Chapter 168: Chapter 168: Huaxia Abused Aliens When They Went to the Moon

Mu Qiu’s gasp didn’t startle her, but it did startle the system.

"Don’t scare me! Why are you so jumpy?"

Mu Qiu: "..."

She didn’t have time to bicker with the system, because she had just heard a subtle sound—the tink of a pin hitting the ground.

It sounded like... it came from further down the passage.

The passage was pitch-black. Even with a flame flickering on her fingertip, she couldn’t see anything more than a meter away.

Even for someone as brave as Mu Qiu, such an environment would test anyone’s true mettle.

She shielded herself with Spiritual Energy and felt her way forward one step at a time. It was then, while the darkness had yet to fully dissipate, that she unknowingly triggered some kind of switch.

Suddenly, everything before her lit up.

No, it had *really* lit up.

A perfectly normal bedroom, like a young lady’s private quarters, had just appeared out of nowhere before her.

To her right, in the center of the wall, stood an enormous, ornately carved bed. Pink, silk-like curtains cascaded down, completely obscuring the view of the bed itself.

In the center of the bedroom sat a round wooden table, upon which a pair of red candles burned.

’Aren’t red candles usually set out for festive occasions?’

The atmosphere here was already steeped in strangeness. The transition from the sacrificial plaza to this room was jarringly abrupt.

Mu Qiu asked the system, "It hasn’t been three days. I didn’t switch worlds, did I?"

System: "Nope. You’ve only been here for half an hour."

The system’s time was unaffected by the small world, which meant Mu Qiu was still inside that mysterious small world.

Mu Qiu glanced at the curtains cascading from the headboard, but still lacked the courage to pull them aside, terrified she might find a peacefully sleeping woman lying within.

’If this were a horror script, there’s probably an even greater chance of finding a bride in a red wedding veil under there.’

Bookcases also lined the sides of the room, filled with quite a few books. This really did look like a young lady’s chamber.

Mu Qiu walked over to a bookcase. Ancient books didn’t have titles marked on their spines.

However, the books here weren’t packed densely, and she could make out a few titles on their sides.

They were written in the native script of the Yunzhou Continent.

*Empress’s Autobiography*

*Emperor’s Daughter Autobiography Two*

*Third Volume of the Emperor’s Daughter’s Autobiography*

*Views on the Impeachment of Elder Huang Shui of the No Emperor Sect*

*No Emperor Sect Administrative Orders*

Mu Qiu: ?

She subconsciously reached for that book. After all, the Spiritual Body outside had just mentioned this strange sect, the No Emperor Sect.

But the instant her fingers touched the book, the world around her changed dramatically.

A blast of wind struck her face.

She was suddenly aware of a damp feeling.

She looked down to see herself standing at the edge of the plaza steps, her hand still outstretched. Below her feet, clouds and mist roiled.

And right before her eyes, the enormous head of a great beast, its golden pupils wide open, was staring coldly at her from within the mist.

Given her size, she only came up to its pupil.

She was so close, she could even see the tough, bark-like patterns of the skin on its face.

System: "This is scarier than a horror story, isn’t it."

Mu Qiu: "..."

"Friend, what is this dish? How can it be so delicious!"

"Huh? This? It’s just a regular grilled chicken wing."

Inside the Moon City Ruins, Lin Yuyu and Li Qianqing were sitting together.

The Moon City Ruins were vast. They had been walking for half a day without anything happening, and being in the small world seemed to drain a bit of one’s energy.

This loss had little effect on a Cultivator, however. It was just that Lin Yuyu was still livestreaming, and she got a craving after finding that just chatting with Li Qianqing was a bit boring. So, she took some snacks she had prepared out of her Jiezidai.

The Jiezidai in the Cultivation World all have a preservation function, allowing food to be taken out and eaten at any time.

Lin Yuyu built a fire right then and there to grill, and even the ethereal-looking Li Qianqing was drawn in by the aroma of the wings.

Lin Yuyu naturally offered a skewer to Li Qianqing, while subtly trying to fish for information during their conversation.

Li Qianqing was easily captivated by the grilled wings in front of her.

Cultivators truly didn’t care much for worldly pleasures like food, but they would still take a bite or two of something truly delicious.

It was Li Qianqing’s first time tasting such delicious grilled wings. She was inevitably impressed and asked where they were purchased.

"A friend of mine made them."

She had been about to say her Sect, but considering they had snuck in, Lin Yuyu deliberately avoided using such words.

Li Qianqing seemed to come to a realization. "Your friend is truly skilled. Few people are willing to spend time mastering these mortal foods."

Lin Yuyu shook her head. "A person’s life is only so long, and the same goes for a Cultivator. As long as you haven’t achieved Ascension, there’s always an end. This life is so long, of course you should do things that make you happy. And eating delicious food is one way to do just that."

Li Qianqing paused, slightly stunned. Her expression immediately turned serious. "Friend, what you say has some merit, but you mustn’t sell yourself short. As for the path to Ascension, as long as one hasn’t reached the end, one’s fate is never certain."

’Of course, people live for happiness.’

’But the source of that happiness should be to facilitate better cultivation.’

’Everyone gives their all for their cultivation. Only those who are certain they have no hope left can afford to be so carefree.’

’For someone as young as Lin Yuyu, has she already given up hope on her own cultivation?’

Lin Yuyu: "Huh?"

She was a bit bewildered, but she could tell Li Qianqing disapproved of her words, so she just went along with it, placating her. "Qianqing, you’re right. I was getting attached to appearances."

[HAHAHAHAHA, ’getting attached to appearances.’ I never in my life thought I’d hear such a cultured phrase from the head of the Forbidden Army!]

[Damn, how come everyone starts talking all formal and fancy the moment they enter the Cultivation World?]

[Just a regular fan here, I’ve been offline for a bit. I can’t believe this is really a full-dive VR game...]

[This game is just too awesome! What’s the difference between Li Qianqing and a real person?]

[It’s a shame we can only watch Lin Yuyu. I heard from Han Tian’s stream that she’s not the only player who entered a Secret Realm. Which Secret Realms did the other players get, and why aren’t they streaming?]

[Based on the info from the streams so far, the lore for this Yunzhou Continent is massive. I can’t believe any game company could pull this off. Foreign countries must be totally freaking out.]

As Lin Yuyu also began to stream, the more information she revealed, the more people became convinced that this was truly a game world.

Because everything in it, including the special effects, was on a scale that no current tech company could possibly support long-term.

If this was all a hoax, was the cost really something the world could afford to pay?

Of course, people in Huaxia were gradually starting to believe, but for other countries that had only just received scraps of vague information, the news was a bombshell.

[Huaxia Suspected of Possessing Black-Box Tech — An Analysis: Did Huaxia Abuse Aliens When They Landed on the Moon?]

[Full-Dive Tech OR an International Hoax? A Huaxia Conspiracy? Or Did They Discover an Alien Inheritance on the Moon!]

[I’m an American of Huaxia descent, and I can testify: my grandma told me that Huaxia really did get alien super-technology after they went to the moon. They’ve been hiding this technology!]

The Huaxia people who saw these foreign reports: "..."

’Oh, crap. Did our motherland really abuse aliens when she went to the moon?’
