Chapter 325: Descending (1)

From what he had seen inside the jade token given to him by Qian Zhong, the Hectic Chasm Holy Land was split into 4 layers of depth. They were the Surface Layer, the Subterranean Layer, the Depth Layer and the Abyss Layer.

The Surface Layer was the area right at the top of the Hectic Chasm Holy Land. As soon as one entered the large chasm, they would enter the Surface Layer.

Likewise, the amount of Space Principles contained inside the Surface Layer was lacklustre compared to the other Layers.

Of course, compared to the quantity of Space Principles outside the Hectic Chasm Holy Land, the quantity of Space Principles within the Surface Layer was colossal.

The Hectic Chasm Holy Land was called a Holy Land for a reason. Even the outermost Layer of the Holy Land contained an unreal amount of Space Principles within its boundaries.

After the Surface Layer was the Subterranean Layer. Contrasting to its name, the Subterranean Layer was not actually underground. It was simply categorised as such to show the cultivators that the Subterranean Layer was deeper than the Surface Layer.

The amount of Space Principles contained inside the Subterranean Layer was double compared to the quantity in the Surface Layer.

Of course, one had to have a sufficiently powerful enough body or protection against the Space Principles. The Space Principles in the Hectic Chasm Holy Land were chaotic and disorderly. They would continuously emit a concentrated pressure on everything, hence the name ’Hectic’ Chasm Holy Land.

Naturally, this was not a concern for Tang Yin with his Heaven Devouring Abyss Physique which was currently equivalent to the Mid-stage of the Principle Manipulation Realm. However, he would only be able to resist the pressure of the Space Principles up to and including the Depth Layer. After that, even his powerful body wouldn’t be able to bear the pressure of the Space Principles for long.

The Depth Layer was even deeper than the Subterranean Layer. The quantity of Space Principles in the Depth Layer was double the amount in the Subterranean Layer and quadruple the quantity in the Surface Layer.

Usually, only cultivators who were above the Early-stage of the Principle Manipulation Realm would be able to cultivate at the Depth Layer as long as they possessed some method to resist the pressure of the Space Principles.

As for the Abyss Layer, most cultivators would never even attempt to reach such a depth.

Not only were the Space Principles at the Abyss Layer extremely violent and chaotic, but only Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators could even somewhat resist the pressure in that place.

Even then, they couldn’t stay in the Abyss Layer for prolonged periods of time. The pressure and disorder of the Space Principles were too harsh to bear endlessly.

As such, whilst one was comprehending the Principle of Space at the Abyss Layer, they would continuously be interrupted once in a while. They would then have no choice but to leave the Abyss Layer and recover before being able to return and resume their cultivation.

Not to mention, Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators had almost already completely comprehended their primary Principle. To them, it wasn’t really worth entering the Abyss Layer for deeper enlightenment.

They would constantly be interrupted by the chaotic Space Principles surrounding them, they would also need to withstand the pressure, and finally, they would not obtain much comprehension with these distractions. It simply wasn’t worth it.

Peak-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators almost couldn’t be found within Holy Lands. They had already comprehended their primary Principle and could control it perfectly. They would be too occupied with the challenge of forming a Law Domain.

Peak-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators would only venture into Holy Lands with the purpose of comprehending their secondary Principle and attaining a substantial level of mastery over it.

Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators wouldn’t have perfect control or comprehension over their primary Principle. As a result, a lot of them would still require the assistance of a Holy Land.

In the Hectic Chasm Holy Land specifically, Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators could usually be found at the Depth Layer.

Most cultivators did not cultivate the Principle of Space as their primary Principle. If one decided to cultivate the Principle of Space, it would either be as a secondary or tertiary Principle.

After taking a deep breath, Tang Yin jumped into the chasm, officially entering the Hectic Chasm Holy Land.

Immediately, he felt the violent Space Principles around him emit an intense pressure onto his body. However, the pressure of the Surface Layer was negligible for his body, Tang Yin merely ignored it.

