Chapter 1023: Chapter 63: Ice’s Deterrence

With a light sigh, Xuan Yue donned her cool garments one by one before slowly stepping out. As she reached the corridor, a humorous scene unfolded before her. Ah Dai was completely drenched, with droplets continuously streaming down from his hair tips. He was leaning against the wall, not daring to glance at himself, the once profound Magician from the casino had vanished, and now he appeared as a shy young boy. Observing this Magician who was a few years younger than herself, for the first time, a tender feeling stirred in Xuan Yue’s heart. She stopped beside Ah Dai, and spoke indifferently, "You can’t understand my life, and I hope you won’t disturb me. It’s none of your business anyway. Since you don’t want my body, I’ll leave." Finishing her words, she turned and headed for the door. Arriving at the doorway, a hint of hesitation flashed across her eyes as she lowered her voice, "A piece of advice, leave this place as soon as possible, otherwise..." She paused, not continuing further, opened the door, and left.

Listening to Xuan Yue’s fading footsteps, Ah Dai finally let out a sigh of relief, feeling a slight weakness in his body—even climbing back and forth on Mount Tian Gang hadn’t tired him as much as this. Reflecting on the "touching" scene from moments ago, his face couldn’t help but turn deep red. It took a long while for his emotions to stabilize. Once calm, he pondered upon what Xuan Yue had said, clearly sensing the sadness within her heart; there must be some secret there. Despite Xuan Yue’s allure, he wasn’t attracted to her; he knew clearly that his heart was entirely occupied by Ah Bing. His staying behind was solely to help her. Despite Xuan Yue’s stunning beauty, Ah Dai couldn’t help feeling pity for her and resolved to help her given the opportunity.

Ah Dai walked out of his room. The corridor outside was utterly silent. He looked left and right, then approached the Yan brothers’ room, quietly knocking.

"Who is it?" Yan Shi’s deep and rich voice responded.

"Big brother, it’s me," Ah Dai whispered.

The door opened, Yan Shi, seeing Ah Dai in a sorry state, couldn’t help feeling surprised and let him in. Yan Li looked at Ah Dai somewhat oddly, then chuckled, "Brother, you really wash up fast! So, are you done this quick?"

Ah Dai, taken aback by his remark, replied, "Done what?"

Yan Shi glared at Yan Li, saying, "Don’t talk nonsense. Ah Dai, why did you keep that girl?" He knew well that Ah Dai wasn’t the type to covet beauty; there must have been a reason for keeping Xuan Yue, especially after the earlier psychic message, and he was keen to unravel the riddle from Ah Dai’s words.

Ah Dai sighed, "Big brother, I think that girl called Ah Bing is very mysterious and pitiful. She seems to have endured great trauma and appears to have many untold problems. I originally wanted to help her, but she didn’t appreciate it." He then recounted how Xuan Yue ambushed him at the casino, and all that followed.

Hearing this, Yan Li gave him a thumbs up, "Brother, you really did well, enduring all that; I salute you."

Yan Shi frowned and said, "Ah Dai, you mean to say, that girl’s power is not weak, and seems to be under the control of this place’s boss. This Dark Forces Night Club is indeed intriguing. The dealers in the casino too seemed quite skilled, especially that old man at the Noble Hall Roulette table later on; his Red Battle Aura was strong, not inferior to mine. It seems this place is indeed full of hidden experts!"

Ah Dai nodded, "Yes, big brother, I think we better avoid a direct conflict here. This place is swarmed by Dark Forces, and it’s their domain. A direct conflict will definitely result in trouble and affect our future plans for rescuing the Elves. Since we have amassed tens of millions of Gold Coins already, let’s purchase that Elf tonight if possible, and then leave this place. Rescuing the Elf would mean we have completed our mission here."

Yan Shi sighed, "Brother, you’re thinking too simply. Today, our acts in the casino were too conspicuous, and I doubt the boss here will let us off easily."

Yan Li scoffed, "So what if they don’t let us off? Could they eat us alive? If it comes to it, we just fight our way out."

Yan Shi spoke, "It’s not that easy. This is their turf. If they want to target us, they’ll surely have a meticulous plan. Even if our powers are strong, we might not be able to fight our way out. We can only take things one step at a time and adapt to changes. If those people get tough, we are no pushovers either. Ah Dai, there’s hardly any good person in this Dark Forces Night Club; you can’t be soft-hearted then, or we will definitely fall into a disadvantageous position. If needed, I hope you can summon the dragon for us to fight together. With that, even if the enemy is strong, we should be able to break through." After a pause, Yan Shi added, "Actually, I’m most worried, not about the covert forces here, but about the army of Dark City. No matter how strong our abilities are, we can’t match up to an army. Human strength is always limited."
