Chapter 1061: Chapter 71: Ah Dai’s Heart
Xuan Yuan nodded silently and said, "I hope he can also become the same motivation for me. Thank you, big brother." After finishing speaking, he walked toward his own room without looking back.
The Pope sighed and felt a wave of sadness as he watched his brother’s figure. They had been separated shortly after birth, and by the time Xuan Yuan returned, his brother had already become a Red Bishop. His younger brother was extremely competitive and always troubled by the fact that he could not surpass him. He was training desperately not only to challenge the four Sword Saints but also to exceed his own limits.
A month passed, and Ah Dai’s group, following the map, had searched four larger cities within the Dark Province to no avail; not a single Elf could be found. Ah Dai became very quiet. It was rare to hear his voice during the day, which worried the Yan Shi brothers, yet there was nothing they could do.
Spreading out the map, Yan Shi said, "In the Dark Province, we only have the last big city, Mica City, left. If we can’t find any traces of the Elf Clan there, we will move on to the next province." Mica City was located on the far western edge of the Dark Province and, according to the map, was second only to Dark City. They were still about twenty-odd miles away from the city.
After a month of recovery, the Elf girl Zhuo Yun’s state of mind had completely calmed down. She was a peaceful girl, very easily shy, and would usually follow quietly behind the three companions. Whenever they rested, she would proactively take care of the trio’s living arrangements, earning her a lot of goodwill from them.
"Ah Dai, could you cheer up a bit? Don’t always be so silent," complained Yan Li, looking at Ah Dai who walked with his head down.
Ah Dai lifted his head, his eyes filled with a lost expression. He had avenged Ice halfway, but for some reason, other than feeling relieved at the beginning, his mood had fallen into the depths again. Whenever he remembered Ice’s deep affection for him before her death, he felt the urge to weep. "Sorry, big brother Yan Li, I just don’t want to speak."
Yan Shi sighed and said, "Ah Dai, what’s done is done. Don’t dwell on it anymore. You’ve already avenged Miss Ice, and I believe her Heavenly Spirit is at peace now. She wouldn’t want to see you like this. You need to pull yourself together!"
Ah Dai forced a smile and said, "Big brother, I will. Let’s hurry up. Aren’t we still looking for Elves in Mica City?"
While moving forward, Ah Dai suddenly felt a chill all over his body, as if something terrifying was about to emerge. He heightened his alertness and looked around but found nothing unusual. Just then, without warning, the ground beside him exploded in a cloud of dust, which spread out towards the four of them. Hidden behind the dust was a glint of cold light, aiming straight for Ah Dai’s chest. Having experienced many dangers, Ah Dai was no longer the innocent young man he had been when he first set foot on the continent. A fierce glint appeared in his eyes, his True Qi surged out of his body, keeping the dust at bay, and his left hand drew an arc in front of him, a yellow aura of fighting spirit formed a shield. A clang resounded as the cold light struck the shield created by Ah Dai’s True Qi, which seemed determined to pierce through his defense. This past month, Ah Dai had grown stronger as he had begun to absorb the energy from the second Golden Body in his chest. His True Qi was formidable, not so easily breached. He gave a cold shout, his left hand continuously channeling True Qi to ward off the sharp assault, while his right hand conjured a Light Blade and slashed towards the assailant, the surging energy clearing the dust from the air, the yellow light flashing towards its target instantly.
The attacker clearly had not anticipated Ah Dai’s swift response. The assailant’s body flickered like lightning, moving beside Ah Dai with swift and effective movements – the cold lights aimed at his throat and towards his abdomen, like flowing water. A deadly intent firmly locked onto Ah Dai’s body. Ah Dai felt a strange sense of familiarity facing these cold lights. He was no longer the Ah Dai of the past; while the enemy was fast, he was equally swift. Dodging to the side, he waved his hands through the air, the yellow aura of True Qi stretching out like soft silk threads, entangling the attacker.
The assailant seemed to be shocked by the pressure of the True Qi, retreating with all their might, but still got caught by some of the threads, ripping a sound as the veil covering the attacker’s face was torn away, revealing a stunning yet cold visage. The girl cried out in surprise and withdrew quickly, retreating about thirty feet away.
Ah Dai stood rooted to the spot, staring unwaveringly at the girl before him who had just tried to take his life, not because of her beauty, but because her cold appearance, that expression, was so reminiscent of Ice. The hatred in her eyes felt eerily familiar to Ah Dai, and he couldn’t help but blurt out, "Ice—"
The girl paused and didn’t attack again. Yan Shi and his brother, as well as Elf Zhuo Yun, had also come to their senses and stood around Ah Dai, glaring at the girl before them. When they heard Ah Dai call out the name Ice, they were all stunned. Although the girl before them was as beautiful as Ice, she didn’t resemble her. However, her cold demeanor seemed identical.