As he controlled his descent and lowered down into the Hectic Chasm Holy Land, Tang Yin spread out his divine sense. Surprisingly, even his divine sense was suppressed.

From its normal range of 1,300 kilometres, the dense Space Principles in the surroundings exerted pressure on his divine sense and compressed it into a smaller radius of 1,000 kilometres.

Since he was still on the Surface Layer, Tang Yin’s divine sense was not restricted by a large amount, only by around 20%.

A few minutes later, Tang Yin had already descended a couple of kilometres. All he could see was darkness. Even with his divine sense, he could only sense the chaotic Space Principles and the walls of each side of the chasm.

Suddenly, he whipped his head around, he saw a person. It was a middle-aged man with dark blue hair. He radiated Early-stage Principle Comprehension Realm cultivation.

He merely sat afloat in the middle of the darkness in a lotus position. He seemed to be in deep thought and completely unconcerned about his surroundings.

The reason for this middle-aged cultivator being so carefree and relaxed was due to a specific rule applying to anyone inside a Holy Land.

This rule stated that all cultivators entering a Holy Land were doing so to cultivate. Nobody was allowed to attack another cultivator even if they harboured deep enmity for each other.

Of course, this rule didn’t apply to Holy Lands that centred around slaughter and battle to function.

If this rule was broken, then the Rank 8 Organization in charge of the Holy Land where the rule was broken would interfere and meticulously hunt down the transgressor.

The Rank 8 Organizations overseeing the Holy Lands where the rule was violated ruthlessly executed numerous Peak-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators and a significant number of Late-stage Principle Manipulation Realm cultivators in the past to set an example. These executions served as a warning and deterred even the most courageous cultivators from daring to defy the rule.

Tang Yin could easily tell that the middle-aged man was from a wealthy organization. Not only were his robes extremely expensive, but usually, most of the cultivators inside a Holy Land would be from large backgrounds.

After all, normal cultivators who were not from a large background would need to work hard and accumulate enough merits and contributions for their respective organizations to even have a chance of entering a Holy Land.

Tang Yin simply ignored the middle-aged man and continued his descent. Within another few minutes, he sensed multiple cultivators with his divine sense.

Most of them were either at the Early or Mid stages of the Principle Comprehension Realm. They all sat within the darkness of the Hectic Chasm Holy Land in the lotus position. None of them paid any attention to their surroundings.

Like his previous encounter with the middle-aged man, Tang Yin ignored these cultivators.

By now, he had already descended for around 100 kilometres.

From what he had learnt from the jade token given to him by Qian Zhong, the Surface Layer came to an end at the 100-kilometre depth mark. The 101st kilometre would be the starting point of the Subterranean Layer.

As soon as his descent reached the 101st kilometre, Tang Yin immediately sensed the Space Principles in the vicinity become twice as dense as before.

The pressure emitted on his body was also twice as large, but it was not powerful enough to threaten him. At most, the pressure could only annoy him slightly.

His divine sense’s range had also decreased to 800 kilometres due to the suppression of the denser Space Principles in the area.

Other than this, Tang Yin noticed a few cultivators at the Late and Peak stages of the Principle Comprehension Realm cultivating in the darkness, focused on their comprehension and mastery over the Principle of Space.

Tang Yin spotted almost no difference between these cultivators and those in the Surface Layer, except for their appearances and cultivation. Most of them remained oblivious to their surroundings and continued to cultivate in peace.

With a shake of his head, Tang Yin continued his descent. It almost seemed as if the Hectic Chasm Holy Land did not have an ending. Tang Yin almost felt as if he could continue descending for an eternity.

He noticed that the more he descended, the more the pressure and density of the Space Principles increased. However, it was not by much, the levels and quantity of Space Principles remained within the boundary of the Subterranean Layer.

After descending for 300 kilometres, Tang Yin came to a halt. He gazed towards a certain direction in the endless darkness surrounding him.
