Chapter 1063: Chapter 71: Ah Dai’s Heart_3

Yan Shi stood there, plunged into a trance. His fury had been fueled by his concerns for Ah Dai’s safety. Throughout their journey, he had come to see Ah Dai as his own brother. How could he not care about Ah Dai with such profound feelings? When the cold gleam was thrust at Ah Dai, his heart had clenched tight. It had been a relief to see Ah Dai gain the upper hand, but then he had unexpectedly embraced the woman who sought to kill him. That was why Yan Shi had erupted. Now, seeing the pain on Ah Dai’s face, Yan Shi realized that he had paid too little attention to Ah Dai over the past month. Bing’s death had impacted Ah Dai even more severely than he had imagined. Ah Dai was inherently simple and, facing such a heavy blow, naturally found it hard to recover.

Yan Li walked up to his elder brother, appearing much more composed. In a low voice, he said, "Let him cry. It will ease his heart a bit."

Zhuo Yun, like an elder sister, kept gently stroking Ah Dai’s black hair, comforting his trembling soul with her tenderness. After some time, both Ah Dai and Zhuo Yun were seated on the ground. Ah Dai’s crying gradually ceased, and his body limply rested in Zhuo Yun’s warm, soft embrace. He actually fell asleep there.

Yan Shi walked over to Zhuo Yun. Seeing the motherly smile on her face, his heart, cold from the death of Yun Er, began to stir. Zhuo Yun’s kindness and gentleness reminded him so much of his own Yun Er. Zhuo Yun also saw him and signaled for him to be quiet with a gesture, whispering, "He has finally relaxed his mind; let’s not disturb him and allow him a good sleep. When he wakes up, he will surely feel much better." As she spoke, a tender smile spread across her face. To Yan Shi, this smile was so captivating; it was as if his Yun Er had returned. In that moment, he suddenly understood why Ah Dai had cried out Bing’s name when he saw that girl intending to assassinate him. The words Yun Er almost slipped from his lips.

Mie Feng had not gone far. She had previously fled, not running far before quietly doubling back. She didn’t know why she returned, especially when there was no longer a chance to assassinate. Just then, she had seen Zhuo Yun holding Ah Dai as he cried his heart out. Watching Ah Dai’s body tremble, a sudden, inexplicable pain struck her heart. Although she didn’t understand why this suddenly powerful young man was crying, she faintly felt it was related to the name Bing he had cried out. Remembering the moment Ah Dai had embraced her, the usually calm Mie Feng felt her heart in turmoil. Hidden among the bushes, she unwittingly became entranced. When she saw Ah Dai fall asleep in Zhuo Yun’s arms, a hint of jealousy surged within her. Startled by her feelings, Mie Feng shook her head forcefully. What am I thinking? He is my enemy! How could I feel this way? It’s no longer possible to seek revenge now; I’ll find another chance later. With these thoughts, she silently slipped away, but not without sparing Ah Dai one last look. She then floated away.

Ah Dai slept for a long time, only waking up as the sun was setting. So comfortable! It had been a month since he last slept so soundly. He slowly opened his eyes to find himself resting on Zhuo Yun’s lap, pressed against her delicate body with her arm over his shoulder, as she dozed off. His body jerked slightly as he recalled the earlier events. The sorrow in his heart seemed to have dissolved during that crying; no longer feeling stuffy or painful, he felt indescribable relief. He took a deep breath, intending to sit up but accidentally awakened Zhuo Yun. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Zhuo Yun looked at him with a smile, her voice soft, "Ah Dai, you’re awake."

Ah Dai’s face turned red. He sat up straight, noticing Yan Shi and his brothers asleep beside a roadside tree, while he and Zhuo Yun were still in the middle of the road. Luckily, this place was remote, hardly ever frequented by passersby. Lowering his head, slightly embarrassed, he said, "Zhuo Yun sister, I... I..."

Zhuo Yun smiled, "It’s okay, don’t say it. In sister’s eyes, you are the kindest younger brother. The past should not be forgotten, but you must go on living and not dwell in sorrow. Step forward. Facing it bravely, is the best choice. Tomorrow will be better." Zhuo Yun struggled to stand, but her body was a bit stiff, causing her to sway slightly.

Ah Dai quickly supported Zhuo Yun’s arm, "Sister, be careful." Zhuo Yun’s words finally brought Ah Dai out of his sorrow. Zhuo Yun’s tenderness, providing him care like that of a mother. A deep sibling bond was established in that moment. Zhuo Yun moved her delicate body, feeling much more comfortable. She gestured towards Yan Shi and his brothers, saying, "Call them up. We’re not far from Mica City, let’s rest there. It’s remote here, and it will definitely get cold at night." Indeed, the weather in May still carried a chill.

Ah Dai walked over to Yan Shi, recalling his recent words. He clearly understood the concern Yan Shi and his brothers had for him. Remembering how rough his emotions had been over the course of that month, he felt a surge of guilt. He patted Yan Shi on the shoulder, "Big brother, let’s get going. It’s time to hit the road."

Yan Shi opened his bleary eyes, seeing that it was Ah Dai who had awakened him, a trace of joy appeared on his face, "Brother, you’re awake. If big brother’s words were too harsh earlier, don’t mind them."
