Chapter 1036: Chapter 65 The Secret of the Cat Woman_4
At this moment, just when Horton had reached the count of five, Ah Dai’s voice, though low, was still heard by him, causing Horton to pause slightly in surprise. He knew that using magic required a strong life energy, and as far as he was concerned, summoning a powerful creature like a dragon demanded an immense spiritual power—something Ah Dai, gravely injured and poisoned as he was, should have been incapable of. The reaction of the cat woman was much faster than his; with lightning speed, she pounced toward Ah Dai, her sharp claws gleaming with dazzling green light, swiping at Ah Dai’s head.
A blue radiance burst forth from Ah Dai’s chest, and the massive shadow of Sheng Xie appeared abruptly, colliding with the cat woman. With a loud bang, the cat woman was sent reeling backward in surprise, feeling as though she had crashed into a steel plate. Her claws tingled with pain from the impact. Sheng Xie’s towering form stood before everyone, completely blocking the not-so-wide alley with its massive body. Anger filled Sheng Xie’s golden eyes. Ah Dai’s injuries had brought him to the brink of eruption, and although the cat woman’s attack didn’t penetrate his tough scales, it caused him great pain. Without hesitation, he sprayed a breath of grey Dragon Breath infused with Evil Aura, instantly covering the entire alley. The cat woman grabbed Horton and swiftly rose into the air as the Dragon Breath rushed below her feet. About ten men in black, too close and too slow to react, were taken by surprise. Due to the alley’s narrow confines, they couldn’t even scream before being reduced to ashes by Sheng Xie’s corrosive Dragon Breath.
With a roar, Sheng Xie sent another burst of Dragon Breath at the cat woman in the air. Her green eyes flickered rapidly as she tossed Horton aside and wove a tight net of attacks with her claws in midair. She conjured a green aura of battle energy in front of herself, but Sheng Xie’s Dragon Breath was overpoweringly strong. As soon as it made contact with her battle energy, to her astonishment, it began to rapidly dissipate. Using the force of the collision, she drifted out of the way just before the Dragon Breath completely broke through the battle energy, causing her to break out in a cold sweat.
Ah Dai said coldly, "Sheng Xie, protect us. Once I’ve dispersed the poison, I’ll come and help you."
The alley was simply too narrow, preventing Sheng Xie from stretching out his colossal wings. But his Dragon Breath was something everyone deeply feared. The cat woman, Horton, and all the men in black stood in the distance, shocked by Sheng Xie’s gigantic form. Horton exclaimed in disbelief, "This, this is impossible. A Magician who has suffered such heavy damage cannot possibly chant a powerful spell. How could he still have summoned a dragon?"
The cat woman was terrified, cold sweat covering her body. Had her reflexes been even a fraction slower, she would undoubtedly have been turned to ashes by the fearsome Dragon Breath. Anger flashing in her beautiful eyes, she said, "That dragon, being so focused on guarding those few people, must be very immobile right now. Take this chance, everyone spread out and attack from all directions. Do not confront it head-on; get to its back and kill those humans first." Having said that, she led the charge, turning her body into a faint shadow and darting towards Sheng Xie like lightning. What welcomed her was, naturally, another blast of Dragon Breath. This time, the cat woman was ready; she tilted her body slightly to the side, dodging the rush of immense energy. Her claws reached for Sheng Xie’s large head and its golden eyes. Sheng Xie’s gaze showed contempt, for his golden eyes were not his weakness but the source of his strongest powers. Two beams of golden light, carrying a Sacred Aura and mental shock, shot out towards the cat woman. Caught off guard in midair, she hastily released a surge of battle energy and tumbled rapidly, managing to narrowly evade Sheng Xie’s attack despite being in dire straits with her remarkable speed.
While Sheng Xie was dealing with the cat woman, the rest of the black-clothed men lunged from all directions. Various weapons, each infused with differently colored battle energy, rained down, attacking Sheng Xie. In the confines of the alley, Sheng Xie found movement difficult, and concerned for Ah Dai and the others behind him, he struggled to fend them off. He managed to push away seven or eight with his Dragon Breath, but more than a dozen others managed to strike him with their battle energy. His scales protected him, yet the intense pain angered Sheng Xie. His body shook violently, and the walls on either side collapsed under his tremendous force. His vast wings, spanning more than six meters, spread fully and beat at the attacking men in black, while he continued to breathe out Dragon Breath, instantly killing three more. The others were forced to retreat in the powerful gale.
Horton, standing at a distance, sighed, "Truly terrifying. The power of a dragon is indeed formidable!"
The cat woman landed beside Horton, her eyes flashing with cold fury. Never in her career had she encountered such a setback. The golden light from Sheng Xie’s eyes had, for the first time, made her feel the threat of death. The cat woman suddenly squatted down, hands touching the ground, and let out a sharp "meow." Her ears grew longer, her claws doubled in length, and her eyes turned dark green. In a flash, her body became a bolt of white lightning as she charged again at Sheng Xie.
Sheng Xie, of course, sensed the threat in front of him and responded with a burst of Dragon Breath. The cat woman’s movements were incredibly fast; with a bizarre twist in midair, she avoided the Dragon Breath. Amid the thunderous noise, before Sheng Xie could react a second time, she had already struck his chest heavily. Sheng Xie let out a pitiful scream as his body was forced to stagger back three meters, nearly crushing Ah Dai, who was sitting cross-legged on the ground. His chest was badly mangled, and the tough scales had been shattered by the cat woman’s impact. It was the first time in Sheng Xie’s life that he had suffered such severe damage.
