Chapter 1395: Chapter 141: Renewed Vitality_3
Mang Siu and Yu Jian bowed and took their leave, retreating from the room. Xuan Ye and Xuan Yuan also led the returned group away from the Temple of Light, leaving only the Pope and Xuan Yue within. The Pope gazed at Xuan Yue and said, "Why don’t you go down and prepare? Are you so confident?"
Xuan Yue calmly replied, "I didn’t go down to prepare because I knew you had something to tell me. Moreover, I am confident in reaching the level of a Red Robe Priest; why bother preparing for anything else?"
The Pope’s tense expression softened, and he sighed. Approaching Xuan Yue, he looked at his granddaughter’s delicate face and said, "Yue Yue, what’s wrong with you? Didn’t you go looking for Ah Dai? How come you returned so soon? Did you not find him?" Xuan Yue answered, "I found him, but in the Pu Yan tribe, Prophet Pu Lin informed us that the Church was in trouble in the Elf Forest, so I hurried over there. It just so happened that I joined up with father and the others and we returned to the Church together."
"What about Ah Dai? Didn’t he come back with you?" the Pope asked.
A desolate light flickered deep in Xuan Yue’s eyes as she serenely said, "He’s gone. He said he’s gone forever and will never return."
The Pope was startled and said, "Gone? What exactly happened between you two?"
"I don’t wish to talk about those matters. If you want to know, you can ask Priest Xuan Ye or Judgment Chief Xuan Yuan. They will tell you the answer. I’m sorry, Your Holiness, I must go prepare for the upcoming test and leave now." Having said this, she turned and made her way towards the exit of the Temple of Light.
"Wait a moment. I won’t press you on these matters, but tell me, was the recent miraculous rain of light caused by Ah Dai?" the Pope asked.
Xuan Yue’s whole body trembled, her mind suddenly filled with the scene by the river with Ah Dai from the other day, and her heart ached intensely. She silently nodded and then left the Temple of Light.
The Pope watched Xuan Yue’s disappearing figure and muttered to himself, "It’s them; it really is them. Now I can be certain that they are the Saviors."
Exiting the grand hall, Xuan Yue took a deep breath of the familiar air of the Church and slowly walked towards her home. Before she could enter, she heard her mother’s cries of pain. A suppressed feeling spread throughout her body, and Xuan Yue pushed the door open. Inside, she saw her father, Xuan Ye, sitting in a daze, while her mother was sobbing on the bed; it was evident she already knew about Grandfather Na Yan’s death.
Upon hearing the door open, Na Sha raised her head. When she saw her daughter, her grieving heart felt slightly relieved. Xuan Yue walked over to Na Sha and whispered, "Mother, the dead cannot be brought back to life; please don’t be sad. Grandfather didn’t die in vain; I will surely avenge his death."
Na Sha embraced her daughter. How could she not be saddened by her father’s death? Even though Na Yan had always been strict with her, she knew that everything her father had done was for her own good. Moreover, the bond of blood was strong. Xuan Yue felt her mother’s sorrow and slowly infused her with The Light of Tranquility, soothing the grief in her mother’s heart. As the seconds ticked by, Xuan Ye sighed and said, "Yue Yue, it’s time for you to go to the Temple of Light for the examination."
After crying for a full hour, Na Sha’s sorrow was somewhat lessened. Hearing Xuan Ye’s words, she looked at her daughter in surprise and said, "Yue Yue, what test are you going to take?"
Leaning against her mother, Xuan Yue answered, "Mother, Grandfather was a Red Robe Priest. Now that he has passed away, how can I let someone else take his place? I want to succeed him and become the new Red Robe Priest. The Pope has already agreed that as long as I can match either of the two Red Robe Priests, Mang Siu or Yu Jian, he will let me temporarily take over the position."
Na Sha was shocked, "What? You are to spar with two Red Robe Priests, how is this possible? Yue Yue, you must know that the rank examinations in the Church are a matter of life and death, left to fate."
Strong confidence shone in Xuan Yue’s beautiful eyes as she calmly said, "Mother, don’t worry. I know my own strength; I won’t hurt any of the Red Robe Priests. I need to go now." Without waiting for Na Sha’s response, she instantly disappeared from the room using Short-Distance Teleportation. Na Sha, watching her daughter vanish into thin air, shuddered and turned to her husband, asking, "What’s happened to Yue Yue? Why has she suddenly changed so much?"
With a soft sigh, Xuan Ye said, "Don’t worry. Yue Yue’s strength is now no less than my own, she is more than capable of bearing the responsibility of a Red Robe Priest. Ah, Na Sha, there’s no need for you to go; I’ll keep an eye on Yue Yue at the grand hall. It’s better to be cautious."
Na Sha shook her head, "No, I must go. I’ve already lost my father; I can’t lose my daughter, too. I want to accompany you."
When Xuan Yue arrived at the front of the Temple of Light, it was already crowded with a multitude of priests and Judges. The Sacred Knights were stationed around the outer perimeter of the Church mountain; without the Pope’s command, no one was allowed to enter the inner mountain indiscriminately.
The Red Robe Priests Mang Siu and Yu Jian stood at the entrance of the Temple. They, along with Na Yan, were the closest of friends. Na Yan was the oldest among the four Red Robe Priests and was deeply respected and beloved by them; his death made the two senior Red Robe Priests, both in their seventies, very sad. Today, when Xuan Yue proposed to take Na Yan’s place, although surprised, they both decided that as long as Xuan Yue’s cultivation wasn’t too lacking, they would fulfill her wish. This was also to do something in memory of the deceased Na Yan. Na Sha’s concerns were completely superfluous; for whatever reason, neither Mang Siu nor Yu Jian would ever harm Xuan Yue.
