Chapter 21: Chapter 21: The Opening of Yunzhou World, Website Established
In the end, A Wu bought the two extra Spirit Grass stalks anyway.
’He was the Eldest Martial Brother, after all. The junior martial brothers and sisters had only just joined. How could he not spoil them a little?’
After A Wu finished buying the Spirit Grass Seedlings the Sect needed, he took Zhou Xiao and the other two to look around.
The group had good memories and managed to memorize some of the key terrain features.
Wang’an County wasn’t large. A single street ran from one end to the other, lined with mortal residences interspersed with a few shops selling Cultivator Magic Treasures.
It was a shame they could only afford to look. A single item from inside one of those shops could bankrupt the current Longevity Sect—in fact, they were so broke they didn’t even have enough assets *to* go bankrupt.
They were already bankrupt!
The three of them had a pretty good idea of the situation.
By the time they returned to the Sect, many of the players had already logged off, leaving only a dozen or so online.
It was easy to understand why they’d logged off—people have to go to work, you know!
Han Tian noticed that one person still hadn’t logged on.
It was the female player Mu Qiu, whose talent was second only to Chen Miaomiao and Jiang Ya.
He asked Zhou Xiao about it.
Zhou Xiao was also a little puzzled. "I don’t know her. She pre-registered through a different gaming group and has always been pretty quiet, never chatting much. Maybe she got held up by something."
’Since she was willing to join their group, she definitely wanted to play the game.’
Han Tian didn’t press the matter.
Right now, it was time to apply the fertile soil.
Newly reclaimed Spirit Fields weren’t tilled in the traditional way. Instead, they were treated with fertile soil.
A liquid fertilizer was applied first, transforming the Spirit Field into the ideal environment for Spirit Grass Seedlings.
Only then could the planting of the Spirit Grass Seedlings begin.
A single plot of land could only support a few dozen stalks, which was an incredibly small number. However, this was because the root systems of Spirit Grass took up a large area. The better a seedling’s root system developed, the higher the probability of it producing High-level Spirit Grass.
After planting, any problems with the Spirit Grass Seedlings could only be observed using Spiritual Energy, but for the most part, they didn’t require much management.
Sometimes, if a seedling looked a bit withered, you could try moving it to a different spot.
Whether it survived or not seemed to be a matter of Heavenly Destiny.
Furthermore, the growth cycle was very short; a batch could be cultivated in just one month.
When the three of them arrived, Chen Miaomiao had already finished observing the Spirit Field planted by A Wu. Zhou Xiao hurried over to ask her, "So, what’s the verdict, pro?"
Chen Miaomiao shook her head. "It’s hard to spot problems just by looking at it like this. I examined the mature Spirit Grass, and there was nothing wrong with it. I’m going to need a plot of land to use as a test field."
Zhou Xiao said, "OK, no problem. If you need a test plot, just let me know. I’ll give you one of mine."
Han Tian was crunching the numbers with Jiang Ya. "Just as I thought. There’s not much profit in just growing Spirit Grass. Ten seedlings might only sell for one low-grade spirit stone, but then you have to factor in the survival rate. Eldest Martial Brother said he only gets about a fifty-fifty yield. He makes a little profit each time, but not much."
"And one person doesn’t have the energy to manage too many."
Chen Miaomiao added, "According to him, seedlings are cultivated from mature Spirit Grass by just cutting off a piece of the root system. But sometimes, when you cut it, not only does the Spirit Grass die, but the root cutting doesn’t survive either. There must be a specific method for cultivation, which is why he always buys his Spirit Grass Seedlings from someone else. I’m guessing the Medicine Sect has a way to guarantee the survival rate of these seedlings."
’They could guarantee it, but they wouldn’t share the method.’
’This was how powerful sects monopolized their techniques.’
[Ding! The Novice Task has begun.]
[Players may claim two plots of land for a Sect mission. Each month, a ranking mission will be held based on the quantity of Spirit Grass in your fields. Points earned from the ranking can be exchanged with the system for permission to record in-game video.]
[In addition to the two plots, players may use points to rent more fields from the Sect Master to begin cultivating Spiritual Medicine. Upon harvest, players need only turn over thirty percent of the yield to the Sect; the remaining seventy percent belongs to the player.]
[Please note: If a player chooses to trade their personal property with outsiders, it will not be taxed, but the player will not receive any game points. If the player chooses to have thirty percent of the transaction value collected as a tax, they will receive a certain number of points.]
[Points can be used to unlock all permissions that connect to the real world, as well as to exchange for rare items from the Sect Master.]
This string of messages gave the online players quite a shock.
"Holy shit, we can record videos now?"
"Doesn’t that mean we’ll be able to stream this game in the future?"
"That would be fucking awesome! As long as we can stream, everyone will know how badass this game I’m playing is!"
Han Tian’s eyes narrowed. "A ranking mission, huh..."
Zhou Xiao’s eyes darted around. "Of course, no game is complete without a ranking system. But Lord Han, you definitely want that video recording permission, don’t you?"
Han Tian nodded. "I want to make game review videos. I have to unlock this permission."
Right now, players didn’t even have the ability to take screenshots or record, making any kind of review nothing but empty words.
Without proof, no one would believe how incredible the game they were playing was.
It wasn’t that Song Jiulai was unwilling to grant it.
She simply couldn’t make something out of nothing!
"Any channel connected to reality consumes an immense amount of energy. Just recording a video and sending it out is a stretch, let alone live streaming."
The system retorted, "At least you have people now."
The calculation for the energy the system required was complex, but it was primarily contributed by the players. The stronger the players and the more resources the Sect had, the more energy it could obtain.
This, in turn, would allow Song Jiulai to unlock more of the system’s permissions.
Her own strength increasing would also boost the system’s energy, but one person’s contribution could never compare to that of an entire group.
This "energy" was an intangible thing. The points contributed by the players were, in essence, energy carriers. Once they learned to cultivate the Spirit Fields well, they would basically reach the threshold of true cultivation, not far from the Qi Refining Middle Stage.
The main problem was that their location had too little Spiritual Energy.
Deciding to act immediately, Han Tian thought of something. He logged off and posted a message in the group chat.
Jing Bao Tian: "I submitted a request to the system’s website to create a strategy forum. We can post guides and stuff there."
’This game definitely has more to it than just growing Spirit Grass. Some players are bound to figure out different strategies.’
"Yessss!"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah! We support you, pro!"
"SOB... I want to play so bad. I’m at work right now but I’m totally distracted. All I can think about all day is Cultivation."
"This is torture! Why do people even have to work?"
Han Tian closed the chat and applied to the system to create a strategy forum.
But his request was denied.
He frowned, not understanding why. But considering how mysterious the game’s developers were, he didn’t dwell on it and simply created his own strategy website.
[Yunzhou Continent Strategy Station]
First Entry: Complete Collection of Background Lore...
He started by briefly writing out the background divisions and, using his memory and an AI art generator, drew up a complete map from Wang’an County to the Longevity Sect.
He even marked the location of every NPC he could remember on the map, including notes on what each of them sold.
He also left a message for Zhou Xiao, Jiang Ya, Chen Miaomiao, and the others, telling them to fill in anything he might have missed.
And this would later become something that shocked the entire world.
The Genesis of the Yunzhou World.
