Chapter 1886: Chapter 1882: Shun’s Emergence
Another ancient powerful being has appeared.
It’s Shun, one of the ancient cultivators. Shun’s cultivation level is very high, and though it might be somewhat inferior to Emperor Jun, that is only relative, as Emperor Jun has just awakened and many of his cultivation hasn’t recovered, limiting his abilities greatly. When Shun will awaken, no one knows. This person is affiliated with Pan Gu’s lineage, Ye Fan knows that this person is very difficult to deal with; his cultivation might even surpass Emperor Jun’s.
"A very dangerous human, constantly causing us ancient beings to fail; you seem to be an exceptional person among humans. Unfortunately, you’ll never be the chosen one, nor can you accomplish the task entrusted by Pan Gu—what a pity!" Shun appeared before Ye Fan, but his body was shrouded in a black mist, making it impossible for Ye Fan to see his features clearly. He only knew it was a young person, but this youthfulness was merely superficial, as ancient beings often change their appearance based on their desires, even creating fake appearances.
Ye Fan said: "Are you the ancient being Shun? What is your purpose in coming here? To marvel at my existence? Or perhaps to kill me?"
"You’re overthinking. I won’t do Nuwa’s bidding, so I won’t kill you. I’m merely here to ask for a person to be taken away. Can you help me with that?" Shun spoke to Ye Fan in a tone of negotiation.
Nu Ying cursed: "You damned man, what are you doing? I’ve been held captive, and you’re speaking this way with the scoundrel who imprisoned me? Do you mean if Ye Fan doesn’t return the person to you, you’re done with me?"
Shun chuckled and replied: "Still the same as before, your temper hasn’t changed. Speaking this way actually causes trouble for yourself. Ye Fan, you know what level his cultivation has reached. Even if he might not defeat me, killing you in front of me wouldn’t be difficult. Discussing this matter with him now is perfectly reasonable. If I were to take a tougher stance, I’d only find an opponent, possibly endangering you! Instead of thanking me, you blame me?"
"Worthless man, just admit if you lack ability, why such excuses? Ye Fan, you can kill this man. I don’t know him, and I won’t have any dealings with him in the future. If you kill him, I’m yours; do with me whatever you wish, even make me your servant or be your woman like Xi He!" Nu Ying, trying to provoke conflict between Ye Fan and Shun, seemed eager for them to fight.
But Ye Fan had no intention of bringing trouble upon himself, and Shun seemed uncertain of victory. Furthermore, as a member of Pan Gu and Fu Xi’s faction, Shun had no reason to kill Ye Fan. Even if he harbors some dissatisfaction with Ye Fan’s existence, he must respect the rules set by Pan Gu and Fu Xi not to slaughter living beings. Moreover, Ye Fan has significant ties with the chosen one, making it impossible for Shun to kill him lightly.
Shun said: "Nu Ying, save your strength; you still have your life, which makes you very lucky. Perhaps you don’t know, but many ancient cultivators who fell asleep have never awakened, including your sisters... Alas, seeing their forever youthful faces after awakening, I felt a great pity."
"You man, you always have so many women around, and you say such things in front of me? I don’t want to hear it. Ye Fan, kill him, and I’m yours!" Nu Ying continued to roar.
Ye Fan ignored Nu Ying, focusing his gaze on Shun and said: "You seem to be a person of sentiment."
"What sentimentality? Just a mere mortal. I’ve always believed leading a life of simplicity is enough for me. The disputes among ancient cultivators have little to do with me. Nuwa herself approached me to kill you! She didn’t say it directly, but I understood her intentions. She believes your existence disrupts the order of the ancient cultivators’ dominance; you are a challenge to this order. In her view, only by annihilating you can the order be rewritten benefitting humanity, which is necessary for ancient cultivators! Yet, I have different thoughts, which is why I didn’t join Nuwa’s faction!" Shun explained.
Ye Fan remained silent, understanding that there shouldn’t be animosity between himself and Shun, nor did he wish to gain another enemy.
"Ye Fan, I know your name. You’re a human cultivator from Earth. Who would’ve thought such a powerful cultivator could enter the world of immortals? You have changed the entire order, and even if I don’t kill you today, we will become adversaries eventually... Have you decided whether to return my woman?" Shun suddenly asked.
Ye Fan shook his head slightly: "Nu Ying is a trophy I obtained after defeating her. If you want to take her away without paying any price, you must defeat or even kill me to have the chance!"
"You’re stubborn. I dislike your stubbornness because I believe human stubbornness is asking for trouble. You know I won’t kill you, yet you say this to provoke me, to make me fight you, perhaps awakening your elemental forces, correct? I tell you, that’s impossible. Even if you disagree, I will take her with me!" Shun stated.
"Then let’s try!" Though Ye Fan previously did not want to confront Shun, a thought occurred to him: allies of Pan Gu and Fu Xi are few, and now Shun is a highly cultivated ancient being in their faction, ranking not so low among the ancient powers.
Ye Fan’s Fire Dragon Sword reappeared in his hands; Shun, however, showed no intention of attacking. Instead, his gaze carried a sense of tranquility as he looked at Ye Fan, saying: "With such a strong protective spirit, you must have many women around you!"
"That’s none of your business!" Ye Fan replied.
"You may feel it’s not relevant, but I find it significant. You understand a woman’s tenderness well because you carry the supreme Yang Spiritual Energy. This energy fosters a strong protective instinct towards human women, indicating you are indeed a passionate person. We should refrain from fighting; return her to me, and I promise never to act against you again, wouldn’t it be good to have one more friend in this world?" Shun expressed, "Moreover, even if you keep Nu Ying, she holds no real meaning for you. I understand your mindset; you wouldn’t touch her, knowing she’s my woman! And I haven’t offended you, nor am I your enemy, so why would you touch my woman? That would be unethical!"
"Perhaps you are right; I won’t touch her, but that doesn’t mean I don’t require a furnace!" Ye Fan countered.
