Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Can’t Hear in Reality?
Han Tian was a bit surprised.
It was nothing new for him to get reported.
He was generating way too much traffic; the "one million" gimmick alone had shot him to the top of Weibo’s trending list.
It went without saying that his peers were jealous, but even people outside his field were green with envy.
Now, his livestreams consistently pulled in a hundred thousand viewers, and in the blink of an eye, he’d transformed from a well-known expert in game reviews into a full-blown celebrity streamer.
Who wouldn’t be jealous of that?
Besides, his stream content was so over-the-top that getting reported would have been normal even without the whole Steamed Fatty Chong incident.
But Han Tian had never imagined that the stream actually couldn’t be shut down.
He knew the System’s technology was likely far more advanced than the streaming platform’s, but this level of aggressive power was still shocking.
Here in the real world, he couldn’t just come out and ask if the System was responsible.
With that in mind, he kept his expression neutral. "I don’t know what’s causing it. I’ve got no problem with it on my end. How do you want to check?"
Manager Cheng sighed. "Look, we’re friends, so I don’t mean anything by this, but can you just log into the game and let me see how you’re connecting to the stream? I’ll take a look at your computer. You don’t have anything... you shouldn’t... on there, do you?"
Han Tian rolled his eyes. "Pfft. As if I’d let you see it if I actually had anything."
The atmosphere lightened a little. Manager Cheng chuckled and urged him to log on, his curiosity getting the better of him. "So is that game for real? A full-dive game... Not many people actually believe it’s possible right now, but the stuff on your stream is just unbelievable."
Han Tian put on a serious expression. "I wouldn’t tell just anyone this, but we’ve known each other for a long time, so I’ll let you in on it. It’s 100% real. I’ll log on in a minute, and you can see for yourself on the stream. Next time they’re recruiting new players, listen to me: use the best rig you can get your hands on to fight for a spot. It’s worth it. You’ll regret it for the rest of your life if you don’t play."
Manager Cheng was astonished. "Is it really that amazing?"
Han Tian nodded. "I’m logging in now. See if you can spot any issues with the stream."
The setup for logging into the game was surprisingly simple.
To prevent any mishaps while he was playing, he had even bought a massage chair.
It kept his limbs from getting stiff even after lying down for extended periods.
Playing a game for that long without moving should be bad for you, but despite several sessions—his longest lasting over ten hours—he’d logged off without any physical issues.
Of course, just to be sure, he had also scheduled a physical for this month to check if his health had deteriorated.
After all, even if you feel fine, you still worry about what high-intensity gaming might really be doing to your body.
Han Tian lay back in the massage chair, put on his VR glasses, and started up the game from his computer. He cracked a joke, "Don’t go rummaging through my place while I’m in the game."
"Get outta here!"
Manager Cheng watched Han Tian log into the game.
Han Tian’s computer was right beside him.
Manager Cheng watched the computer screen, but nothing out of the ordinary happened.
The streaming platform’s website didn’t even pop up.
But when he pulled out his phone and opened Han Tian’s stream, he saw that as soon as Han Tian entered the game, the broadcast had begun.
The face in the game was completely different from Han Tian’s, which was why Manager Cheng hadn’t felt any connection to the streamer when he first watched.
Only now, Han Tian’s in-game avatar waved at the camera. "Manager Cheng, can you see this?"
It was a real-time interaction, just like someone waving hello through a video call.
There was no way a normal special effects team could react that quickly.
Manager Cheng was already somewhat stunned.
He glanced at the motionless Han Tian in the massage chair.
He called out tentatively, "Han Tian?"
’He’s only wearing VR glasses, no headphones. He should be able to hear me, right?’
Just then, the stream stuttered and stopped again.
Han Tian took off his VR glasses. "Did you call me?"
Manager Cheng let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, so you could hear me. This is incredible. Were you really inside the game just now?"
"Yeah..."
Han Tian hesitated.
’Actually, there was a problem.’
’He hadn’t actually heard Manager Cheng call him.’
’The System had notified him.’
’When he played the game, he was so immersed in another world that he couldn’t hear anything from reality at all.’
’But the System provided instant feedback.’
’But that was the limit of the System’s power.’
’After all, it didn’t have enough energy right now. Their souls were literally being pulled into another world.’
’The System wasn’t yet capable of letting them be immersed in two worlds simultaneously.’
But Han Tian didn’t say any of this, so Manager Cheng had no idea what was really going on.
Looking at this game now, he was truly in shock.
"Holy shit, I can’t believe I’m seeing a real full-dive game in my lifetime."
Manager Cheng slapped his forehead. He couldn’t believe that Blue Star actually possessed technology this powerful. A full-dive game had really been created.
Han Tian immediately asked, "So, is there a problem with my stream?"
"In principle, no." Manager Cheng frowned. "Your stream starts automatically the second you log in and ends the second you log out. Could it be connecting to a main server that isn’t ours?"
Han Tian was speechless. "But you guys are the streaming platform, aren’t you?"
"..."
’Right, that’s the key.’
’A stream on their own platform, and they couldn’t shut down the channel.’
Manager Cheng thought for a moment. "You can control the stream yourself, right?"
Han Tian nodded. "Yes."
Manager Cheng said, "In that case, can you pause your streams for the next couple of days? Of course, once the investigation is over, we’ll let you start streaming again. As compensation, we’ll feature you on the site’s homepage."
After all, with all the donations his stream was bringing in, the profit for the platform was huge. As long as there were no major issues, there was no way they wouldn’t let Han Tian keep streaming.
"Alright."
Han Tian was willing to agree to that kind of trade-off.
Seeing him agree so readily, Manager Cheng left, relieved.
Once Manager Cheng was gone, Han Tian closed the door, a thoughtful expression on his face.
He’d been so engrossed in the game before, and since he lived alone, he had never even considered the fact that he couldn’t perceive things from the outside world while playing.
He wasn’t even wearing headphones; logically, he should have been able to hear any noises in his apartment.
Realizing this, Han Tian decided not to ask the System about it.
’Sometimes, ignorance is bliss.’
When he logged back into the game, he was met with the sight of Zhou Xiao rolling her eyes dramatically. "Are you done yet?"
Han Tian logging off repeatedly was disrupting their rhythm for fighting demon beasts.
Zhou Xiao asked, "Was it about that bitch spreading rumors and stirring up trouble for you?"
Han Tian replied, "It’s a good thing my stream isn’t on. If your fans heard you talk like that, their illusions would be shattered."
Zhou Xiao pursed her lips. "I wouldn’t care even if it was on. This face isn’t my real face, anyway."
It wasn’t her real face and this wasn’t the real world; what the hell did she have to be afraid of?
Han Tian said, "It’s more or less handled. I’m pausing my streams for two days."
After he said that, Jiang Tianya and the others in the party looked over at him. "Is it that serious?"
Han Tian shook his head. "It’s not serious. It’s mainly some other issues. The platform asked me to shut it down for two days, but they’re going to feature me on the homepage later to make up for it. I’m not losing out."
Hearing him say that, everyone relaxed.
Then Zhou Xiao brought up something else. "I just asked the System, and it turns out we aren’t in first place for points in this donation event. And the System said the gap between us and them isn’t small, either."
