Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Patient Mu Qiu

Han Tian made website guides.

So he definitely wanted this document on Liu Xian City.

It was a hand-drawn version, and some parts were crudely sketched.

A note on it read, "The full view can’t be seen from the sky; contains a Teleportation Array."

But you could still make out the general appearance of Liu Xian City.

And its size...

Han Tian couldn’t help but exclaim, "As expected of a Major Sect City. It’s not much different from a modern city in our world."

The only difference was that the people of Yunzhou would live more densely.

They basically all lived in one place, Liu Xian City. There wouldn’t be anyone outside the city walls.

The threat from demon beasts was too great.

Although they couldn’t go to Liu Xian City right now, just looking at its size made him realize this was only the tip of the iceberg for the Yunzhou Continent, and Liu Xian City was just one of the sects under the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect.

"The Sect Master must have gone to attend the Immortal Sacrifice Ceremony."

Han Tian could guess where their Sect Master was. Otherwise, this map wouldn’t have shown up.

Zhou Xiao also took the document and glanced at it. "Are you going to log off and upload this to the website?"

Han Tian replied, "It’s no trouble. I’ll just use an AI simulation."

Jiang Ya glanced at it as well, then remarked, "There are a lot of sects."

Liu Xian City contained quite a few branches from other sects, such as the Xue Cang Sect’s Star-picking Tower and the Nine Pills Sect’s Ten Thousand Medicine Pavilion.

The Nine Pills Sect was the second-largest medicine-focused sect on the Yunzhou Continent.

Other sects, like the Blood Prison Sect and the Extreme Saint Sect, all had their own branches in Liu Xian City.

The sects could coexist peacefully. Since each sect specialized in different things and had its own unique offerings, they always had something the others needed to buy.

Opening branches was perfectly normal.

Zhou Xiao sucked in a breath of cold air. "At this rate, how many sects must there be on the Yunzhou Continent? We’re still just in Wang’an County. We can’t even get close to these sects."

Han Tian’s stream chat also saw the document and immediately lit up with comments.

[No way. If this map is just one Sect City, then how big is this game’s world?]

[A model this big would definitely crash the servers.]

[Huh? It’s a full-dive virtual world, and you guys are still worried about memory issues?!]

[Holy crap, a Sect City this huge belongs to a subordinate sect? What does our Longevity Sect have to compete with that! Our future looks grim...]

[Uh... aren’t we all just here to watch a TV series? Why are people getting so emotionally invested in the game?]

[I’m not so skeptical about whether this game is real anymore. I have a relative who’s a player, and he’s gone crazy. He stays home all day logging into the game with his VR headset, doesn’t even want to go to work. He says the game is real, and if it’s fake, he’ll quit smoking. How serious is that vow? His girlfriend tried to get him to quit, and he wouldn’t. He chose cigarettes over her.]

Han Tian’s stream chat was always lively, but he wasn’t in a hurry to log off. It wasn’t time yet.

Every extra moment spent killing demon beasts was a moment gained.

Mu Qiu crouched on a tree branch, chewing on some beef jerky she’d brought, and stared at a mostly motionless Demon Horned Snake ahead.

The Demon Horned Snake had probably sensed Mu Qiu’s presence but couldn’t find her.

It slithered back and forth, twisting its enormous body in agitation.

It let out a "HISS HISS HISS."

She had smeared the juice of a Second-stage Spiritual Grass, the Qilin Flower, on herself.

This flower was quite rare. For a period of time, it could confuse a demon beast’s senses, making it unable to locate a Cultivator.

It was scarce and had a low survival rate. It only worked on demon beasts, and its effectiveness decreased against high-level ones.

It was said that only the Medicine Sect cultivated it specifically.

She had found two stalks in the wild. They wouldn’t have fetched many Spirit Stones, but they had allowed her to set her sights on a big prize.

The Snake Gallbladder of a Demon Horned Snake was very valuable.

Her current wealth wasn’t enough to support hunting beasts as extravagantly as the Sect Master, but she had a way to wear this Demon Horned Snake down to its death.

The Demon Horned Snake slithered over, HISSING, as drool constantly streamed from its mouth.

Where it landed, disgusting little snakes wriggled out of the pus-like fluid, a sight that would make anyone’s skin crawl.

But Mu Qiu watched with a blank expression.

For a woman who grew up immersed in foreign zombie blockbusters and all kinds of disgusting horror movies...

...even seeing the real-life version didn’t move her at all.

In fact, the beef jerky in her mouth seemed to taste even better.

When the Demon Horned Snake got within a certain distance, Mu Qiu flung a Fireball at it with a flick of her hand, then her figure quickly flew to another distant tree to hide.

The Fireball hit the Demon Horned Snake dead-on, and it immediately let out an enraged roar.

Its body was massive, easily knocking into the surrounding trees, but when it raised its head, it didn’t spot Mu Qiu’s shadow right away.

The confounding scent confused its senses. Unable to find the person’s location, the Demon Horned Snake grew even angrier.

It roared continuously as the pus it secreted increased, and the dense swarms of tiny snakes crawled up the surrounding trees. The scene was enough to give anyone nightmares.

Mu Qiu saw the little snakes crawling in her direction, narrowed her eyes, and launched another large Fireball.

Then she leaped away again.

"HISSSSSSS~!!"

The enraged Demon Horned Snake couldn’t find Mu Qiu’s position right away. Its pursuit was chaotic, its massive body crashing through the forest. As the trees shook, Mu Qiu felt as if the very ground was trembling.

After a few rounds of this, the Demon Horned Snake had wasted a great deal of its stamina.

Its pus was also gradually depleting.

Mu Qiu calculated that the effects of her first Spirit Grass were about to run out, so she crushed the other one and smeared its juice on herself.

Trading two stalks of grass for a Snake Gallbladder worth fifty low-grade spirit stones was a very good deal.

It wasn’t without its dangers, however.

On the fourth pass, her luck ran out and she was spotted.

The Demon Horned Snake immediately lunged at her.

The speed of a Second-tier Demon Beast was not slow to begin with, and it nearly caught up to her.

Its massive mouth gaped open, the putrid stench closing in.

’Seeing it is one thing,’ she thought, ’but smelling it is still pretty disgusting.’

She had to weave between several trees before the confusing scent on her body managed to trick the Demon Horned Snake again.

Upon losing her trail, its aura became even more frantic.

But Mu Qiu remained patient.

And so, by maintaining this relentless rhythm, combined with the combat skills Mu Qiu had honed over this period...

...the Demon Horned Snake was finally on its last breath.

Just as Mu Qiu was about to deliver the final blow, an intensely blinding light suddenly appeared before her.

The light was so bright she instinctively squeezed her eyes shut.

Realizing something was wrong, she forced her eyes open and saw a person tumble out of the ball of light.

Meanwhile, the Demon Horned Snake was making its last stand. When it saw the falling figure, the pustule on its forehead began to tremble, on the verge of exploding.

But just then, a longsword, shimmering like jade and falling snow, easily pierced through the Demon Horned Snake’s body.

The Demon Horned Snake let out a mournful cry, unable to even make a final struggle.

Its body collapsed with a crash.

And from beneath the ball of light came the sound of a woman’s extremely heavy cough.
