Chapter 1242: Chapter 109: Blade of the Wind God_3
The ninth match held no suspense whatsoever; with just a few clashes of magic, Gu Tian easily secured victory, defeating an opposing Magus and bringing the score to five to four. In the tenth match, Feng Zhi personally entered the fray and effortlessly took down his opponent, bringing both sides back to the starting line. However, the following matches proved to be a shock for Feng Zhi and the other three elders. The opposing Magicians were surprisingly formidable, and in the subsequent six matches, they won four, bringing the score to nine to seven. With just one more victory, they would achieve final triumph. The contest had been going on for a full day, and as the sunset slowly descended in the west, its dying light stained the clouds red. At this moment, the critical phase of the competition between the two sides had arrived.
Sweat was already streaming down Feng Zhi’s face; the situation was highly unfavorable for the Continental Mage Guild. This competition was a matter of the Guild’s honor and they absolutely could not afford to lose. Gritting his teeth, he turned to Olivia beside him and said, "For the final victory of the Guild, you must take action. Remember, show no mercy. Start with your most powerful attack to defeat the opponent and boost our morale."
For the seventeenth match, the Continental Mage Guild sent forth the challenger first. Excitement gleamed in Olivia’s eyes; how glorious it was to fight for the honor of one’s own Guild! He walked slowly to the center of the arena and announced loudly, "Continental Mage Guild’s Magician Olivia seeks guidance." Up until now, those representing the two Guilds had been veteran Magicians over fifty years of age. When the youthful Olivia appeared, he instantly drew condescension and a ripple of laughter from the Tian Jing Mage Guild. Indeed, who would take a young Magician seriously?
"Has the Continental Mage Guild run out of people? They actually sent a wet-behind-the-ears kid to fight. It’d be better to just concede."
"You don’t understand, this young Magician! He must be the illegitimate son of that old geezer Kary, trying to win some face for his old man, huh? Haha..."
Listening to the opponent’s mockery, Olivia did not get angry. He still wore a faint smile and asked, "Who deems to enlighten me?" Since he was five years old, he had been engaging with magic, his passion surpassing anyone else’s; otherwise, he would not have achieved such success at his age. He knew well that maintaining a stable mindset was crucial to fully exert one’s strength in a magic duel. The jeers from the opposition were just boring noise to him, incapable of catching his attention. Feng Zhi watched his disciple’s composed demeanor with a trace of relief in his smile.
Pu Tian and Gorisong conferred briefly; with three chances for a final victory, they were naturally in no hurry since they held the winning ticket. They chose to send forth a Magician proficient in the Water Element to meet the challenge.
The Water Element Magician was about sixty, short, and stout, with the Mage Robe tightly wrapping his "plump" figure, and a smug smile on his chubby face. He pointed his inharmoniously long-handled Magic Wand at Olivia and declared, "Tian Jing Mage Guild’s Water Element Magician Tang De will be your opponent. Kid, prepare to be turned into an icicle." His words once again elicited laughter from his colleagues. In reality, Pu Tian and Gorisong were not as dismissive of Olivia as their subordinates. Tang De was quite renowned within the Tian Jing Mage Guild, possessing a temperament as arrogant as Gorisong’s but also the skills to back it up. Among the Guild’s Magicians, his powers were supreme, verging on that of a Magus. Hence he was charged with this critical task.
In the current match, Olivia had been meditating at the rear of the team, restoring the Magic Power he had previously lost. Now, he was back to peak condition. Although he knew his opponent was strong, there was not a hint of fear in him; he believed that the magic he so dearly loved would surely defeat the adversary. With a wave in the void, a Space rift appeared, and the Staff of Wind God floated into Olivia’s hands.
The use of Space rift instantly silenced the laughter from the Tian Jing Mage Guild, for every Magician knew that this magic required the skills of a high-ranking Mage, or even a great Magician, to perform.
Tang De squinted his already small eyes and glanced at the seemingly unspecial Staff of Wind God in Olivia’s hand and said, "Kid, let’s begin. Gentle water, crystallize into ice, coalesce and remain, eternal frost light, burst forth, Power of Water Element." He used the same sixth-level Water Element magic as Yu Yuan, the Extreme Freezing Ice Sphere. Under his deliberate control, blue light continued to form in front of him, and the Ice-sealing ball rapidly grew larger, with sharp ice spikes emerging from the sphere. Soon, the magic began to take shape.
Contrary to Tang De’s use of a high-level Spell, Olivia had no intention of confronting the opponent head-on. He swiftly cast the Wind Sailing Technique on himself and floated lightly towards Tang De. The Staff of Wind God amplified the attack, and without chanting any Spell, a low-level Wind Blade sped towards Tang De. Startled, Tang De did not dodge; as a Magician not adept in close combat, nearly every one of them possessed the capability to defend against close-range attacks, and he was no exception. A Magic Scroll flew out, and a mist of water spread out, instantly blocking Olivia’s attack.
