Synopsis:
Reborn into the High Martial Great Qin Dynasty, he became the posthumous son of the deposed king of the conquered Qi state.
Jiang Chen henceforth lived a life of hiding and dodging, ultimately residing with the remaining loyalists outside Xianyang City. However, these loyalists were restless, always plotting against Ying Zheng, leaving Jiang Chen unable to live in peace.
Fortunately, Jiang Chen acquired the Peace is a Blessing System, which granted him a year's worth of cultivation for each peaceful day, with additional rewards each month.
From then on, he embarked on the path of longevity and immortal cultivation.
"Today was uneventful; you have gained one year of cultivation."
"Today is the first day of the month, all is peaceful; you have gained the [Saint Gold Fairy Spell]!"
"Today, you successfully prevented your clansmen from assassinating Ying Zheng, avoiding involvement, and have obtained the 72 Polymorphic Transformations!"
...
In the High Martial Great Qin, where demons ran rampant and martial arts suppressed the world, I believed that in this world, I alone would become an immortal.
It wasn't until a thousand years later, when I became a Saint, that a Monk came up the mountain, inviting me on a journey to the West...
「Halfway up Li Mountain.」
Jiang Chen stood atop a large tree halfway up the mountain, perched among the leaves, swaying with the wind.
His gaze was fixed on a teahouse below.
Inside, some wandering martial artists were drinking tea to cool off.
Among these people, one was Jiang Chen's guard, Sun Yan.
At the moment, he was disguised as an old mountain dweller.
A sword lay by his side, and a bow was slung across his back.
He drank his tea and chatted with those next to him.
To his left was a middle-aged hunter with a sword beside him, plain and unremarkable—none other than Zuo Ming, the top disciple of the sword saint Gai Nie!
On his right was a man dressed as a farmer, with a bronze mace the thickness of an arm at his feet; he was Le Meng of Yan, a descendant of the famed general Le Yi.
Sun Yan cupped his hands and said, "Sun Yan of Qi, grandson of Sun Bin."
All being descendants of notable figures with mutual goals, they exchanged secret signals and raised their cups, toasting with tea in place of wine.
They then discussed the details of the ambush.
In the end, they confirmed Hu Hai's carriage would indeed pass this way, but they were unsure on which of the next three days.
Ultimately, they decided on a rough and straightforward plan: take turns guarding the teahouse for one day each.
If one of them encountered Hu Hai's carriage, they would immediately notify the others, then release the news to attract passersby, seize the opportunity to kill Hu Hai's guards, and capture Hu Hai.
After concluding their plan, they excitedly raised their teacups again, toasting in place of wine.
Sun Yan declared, "Gentlemen, if Qi is restored, you will all be meritorious officials. I will ensure that our Young Master grants you titles as Marquises of Ten Thousand Households!"
Zuo Ming and Le Meng promptly cupped their hands in thanks.
From halfway up the mountain, Jiang Chen, in the tree, listened to their discussion carried by the wind and just shook his head.
The plots of these brash fools are insufficient for success.
Suddenly, Jiang Chen looked into the distance, only to see dust billowing and yellow sand filling the sky.
The ground trembled.
Birds fled from the forests, and wild beasts ran rampant across the land.
Jiang Chen's expression changed slightly.
The Great Qin Dragon Cavalry?! What a magnificent sight. I hope they scare Sun Yan and the others off!
At that moment, the people in the teahouse were also startled.
The ground continued to tremble.
Sun Yan and the others were shocked, the same thought flashing through their minds.
Hu Hai... he's here!
As the tremors grew stronger, others in the teahouse began to realize what was happening. Exchanging glances, they rushed out to check and indeed saw a cloud of dust in the distance: a column of Great Qin Dragon Cavalry approaching rapidly.
Leading them was the black raven dragon flag of Great Qin, fluttering in the wind.
Sun Yan and the others turned pale with fright.
Le Meng, dressed as a farmer, was sweating profusely but clenched his teeth and said defiantly, "Good timing! This is a rare opportunity, one that comes once in a thousand years."
Zuo Ming, the hunter, also put on a brave face and nodded. "Exactly! Let us have a killing spree and see who captures Hu Hai first!"
Sun Yan raised his arm and cried out, "Brothers, the time has come to serve our Young Master! Don't forget our mission: 'to rebuild the state of Qi for our Young Master and protect his safety'!"
A dozen Qi natives cheered in response, their morale sky-high.
Le Meng and Zuo Ming also spoke a few encouraging words.
On the mountainside, Jiang Chen watched this scene with resignation.
