Chapter 1126: Chapter 84 Mage Guild_2

Ah Dai, realizing only then that his status in the Mage Guild had been called upon, rose into the air and landed in front of the magicians where the numbers were fewer, asking, "Why are you attacking? How have they become traitors? Could it be they are magicians from the Empire of Sunset City?" In his heart, only those magicians from the Empire of Sunset City, who had been bought with money, were capable of betraying the Guild.

The magician who recognized Ah Dai’s identity spoke with hatred, "They are not from the Empire of Sunset City, but are people under Tian Jing Empire’s Larthas. Elder, please help us eliminate them quickly," he said.

The magicians from the side with more numbers muttered to each other for a moment, then suddenly, more than a dozen of them chanted spells quickly. Under the urging of the spells, a flurry of Attack Magic from various systems burst forth, heading toward Ah Dai and his companions. The magicians beside Ah Dai were taken aback and hurriedly began chanting Defense Spells, fearing they’d be caught in the other side’s Magic Attacks.

Ah Dai hadn’t even understood the situation when he found himself being attacked for no apparent reason, feeling a surge of anger within. With a wave of his hands in the air, he conjured a much larger Shield. Though increasing the area might cause the energy to disperse, the Shield itself was the bane of magic. With his current power, he naturally could withstand the oncoming Magic Attacks. The Attack Magic of various systems exploded against Ah Dai’s Defense Shield in a burst of brilliant colors but couldn’t inflict any damage. The Protection Barriers set up by the magicians behind Ah Dai became mere decorations. As the dazzling magic light faded, Ah Dai and the magicians around him saw that those dozen or so magicians had left their original positions. Under the effect of the Acceleration Art, they were quickly moving away. It turned out, seeing that their enemies had strong reinforcements, they’d decided to advance as a way to retreat, launching a powerful wave of attacks before swiftly withdrawing.

Ah Dai stopped the magicians beside him who wanted to pursue. Without a clear understanding, he wasn’t about to easily consider any side his enemy. He grabbed the magician who had recognized him and asked, "Stop chasing them, they have more people. First, tell me what exactly is happening? Aren’t we all magicians? Why are we attacking each other?"

The magician replied, "Elder, my name is Asier. Haven’t I already told you? They are Larthas’s people."

Ah Dai scratched his head and said, "Larthas? That name sounds familiar, but I can’t seem to remember. I have not been a member of the Guild for long, could you explain more clearly?"

Asier was taken aback for a moment, then sighing as he looked at the magicians who were gradually disappearing in the distance, he explained, "Larthas is the State Preceptor of the Tian Jing Empire, one of the three great Magicians in the world outside the Church, proficient in Fire Magic and holds a very high status within the Tian Jing Empire. Originally, all the Magicians of the nations on the continent were under our Guild’s management. But ever since this guy Larthas came into the picture, things changed. He’s even more domineering than Ruok, the Chief Court Magician of the Empire of Sunset City, and, with his great power, he has taken all the Magicians under the flag of the Tian Jing Empire under his own control, proclaiming himself Chairman of the Mage Guild. Therefore, two Mage Guilds have appeared on the continent, of course, our Guild is the legitimate one. Those people a moment ago were under Larthas, we were commanded by Chairman Kary to go to the Yajin Tribe to purchase some Magical Ores, and unexpectedly, we encountered those self-righteous bastards here. They claimed that their Mage Guild is the legitimate one, and naturally, we had to retort. One word led to another, and both sides started fighting. Who knew they would be so unreasonable, with more than a dozen attacking us simultaneously, so we ended up on the defensive. Thank goodness you arrived just in time. Otherwise, we might have died at the hands of those vile people."

Turns out, the Mage Guild had split into two factions after Larthas emerged. Although Larthas was extraordinarily strong, he had not the deep roots that the original Mage Guild had. He only had two Mages at the Magus level under him, whereas Kary’s side of the Mage Guild, including Kary himself, had ten Magicians at the Magus level. The power of both sides was comparable and had always been conflicting. Kary’s side, being the original Mage Guild, had its main forces concentrated in the Empire of Washington, while Larthas’s influence was mainly in the Tian Jing Empire. The magicians from the Empire of Sunset City had always been looked down upon for being influenced by the Dark Forces and were not an object of contention for either side, whereas the magicians from the Federation had become the object of their struggle. Up until now, Kary’s side had been holding the advantage with an absolute superiority in numbers.

After hearing Asier’s account, Ah Dai couldn’t help but feel a headache. He was extremely fed up with these power struggles and involuntarily gave a wry smile, "If we are all magicians, why divide us at all? The number of Magicians on the continent is already low, won’t continued infighting further affect the status of Magicians on the continent?"

Asier frowned and said, "Elder, these are not matters we ordinary Magicians can handle. If you have the chance, you should talk to Chairman Kary. We have quite a few people nearby, and since we’ve sent a signal just now, they should be arriving soon. Once everyone is here, we won’t fear Larthas’s subordinates. Elder, where are you heading? Why don’t you lead us in pursuit?" He couldn’t understand how this young Elder could be speaking for those traitors. The conflict between the two Guilds had not been a day or two’s affair. It wasn’t something that could be given up so easily.
