Chapter 42: Bloodline Suppression
From the books Tang Yin had read, he knew the Jade Serpent was a highly poisonous creature. However, its main ability laid in defence. When in danger, the Jade Serpent could activate its defensive ability, Jade Skin. The Jade Skin ability would coat the Jade Serpent in a layer of Jade Skin, its defence would skyrocket, and it would be extremely difficult to break through the Jade Skin to kill the Jade Serpent.
Tang Yin crouched on a tree branch, and on his shoulder was Xiao Fei. Xiao Fei looked at the Jade Serpent on the distant tree with disdain. Tang Yin saw this and sent a thought to Xiao Fei, the chick flapped its tiny wings and rushed towards the Jade Serpent.
Tang Yin was stunned when he saw Xiao Fei’s disdainful expression, he had mockingly told her to go kill the Jade Serpent through his connection with her as a joke. He had not expected Xiao Fei to take it so seriously, he had thought she would shrink back in fear.
Tang Yin rushed after Xiao Fei, but he was too late. She was already 10 feet away from the Jade Serpent. As soon as the Jade Serpent noticed Xiao Fei, it trembled in fear and submission. Xiao Fei did not even spare a glance towards the serpent before spitting out a ball of black flames towards it.
The Jade Serpent did not resist, it willingly let the ball of black flames engulf it. Once the black flames made contact with the Jade Serpent, the serpent was reduced to ashes instantly. Maybe it could last a breath or two longer if it had activated its Jade Skin ability, but that was it. A High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beast had been reduced to ashes just like that.
Xiao Fei pridefully circled back and landed on the dumbstruck Tang Yin’s shoulder. "Why didn’t you tell me you were so powerful?" Tang Yin snapped out of his shocked stupor after a long while and questioned Xiao Fei while glaring at it.
Xiao Fei sent a thought to Tang Yin while shrugging. "What do you mean I didn’t ask; do I have to ask you about this sort of thing?" Tang Yin continued glaring at the chick while repeatedly questioning it.
Xiao Fei displayed an expression as if it had been wronged. Tang Yin did not continue pressuring it, "Why didn’t the Jade Serpent resist when you attacked it?" Tang Yin asked Xiao Fei in curiosity.
Xiao Fei sent a thought to Tang Yin through their connection. "Bloodline Suppression?" Tang Yin had read about this in the Spirit Beast Manual.
Bloodline Suppression was when a Demonic Beast suppressed another Demonic Beast or creature with its bloodline. This was an invisible form of suppression, it mainly depended on whoever was the superior life form with a purer and more noble bloodline.
The more pure and noble a Demonic Beasts bloodline was, the more potent the effect the bloodline suppression would have on the other Demonic Beast it was used against.
Some Demonic Beasts with very noble and pure blood could suppress and control a Demonic Beast with an impure bloodline to give up their lives and sacrifice themselves for the Demonic Beast with a purer and noble bloodline. This was clearly the case for the Jade Serpent.
However, if the gap between the strengths of the 2 Demonic Beasts was colossal, the bloodline suppression would have minimal effect. In fact, it could even backfire, the other Demonic Beast may become greedy and devour the Demonic Beast with a pure bloodline to make its own bloodline purer and increase its own potential.
"Which bloodline do you possess? And how pure is your bloodline?" Tang Yin asked Xiao Fei in shock. Xiao Fei shrugged, indicating she did not know. Tang Yin remained in deep thought for a while before a cold grin appeared on his lips. Xiao Fei felt foreboding after feeling the cold presence emitted by Tang Yin.
"Alright, Xiao Fei we’re going to be meeting a lot of High-tier Rank 1 Demonic Beasts, use your bloodline suppression on them, but don’t kill them." Tang Yin said to Xiao Fei which allowed no refusal. Xiao Fei did not dare to ignore or refute Tang Yin after seeing him mercilessly killing so many Demonic Beasts in cold blood without any qualms.
Tang Yin brought out the map of the Demonic Beast Mountain, listed on the map were many areas ruled by High-tier Demonic Beasts in the Middle Ring. Tang Yin looked at the closest High-tier Demonic Beast and left in its direction with Xiao Fei.
Before long, Tang Yin arrived at the cave of a Frenzy Bear. Tang Yin knew the bear had a berserker ability called Frenzy, it would use this ability when it was in danger to increase its strength by a large margin. The aftereffects were severe, but the strength increase during a battle was crucial.
Tang Yin did not enter the cave, he stood before the cave and let out a loud challenging roar towards the entrance. An even louder roar filled with madness resounded from the cave a few seconds later. A large bear with crimson red eyes walked out of the cave, its size was huge, and its mouth was salivating.
Tang Yin looked towards Xiao Fei, the chick flapped its wings and flew into the air towards the Frenzy Bear and let out a screech. The Frenzy Bear trembled, it lowered its body and head in reverent submission. Tang Yin did not delay, he rushed towards the Frenzy Bear with the Abyssal Sword in hand. He decapitated the bear with a single movement, the bear did not try to resist.
Tang Yin activated the Heaven Devouring Abyss and swiftly devoured the Frenzy Bear’s corpse and beast soul. Xiao Fei looked at the Heaven Devouring Abyss with fear in its eyes, even though it did not know why it felt so terrified of the Heaven Devouring Abyss.
