Chapter 1424: Chapter 148: The Return of the Grim Reaper
Three days after leaving Soul City, Ah Dai and Mie Feng arrived at Dark City. Facing the long-missed City of Darkness, a bitter feeling surged in Ah Dai’s heart. He touched the portrait of Bing in his chest and murmured, "Bing, I know you don’t want to return to this filthy place. But to avenge Uncle Owen, I must come here again. Don’t worry, as long as I eliminate the assassins here, I will take you away from this place as quickly as I can." Mie Feng looked at Ah Dai’s lonely eyes and said coldly, "What are you muttering about? Who is Bing?"
Ah Dai sighed and said while heading towards the gates of Dark City, "Mie Feng, do you know? It’s because of Bing that you’re still alive."
Mie Feng’s interest got piqued, pressing on, "Who is Bing? Why don’t you kill me because of her?"
Returning to Dark City cracked the icy seal around Ah Dai’s heart, and he said somberly, "Bing was a very pitiful girl. If she had not sacrificed her life to save me, I would have long been dead..." Unable to hold back, he recounted the past events with himself and Bing. By the time he finished, tears had already dampened his clothes.
Hearing Ah Dai’s story, Mie Feng felt a blur before her eyes, "She really had a miserable fate, but she was also fortunate. At least she’s remembered by you all the time after her death."
Ah Dai wiped his tears with his sleeve and said, "Now you understand why I so desperately hate the Dark Forces, right? During your first assassination attempt on me, had your bearing not so strikingly resembled Bing’s, how could I have possibly shown mercy? Although my hatred for the Thief Guild is not as intense as for the Assassin’s Guild, it’s almost there."
Mie Feng replied, "You’ll never have the chance to deal with our Thief Guild. Because no one will lead you to find our hideouts."
Ah Dai glanced at Mie Feng and resumed his cold demeanor, responding indifferently, "Don’t be so certain. If I want to, your Thief Guild may not be able to hide forever. Come on, take me to the branch of the Assassin’s Guild here." Ah Dai’s gaze sent a shiver down Mie Feng’s spine as she recalled his lethal skills, involuntarily worrying for her own Guild.
Three hours later, Ah Dai and Mie Feng left. The only difference from when they had arrived was that Ah Dai had claimed dozens more lives. These assassins, although nightmares to everyone on the continent, were powerless against a supreme fighter like Ah Dai. Leaving Dark City, the murderous intent in Ah Dai’s eyes gradually faded, as he murmured, "Four Stealth Killers, eleven Assassins, twenty-three ordinary Assassins. This haul is quite substantial. Maybe, it won’t be long before the Assassin’s Guild President hidden in the shadows actively seeks me out."
Mie Feng found herself increasingly afraid of the seemingly dull youth before her. Every time she looked into his ice-cold eyes, her own firm resolve would waver. Now, even she was unsure if agreeing to Ah Dai’s conditions had been the right choice. But since she had already embarked on this path, there was no turning back.
One month later, at the Headquarters of the Assassin’s Guild.
In the dark, two red lights constantly flickered, and an oppressively heavy atmosphere filled the entire space.
"Mie Yi," a chilling and deep voice sounded.
"Master, please give your command." Since the original Vice President was demoted to a Stealth Killer by the Master, the group of seven, Mie Yi, had become the Master’s most powerful arm. He was now the leader of the Yuan Kill Squad.
"According to our information, the Grim Reaper has reappeared in the Empire of Sunset, and this time, he seems to be intentionally opposing the Assassin’s Guild. In the span of a month, he has destroyed all seven of our outposts in the Dark Province and the branch in the City of Darkness. Not a single survivor. What do you make of this provocative act?"
Mie Yi replied, "I’m already aware of this matter. However, we cannot yet confirm that it is Ah Dai, disciple of Hades, appearing this time. His method of killing seems different from before."
The Master acknowledged with a grunt, saying, "I’ve noticed this too. The previous Grim Reaper mostly used the Sword of Hades to kill. Even if he didn’t, he would kill the enemy brutally. But the outposts we’ve had attacked, every single casualty had only one body destroyed, with the others all perishing due to a steel-needle-like sharp object piercing through their brows."
Mie Yi thought to himself, do you even understand the word ’brutal’? This Grim Reaper is far behind when compared to you. But he said aloud, "You’re right. The Grim Reaper this time seems to have grown even stronger. I’ve seen the corpses. They seem to have been killed in one strike without putting up much of a resistance. Such formidable power is terrifying. If it is indeed Ah Dai, our position will be very bad. He harbors deep hatred for our Guild because of the matter with Hades, and the massacre is likely to continue. Particularly since he still has not used the Sword of Hades. I fear even we seven cannot contend with him."
The Master said, "Raising a tiger only invites trouble. If only I hadn’t tried to recruit him back then and killed him with a thunderous force when he first appeared, taking direct control of the Sword of Hades, we wouldn’t have so many troubles now. What puzzles me most is how he finds every single one of our hideouts so accurately?"
