Chapter 85: Gambling Stones
Tang Yin and Chi Hu did not talk while standing in one spot, they were actively moving around the bustling streets and would occasionally take left or right turns.
"What are the rules of Treasure Bank City?" Tang Yin raised a very important question. "There are many rules that all cultivators must abide by, including the Elders of both the Lei and Xia families. The rules were made by both the Lei and Xia family collaboratively, they apply on both sides of the city."
"There are many rules, the most important one is that a cultivator is not allowed to kill in Treasure Bank City. All personal grudges cannot be conducted in the city."
"The second most important rule is that a cultivator cannot renege out of a deal, Treasure Bank City is mostly known for having treasures and gambling. If a cultivator breaks a deal or does not pay up, they will be killed by the Lei or Xia family members for breaking this rule and be made an example of. Treasure Bank City places vital importance on deals and transactions."
"Cultivators cannot pressure weaker cultivators into transactions. Business must be conducted mutually between both parties. Also, it is taboo to ask about the origins of an item, most cultivators will be offended."
"There are also many other rules, but these are the 3 main rules most cultivators must abide by."
Chi Hu slowly and carefully explained the rest of the rules of Treasure Bank City to Tang Yin. Tang Yin was surprised by the meticulous thinking of the Lei and Xia family. Most of the rules in place were to protect weaker cultivators from being bullied by stronger cultivators.
This was only natural, Treasure Bank City only cared about 3 things: Treasures, Transactions and Business. It did not matter whether a cultivator was weak or strong as long as they had Spirit Stones.
The same thing could not be said outside of Treasure Bank City. Cultivators would need a sufficient amount of strength to be able to protect their treasures. Otherwise, the treasures they possessed would just bring disaster to themselves.
It was like the old saying: ’Wealth makes an innocent man guilty.’
As Tang Yin walked around on many streets alongside Chi Hu, he noticed many stall owners and even people sitting on the floor with their items on the floor. Most of those items were... stones.
This had piqued and puzzled Tang Yin, "Why are so many people selling stones?" he could not help but blurt it out. When Chi Hu heard this, a strange look appeared on his face.
"This... Does Senior not know about Gambling Stones?" Chi Hu asked in a low voice. "Gambling Stones? What are those?" Tang Yin replied with bewilderment.
"Gambling Stones are fossilized stones and rocks that have a low chance of containing treasures. Most people who sell Gambling Stones on the streets are frauds who want to bait people with fake Gambling Stones. The real Gambling Stones are sold in the stores of large families." Chi Hu explained, the strange expression remained on his face.
"Most Gambling Stones are just ordinary stones and rocks which contain nothing, but the odd few that contain treasures can make anyone a fortune instantly. Therefore, although most cultivators know that a Gambling Stone will not contain anything, the hope of instantly obtaining a fortune exists."
"How can anyone tell whether a Gambling Stone contains anything within it?" Tang Yin asked with doubt, if cultivators knew nothing was contained within the Gambling Stones, then there was no point wasting the wealth they possessed on such a pointless thing.
"Most cultivators will usually look at the veins of the Gambling Stones, and any Gambling Stone which has circular veins is considered to have a high chance of containing a treasure within it. The more circular veins a Gambling Stone has, the more the chance of that Gambling Stone housing a treasure. These types of Gambling Stones will be opened by whoever possesses them or be sold for an astronomical price."
"Some cultivators with ocular Martial Skills can see if there is any Qi leaking out of a Gambling Stone, such Gambling Stones have an even higher chance of containing a treasure within compared to Gambling Stones with circular veins."

A glint appeared in Tang Yin’s eyes, he possessed the Heaven Piercing Gaze. ’Looks like things have gotten much more interesting.’ Tang Yin coldly chuckled within his heart, but he did not show any of it.
"Where do Gambling Stones come from?" Tang Yin suddenly asked.
"The origin of Gambling Stones has been a mystery for a long time for normal cultivators, only very strong cultivators will know something about the origins of Gambling Stones."

Chi Hu shook his head and shrugged his shoulders expressing he did not know, he slowly explained the rumours that had been circulating among the lower rank cultivators like him to Tang Yin.
