Chapter 19: Chapter 19: I Will Give A Wu a Proper Childhood
But unexpectedly, Jiang Ya and Chen Miaomiao didn’t have Orange Talent.
Theirs was purple, too.
But compared to Han Tian’s and Zhou Xiao’s, their purple was much richer, with orange, dawn-like streaks flowing within it.
They were likely on the verge of a breakthrough.
This gave everyone a solid estimate of the talent levels.
Presumably, anything lasting over three hours would be considered Orange Talent.
The two didn’t dwell on it. After learning about Han Tian’s plan, Chen Miaomiao shook her head. "My time is tight. I’ll leave the task of scouting down the mountain to you all. Once I’ve mastered Spiritual Energy, I need to start by researching the Spirit Fields and herb seeds here."
Han Tian nodded. "Alright. We’ll tell you everything we find when we get back."
Chen Miaomiao agreed.
So, Han Tian, Zhou Xiao, and Jiang Ya headed down the mountain.
Wu Dahu had planned to go, but he hadn’t expected it to get light so quickly in the game. He had to go to work, so he had to regretfully sit this one out. After all, he was offline, and the game’s clock waits for no one.
The three of them followed A Wu down the mountain.
A Wu, carrying a small basket on his back and wearing his hair in a Little Daoist’s topknot, was dressed in a long robe and seemed quite cheerful.
In truth, the three of them found him rather amusing.
He was clearly just a child, yet he happened to be the Eldest Senior Brother of the Longevity Sect.
As the sole disciple of the Longevity Sect for so long, A Wu had always handled all the daily chores, though there weren’t many to begin with.
But being alone all the time could get boring.
He was twelve, after all, and he chattered nonstop on the way down. He especially liked his Fourth Junior Sister—because she was a big talker.
One hadn’t had anyone to talk to in a long time, while the other was trying to fish for information. Their chatter could range from heaven to earth.
Zhou Xiao and the others managed to learn almost everything A Wu knew.
The Yunzhou Continent was vast—so vast that A Wu couldn’t even imagine its full extent.
The territory they were in belonged to the Ten Thousand Immortals Sect, one of the nine Major Sects of the Yunzhou Continent. The Ten Thousand Immortals Sect’s domain was centered in the most prosperous and bustling Ten Thousand Immortals City, a sacred place that all Cultivators yearned to visit.
Legend had it that within the Sect City, a person with a Spirit Root could reach the Qi Refining Middle Stage in ten days at most, just by breathing, no active Cultivation required.
That was impossible here. The Spiritual Energy was too thin—so thin you could barely find any demon beasts.
The few that did appear were low-level and lacked sentience.
"There are demon beasts here? Senior Brother, have you ever fought one?" Zhou Xiao was incredibly curious.
A Wu shook his head. "Forget fighting them, I’ve never even seen a demon beast. Their territory isn’t around here. Usually, the senior brothers and sisters from the Feique Sect go there for training."
Jiang Ya, who had been silent until now, suddenly asked, "Are there any Beast Taming sects?"
A Wu replied, "Of course. Some demon beasts can be tamed, but the Beast Taming sects mostly raise spiritual beasts. Spiritual beasts are obedient and gentle, with much better temperaments than tamed wild demon beasts, but they aren’t as powerful in a fight."
A Wu looked up and added, "But people say that beyond the Yunzhou Continent, there’s a Holy Beast Clan descended from the Ancient Divine Beasts. Even a newborn Holy Beast is said to have the combat power of a Human Clan’s Nascent Soul Stage Cultivator. I’ve never seen one, though. I heard it from the Old Sect Master, so I don’t know if it’s true."
The three of them quickly committed this information to memory.
’From the sound of it, the lore for this Yunzhou Continent is incredibly well-developed.’
’A Wu couldn’t reveal much, but what little he did share was already staggering.’
’Could a game really model such a vast world in its entirety?’
’What kind of servers could possibly support it?’
’Will we really get to see a world like that?’
A strange fire ignited in their hearts, not just for the game itself, but for its massive, sprawling lore.
Just this tip of the iceberg was enough to fill them with infinite yearning.
They weren’t flying, but their pace was fast. Soon, the town of Wang’an County came into view.
Having seen the splendor of modern cities, the players weren’t impressed by the scale of Wang’an County, but they were captivated by its novelty.
This realistic ancient town, even for a Cultivation World, felt so authentically archaic. They had never seen anything like it.
As they walked down the main street, they heard the cries of vendors and saw all sorts of pedestrians, every single one unique.
It had the lively, bustling atmosphere of the mortal world—something rarely seen by players like them, who were used to ordering takeout and staying indoors.
In that moment, they felt a sense of beautiful, tranquil peace.
"This is so nice..."
Zhou Xiao let out a soft sigh. "I’d forgotten what it’s like to enjoy such a lively atmosphere. I remember there used to be a stall downstairs from my apartment that sold beef-stuffed flatbread. The owner would be there every morning, making them fresh. The bread was baked until it was perfectly crisp and flaky, and the beef filling was so savory and fragrant. But then I started high school and was buried in my studies all day, and I never saw a scene with this much life in it again."
Han Tian swallowed. "Don’t say any more, you’re making me hungry. If I ordered takeout now, I’d probably just get something pre-packaged."
Even Jiang Ya glanced at the two of them.
A Wu looked at Zhou Xiao curiously. "Junior Sister, what are you talking about? High school? Studying?"
"Uh..."
’The system doesn’t stop us from saying modern things?’ Zhou Xiao realized.
[Ding! Other than blocking keywords like ’game’ and ’player,’ the system does not restrict player speech or actions. Players are advised to use their own discretion.]
Hearing this, Zhou Xiao said cautiously, "No, I was just reminiscing about my past."
"Are you craving beef patties? We don’t have that flatbread you mentioned, but we do have beef patties." A Wu extracted the main point from her words and puffed out his chest, thumping it proudly. "I know where to get some! I’ll take you!"
With that, he ran ahead, leading them to a stall. "Mister, give me five—no, fifty-two beef patties!"
One for each of his junior brothers and sisters, plus one for him and the Sect Master!
As long as an item didn’t involve Spiritual Energy, its price was ridiculously cheap compared to things bought with Spirit Stones.
"You got it!"
Zhou Xiao watched in disbelief as A Wu actually went to buy beef patties. She had just been making a casual, sentimental remark.
Zhou Xiao suddenly felt her eyes grow warm. "Holy shit. This feeling... the feeling of someone taking a single, casual comment to heart. Guys, I’m a goner. I’m playing this game for life. I’m going to build a better Sect for the Sect Master! I’m going to give A Wu the childhood he deserves! Monetization! Hurry up and open the monetization system! I’m gonna show this game what a terrifying whale looks like!!"
Han Tian and Jiang Ya were speechless. "..."
Still, the two of them were quite surprised as well.
A Wu had taken a casual remark so seriously.
When they first started, they had both thought of A Wu as just another NPC.
But now, arriving in this town, they realized how real everything was. Every single person was so alive, so authentic.
’They’re clearly real.’
’Can a game really do this?’
They had only been in the game for a few hours, yet they had already asked themselves this question countless times.
And most importantly...
’A game like this... will it attract the government’s attention?’
