Chapter 1405: Chapter 144: Turmoil in the Small Village

Harry chuckled, "It’s already pretty good, the ridges you dug are very neat. The weather has been fine this year, so I’m sure the vegetable seeds I plant will grow well in a few days. Come, let me take you back to the village."

Ah Dai thanked him and turned his head to look at Mie Feng, saying, "Uncle, I have one more companion."

Harry was startled, only then noticing Mie Feng standing not far away. In such a small place, where had he ever seen such a gorgeous beauty? He was instantly mesmerized.

Ah Dai said, "Uncle Harry, this is my companion, Mie Feng." While speaking, he glanced at Mie Feng.

Mie Feng, who always had a cold expression, walked next to Ah Dai and said indifferently, "Hello."

Although Mie Feng seemed quite rude, the power of beauty was extraordinary after all. Harry murmured, "Hello, miss. I’ve lived almost fifty years and this is the first time I’ve seen such a beautiful girl. What a treat for the eyes! Please, let me take you home." With that, he led the way to the village, not daring to look at Mie Feng anymore.

A strange thought suddenly struck Ah Dai. He wondered, what would Harry’s reaction be if he saw Xuan Yue, whose beauty surpassed Mie Feng’s?

Under Harry’s leadership, Ah Dai and Mie Feng entered the small village. Most of the villagers were out working, leaving the village quiet. All the houses were made of wood, appearing very simple.

Harry’s home had a small courtyard with four or five rooms. Although the interior was very simple, it was also very clean, giving a refreshing feeling. In the courtyard, there were chili peppers and corn drying, likely their daily food.

"Please take a seat for a while. My wife and kids are out working, they’ll be back soon. I’ll get you some water," Harry said before turning and leaving. Mie Feng and Ah Dai were left alone in the room. Mie Feng’s gaze suddenly softened a lot, and she said to Ah Dai, "You looked very comfortable while working just now."

Ah Dai was startled and replied, "Comfortable? I felt quite comfortable too. It would actually be nice to live in this small village for a lifetime."

Mie Feng’s expression turned cold again as she said lightly, "That’s impossible for you. Your life now belongs to me."

Ah Dai closed his eyes and said, "No, it’s not yours yet. Only when the Assassin’s Guild disappears from the continent will you have the right to claim it." The two reverted to normal, and the wooden house fell into silence.

After a while, Harry returned carrying a pot of tea, smiling slightly, "Here, try our local mountain tea, it’s quite good."

Drinking the mountain tea gave both Ah Dai and Mie Feng a transcendent feeling. The sun gradually set, and Harry’s family also returned home one after another. Harry had two sons and one daughter, the eldest daughter was married and usually didn’t come home. His two sons were both several years younger than Ah Dai and were not yet married. When they saw Mie Feng, their expressions were strikingly similar to Harry’s—almost drooling.

Mie Feng, looking at the two dazed young men in front of her, said impatiently, "What are you staring at? Haven’t you ever seen a beautiful woman before?"

The two young men exclaimed in unison, "Yes, we’ve never seen such a beautiful woman like you."

Mie Feng abruptly stood up from her seat, Ah Dai clearly felt the murderous aura emanating from her, and quickly stepped in front of Hak’s two sons, whispering, "What are you doing?"

Mie Feng snorted coldly, tore a piece of cloth from the hem of her blouse, and covered her face, "If you keep staring at me, don’t blame me for being rude."

Harry’s two sons were very simple-minded, and upon seeing Mie Feng’s cold gaze, they immediately became too nervous to speak. Harry, standing by, coughed twice and said, "You two must be tired from working all day, go rest now. I’ll call you when it’s time to eat." The two relieved young men hurriedly left the room.

Harry turned to Mie Feng and said, "Miss, don’t be angry. Your beauty is simply too enchanting, our village folks here can hardly resist the temptation! I’ll go help my wife cook." After saying that, he walked out of the room, Ah Dai could tell that Harry was somewhat displeased with Mie Feng. Yet, Ah Dai needed Mie Feng’s help and couldn’t blame her too much, so he huffed and closed his eyes.

During dinner, Mie Feng wore a veil, diminishing the temptation for Harry and his sons quite a bit. At the table, she only ate a little before returning to the room Harry had arranged for her to rest.

Watching Mie Feng leave, Harry whispered to Ah Dai, "Tell me, young man, what exactly is the relationship between you and this icy beauty? Is she some noble’s daughter who has fallen into misfortune? Why is she so temperamental? Although she is very beautiful, marrying such a wife would be suffering for a lifetime!" After saying that, he chuckled.

Ah Dai’s face flushed as he replied, "No, we’re just ordinary friends. Please don’t get the wrong idea. She’s not some noble lady, just a bit hot-tempered." Ha...
