Chapter 1918: Chapter 1914: Nuwa with Sentiment and Loyalty
Ye Fan encountered Nuwa in the deepest parts of the Milky Way.
At this moment, Nuwa stood before a black hole, seemingly on the verge of being drawn in by its power. As for the situation inside the black hole, Ye Fan had previously investigated it. It was merely a passageway connecting different parts of the universe. Ye Fan had speculated that this cosmic disaster’s attack might originate here, as it was also a taboo for cultivators.
However, for beings of ancient power, black holes weren’t that terrifying. They were just restricted zones for cultivation. Once you entered, you could come out again, and even time could be reversed, making time attributes irrelevant.
"What is Nuwa doing here?" Ye Fan asked Nuwa from behind, feeling that Nuwa resembled a profound Hunter waiting for her prey, and he sensed that he might be Nuwa’s prey.
Nuwa turned to look at Ye Fan, with a hint of disappointment in her voice: "You’ve met me several times, yet you lack even the basic courtesy towards me?"
"What courtesy? You’ve created numerous avatars with the sole purpose of killing me, and they have been plotting to frame me, causing endless trouble, which frankly is caused by you, isn’t it? In essence, you’re my enemy, so there’s no need for me to be overly polite to my enemy!"
While saying this, Ye Fan was on guard against Nuwa, wary of her launching an attack. He was extremely cautious, afraid of any unforeseen events, as his cultivation was still inferior to Nuwa’s. Being careful was the best approach.
In truth, Ye Fan wasn’t entirely clear about the extent of his cultivation, as he could defeat all ancient powers except for Pan Gu, Fu Xi, and Nuwa. As for the level of cultivation of these three ancient powers, he hadn’t truly faced them and didn’t have a clear understanding. However, he knew this much: the cultivation of these three ancient powers was vastly superior, like the difference between a drop of water and an ocean compared to ordinary ancient powers.
Nuwa looked back towards the black hole, saying, "These black objects are perhaps the most mysterious entities in the universe. Once, when my cultivation was still low, I ventured in to investigate and almost didn’t make it out. Later, someone rescued me..."
Ye Fan didn’t understand why Nuwa suddenly said this. It seemed she was recounting something dreadful, yet her tone was relaxed and calm.
"That person wasn’t Pan Gu, was it?" Ye Fan asked.
"No, it was Fu Xi, once my man. Now... he has lost his essence, perhaps not knowing who treats him well. The feeling between Fu Xi and me is no longer the same as in the ancient cultivation era. How I should face Fu Xi now is still a question. We have significant issues between us... Problems that might also affect my future relationship with him," Nuwa replied.
Ye Fan, listening to these complex matters, suddenly realized that Nuwa seemed just like an ordinary human woman complaining in front of him.
Ye Fan couldn’t ascertain whether the Nuwa before him was her true self, but he judged that Nuwa wouldn’t escape the limitations of her true form. Even if not the true form, she was the closest existence to it.
"Humans, stop pondering over irrelevant matters," Nuwa said. "If you think I brought you here to kill you, then you are gravely mistaken. Even if you possess the qualifications to challenge ancient powers, there remains a heaven-and-earth gap between your cultivation and mine... This is a human way of describing it. In front of me, you have no secrets, including your innermost thoughts. I created humans, thus mastering the ability to comprehend human thought. In my eyes, humans are merely unmasked life forms. I wish to help you obtain what you desire, yet I know this help is meaningless to you!"
What Nuwa said seemed profound, and Ye Fan didn’t wish to argue with her.
Ye Fan said, "What are you saying? I don’t entirely understand."
"You do understand, you’re just pretending to be ignorant. I sent Chang Yi to find you to tell you that if you can follow a set of game rules to accomplish the current matter, you will become one of the ancient cultivators... I know you won’t agree, but know this: if you refuse, it means you’ll receive no help from the ancient cultivators. If we want to kill you, you would have no choice but to accept death. This is your choice, and you can’t blame others," Nuwa said.
Ye Fan felt like he was conversing with a woman of highly complex mind and thoughts, where every word required contemplation to be understood.
Nuwa’s threat was apparent, and it seemed she was slightly unbalanced.
Ye Fan said, "Since you’re aware of our choices, there’s no need to raise certain matters again. If you want to kill, then do it now, and I’ll resist to the end."
"I don’t want to make him uneasy; that’s why I haven’t killed you. If it were my former self, why would I hesitate to destroy the humans I created?" Nuwa said helplessly. "I’ve been waiting for his support, but now it seems unlikely. He is entirely focused on helping that person."
"Are you talking about Fu Xi?" Ye Fan asked.
"It doesn’t matter who it is anymore. Ye Fan, I brought you here to show you a play, not to destroy you or the beings on Earth. I want you to see what that ancient cosmic disaster is truly about!" Nuwa said.
This answer surprised Ye Fan a lot; he hadn’t expected Nuwa to show him this.
"You may be curious, but all I can say is, if I wanted to kill you, it would probably be after you’ve solved the cosmic disaster problem. I’ve long known who the chosen one by your side is. Actually... I am ostensibly going to kill you and that chosen one, but I’ve been protecting you behind the scenes all along... Don’t disbelieve. If I intended to kill you, would you still be alive?" Nuwa asked.
Ye Fan thought for a moment, then shook his head, "Indeed, if you wanted to kill me, I wouldn’t have the ability to resist, especially not most of the time."
"You constantly think I am bound by some ancient order, but I am merely concerned with the cosmic disaster. I know the disaster isn’t easy to handle. I showed you the true catastrophe to consider the beings, and I never had the genuine intent to annihilate humanity," Nuwa said.
