in despair, gasping heavily. Tears welled up and flowed continuously, dripping onto his dirt-stained collar. At this moment, all that remained in his heart was regret—nothing else could occupy it. Sitting on the ground, Ah Dai murmured to himself, "Yue Yue, Yue Yue, I love you, I love you so much! But how can I face you now? I’ve wronged you—I’ve wronged you. I don’t deserve your love." He stood up and once again flew off aimlessly into the distance.
Fifteen days later, on October 10th in the year 998 of the Holy Calendar. The Holy Church.
Ballon felt as if he could soar with joy. Just now—just now—he had received the single most exciting news of his life. The acting Red Priestess Xuan Yue of the Holy Church had announced that on November 1st of the year 998, she would marry him. The news spread instantly across the entire Divine Mountain of the Church and reached his ears. Everyone who saw him looked at him with envy and jealousy, showering him with blessings. Ballon was now heading to confirm this—he had to confirm with Yue Yue herself whether this was true. His heart pounded faster and faster, as if it were about to leap out of his chest. Ever since returning from the Tian Yuan Clan, the Pope seemed deeply dissatisfied with both his father and himself, withdrawing his previous favor entirely. He even sent Ballon’s father, Ballon Senior, along with a large group of clergy, out to sea to search for traces of the Dark Forces. During their half-year-long voyage, aside from eliminating over a dozen groups of pirates, they achieved nothing and had only just returned a few months ago. Due to his father’s loss of status, Ballon’s own standing in the Church had also plummeted. Since driving Ah Dai away in the Elf Forest, Xuan Yue had never paid him any attention, and he didn’t dare to approach the one he loved most. But today, this sudden good news made him forget everything; all he wanted was to see the woman he adored as soon as possible.
Xuan Ye, still holding the title of White Robe Priest, was currently in a state of deep unease. That very morning, during the Pope’s meeting, his daughter Yue Yue had announced, in front of everyone, her decision to marry the Judge of Light, Ballon. When Yue Yue made this announcement, her expression was extraordinarily calm, devoid of any emotion. Although this was the outcome Xuan Ye had long hoped for, now that the moment had arrived, an inexplicable sense of unease surged in his heart. After hearing Yue Yue’s declaration, the Pope erupted in anger, resolutely opposing Xuan Yue’s marriage. However, Yue Yue ultimately persuaded him. That moment continued to flash before his eyes.
......
"No, you cannot marry Ballon. You don’t love him," the Pope stated angrily. His refusal was partly for Yue Yue’s own happiness and partly because if Yue Yue married Ballon, the relationship between the Church and Ah Dai would become complicated, possibly irreparably so.
"Your Holiness, you are the one closest to the Sky God. According to the records of the Church’s historical texts, not even the Pope has the right to separate a union of clergy," Xuan Yue retorted coldly. Since becoming the acting Red Priestess, her authority in the Church had grown day by day, even surpassing that of the other two Red Robe Priests. Her Sacred Light Magic had also advanced at a staggering rate, and not even the Pope could be certain of how far his granddaughter had progressed in her cultivation.
"You... Xuan Yue Priestess, do you truly wish to marry someone you do not love?" The Church’s records indeed dictated that the Pope could not interfere in clergy marriages, leaving the Pope with no means to counter her.
"Your Holiness, how do you know I do not love Judge Ballon? He is the most outstanding Judge of Light among the younger generation of the Church. I have every reason to love him. My decision is final and unchangeable. Even if you oppose it, I will still marry Judge Ballon."
"Fine, fine. You’ve grown wings now, haven’t you? Do as you please, but don’t come crying to me later," the Pope said furiously before storming off.
......
The sound of knocking startled Xuan Ye from his thoughts. "Who is it?"
"Uncle Xuan Ye, it’s me, Ballon," came a voice from outside, filled with excitement and nervousness.
Xuan Ye opened the door to find Ballon standing at the entrance, dressed in a pale gold Samurai uniform. His handsome face and upright posture earned Xuan Ye’s silent nod of approval. "Oh, it’s you, Ballon. Come in," Xuan Ye said.
Ballon bowed respectfully to Xuan Ye. "Uncle Xuan Ye, it has been a long time. How have you been?" His excitement was evident, but the etiquette instilled in him by his father, Ballon Senior, had not been forgotten.
Xuan Ye smiled and replied, "No need for formalities, dear nephew." He gestured for Ballon to come inside.
"Ballon, is there something specific you need? Or did your mother send you to find Nasha? Unfortunately, she’s out and won’t be back until evening," Xuan Ye said, though he already knew why Ballon had come—he just chose not to reveal it.
Ballon, looking slightly embarrassed, said, "No, I didn’t come for Aunt Nasha. Uncle Xuan Ye, is Yue Yue here?"
Xuan Ye chuckled. "Silly boy, of course, you came to see Yue Yue. She’s meditating in her room. Try knocking on her door."
Ballon was overjoyed. "Thank you, Uncle Xuan Ye."
Xuan Ye patted Ballon’s shoulder and said, "Silly boy, in just a few days, you’ll have to change how you address me. Yue Yue’s heart is something you’ll have to win over yourself." He knew Xuan Yue did not love Ballon, so he could only hope his daughter would come to terms with everything.
Having indirectly confirmed his marriage to Yue Yue through Xuan Ye, Ballon’s happiness surged. He nodded repeatedly and said, "Yes, Uncle, I’ll do my best!" Having said that, he happily walked over to Yue Yue’s door and gently knocked twice.
"Didn’t I say not to disturb me while I’m meditating?" Xuan Yue’s cold voice sounded from within the room.
Hearing the voice of the one he loved, Ballon’s excitement grew even more. Steadying his racing heart, he said, "Yue Yue, it’s me, Ballon."
The room fell silent. After a long moment, Xuan Yue’s voice came again. "Come in."
Ballon’s heart leaped with joy as he pushed open the door and stepped inside. There, on the bed opposite him, sat Xuan Yue in meditation. She wore a flowing white dress, her blue hair cascading down her back. Her entire body was enshrouded in a golden glow, and the powerful Sacred Aura she emanated made Ballon feel ashamed of himself. Gazing at her breathtaking beauty, he was momentarily dazed.
Xuan Yue looked at Ballon, her eyes devoid of any emotion, and said coldly, "What is it you need from me?"
Ballon trembled and snapped out of his reverie. "Ah! I—I just wanted to see you."
A trace of a sneer appeared at Xuan Yue’s lips. "That’s not true. You came to confirm whether I really intend to marry you. I was the one who announced it, and now the news has been sent to every country on the continent. All you need to do now is go back and prepare. On November 1st, you’ll see me dressed in bridal robes."
Ballon stepped forward and, his voice trembling, said, "Yue Yue, do you truly want to marry me?"
An almost imperceptible flash of disgust crossed Xuan Yue’s eyes. She nodded faintly.
Unable to contain his emotions, Ballon instinctively reached out for her hand. But Xuan Yue’s golden aura flared mightily, forcing him several steps back. Her voice was icy. "I am not your wife yet. You cannot touch me."
Ballon, startled but undeterred, said quickly, "I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, Yue Yue. I was just too happy. Please don’t be mad."
Closing her eyes, Xuan Yue said, "Leave. There are many preparations for the wedding; that should be your focus."
"Yes, yes! I’ll make sure to prepare a grand wedding to welcome you. Yue Yue, I’ll make you the happiest bride. You continue meditating—I’ll leave now." With that, he turned and left in high spirits.
Once Ballon was gone, Xuan Yue reopened her beautiful eyes. They were filled with melancholy as she murmured softly, "Ah Dai... will you come? On November 1st, will you come?"