Not even the Great Qin Dragon Cavalry could scare them off. They're practically rushing to give away their heads.
Jiang Chen sighed helplessly, having already made a decision.
Perhaps it's time for me to make a move. Only by letting these people realize the might of Great Qin will they pull back from the brink and retreat in the face of difficulty.
After all, he had noticed that although this contingent of Great Qin Dragon Cavalry was powerful, none posed a threat to him.
And with his Unfettered Divine Travel technique, allowing him to appear and disappear without a trace, he wasn't afraid of being surrounded and hunted down!
BOOM!
The ground quaked.
The Great Qin Dragon Cavalry was upon them in an instant.
They were the black-armored Dragon Cavalry, and Hu Hai's chariot was guarded in the middle.
Before the people in the teahouse could react, the Dragon Cavalry charged straight in, raising their whips to drive them aside.
CRACK! CRACK!
The Dragon Cavalry's whips lashed down, leaving numerous wandering martial artists with skin split and flesh burst open.
"Attack!"
With Le Meng's roar, the wandering martial artists also snapped to attention and hurriedly drew their swords to attack the Dragon Cavalry.
Suddenly, they felled several black-armored Dragon Cavalrymen.
But the black-armored Dragon Cavalry's armor was thick and strong; the ordinary wandering martial artists' swords could hardly penetrate it, leaving the riders astonishingly unscathed.
"How dare you!"
"Kill!"
A cry for slaughter came from inside the chariot. The Great Qin Dragon Cavalry ruthlessly raised their blades, and the majority of the wandering martial artists were cut down in an instant.
The dismounted black-armored Dragon Cavalry also started hacking down opponents as if they were butchering vegetables.
With just one exchange, the Great Qin Dragon Cavalry held an absolute advantage.
Dozens of wandering martial artists were cut down as easily as vegetables.
From behind the teahouse, another hundred or so wandering martial artists charged out, but they too broke ranks as soon as they came into contact with the Dragon Cavalry.
Sun Yan, Zuo Ming, and Le Meng were all First-class experts, ruthless killers, and although they each had the strength to face a thousand men alone, they still couldn't withstand the Great Qin Dragon Cavalry.
The Great Qin Dragon Cavalry—every one of them skilled enough to take on a hundred foes!
Yet, they were unwilling to retreat.
Because Hu Hai's chariot was right before their eyes.
It was at that moment, a thunderous shout fell from the sky, like a clap of thunder.
"Hmph!"
"Who dares disturb my dream?!"
The voice, like a thunderclap, exploded instantly on the battlefield.
The Great Qin Dragon Cavalry and the wandering martial artists all stopped in their tracks, covering their ears.
They looked up in shock and awe to see a person standing on a large tree halfway up the mountain, clad in black clothes and a black hat, their face indiscernible.
Standing on the tree, yet seeming like the sole presence between heaven and earth, instilling a sense of power that crushed any thought of resistance.
While everyone was still stunned and uncertain about this person's identity, they saw him walking down from the tree a hundred zhang away on the mountainside, stepping on air as if walking on flat ground.
HISSS!
Such terrifying power!
The black-armored Dragon Cavalry and the wandering martial artists all felt their scalps tingle, their eyes filled with shock and overwhelming fear.
Who exactly was this person?
Could he possibly be one of the Nine Heaven Deity?!
To be able to walk in the air as if on solid ground?!
Sun Yan, Zuo Ming the hunter, and Le Meng the farmer—the three First-class experts—looked at each other, their hearts filled with dread. Could this person be an immortal?!
Jiang Chen strolled down and had already arrived in the middle of the battlefield, his back to the Great Qin Dragon Cavalry, facing Sun Yan and the others.
He had to step in; otherwise, these impetuous youths would be wiped out!
Jiang Chen said indifferently, "Scram!"
Sun Yan and the others felt as if they had been struck by lightning, utterly shocked.
THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!
Sun Yan, in particular, staggered back several steps, his face pale, looking as if he'd seen a ghost.
This person was actually their enemy?!
At that moment, there was only one thought in their minds: run!
Run!
Sun Yan and the others turned and fled.
They felt no shame, only relief, as if they had escaped death's grasp!
And they had no time to think about why this person had spared their lives.
Jiang Chen stood still, watching Sun Yan and the others run off into the distance before turning to glance at the Great Qin black-armored Dragon Cavalry.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The entire Great Qin Dragon Cavalry, three thousand strong, simultaneously stepped back two paces, their eyes filled with shock and horror.
Jiang Chen smirked contemptuously, then with a monumental leap, he vanished into the distant woods with ghostly swiftness.
