Chapter 432: Chapter 430: Crisis Lifted
After watching Zuo Wenya leave, Lin Xinghai and Liu Miaomiao didn’t rest any longer.
They pulled out their Communication Wristwatches, confirmed the location of the nearest survivor point, and immediately headed over.
They hadn’t gone far before they detected Little Fatty and Jin Tong with their Perception Power.
The two were hiding in a dilapidated house, nervously peeking outside from time to time.
"What are you two doing?" Lin Xinghai said, walking over with Liu Miaomiao.
"Ah! Boss, we were waiting for you!" Little Fatty jumped in fright when he heard the sudden voice outside, then shouted excitedly.
"That’s not what you said earlier," Jin Tong interjected, calling him out. "You said there were still Mutated Zombies around and that if we ran into them, we wouldn’t even have a chance to escape. That it would be safer to just hide."
Little Fatty shot him a look but ignored him, continuing, "Boss, you’re incredible! Killing those two Mutated Zombies without a Mecha... You’re definitely the first person in the history of the exam to ever do that."
"Oh? And how do you know I killed those two Mutated Zombies instead of just running away?" Lin Xinghai asked, a bit curious.
"Heh heh, Boss, just take a look at the leaderboard and you’ll see," Little Fatty said with a grin.
Lin Xinghai immediately pulled out his Communication Wristwatch and opened the leaderboard. A glance at it left him slightly surprised.
Before the fight for the Energy Balls, his Points had already reached 150,000. Then, when he was extorting Yan Feijie’s group, he helped them kill 3,500 High Level Zombies. All those Points were credited to him, adding another 35,000.
At that point, his total Points had reached 185,000.
But now, his total on the leaderboard was a staggering 285,000—a full 100,000 Points higher.
"It looks like they gave me 50,000 Points for each Mutated Zombie," Lin Xinghai mused, stroking his chin. "Or maybe the Spitter was worth 20,000 and the Giant Arm was worth 80,000, something like that."
Of course, Lin Xinghai knew the military probably didn’t have a fixed standard for this. They likely never even considered that someone could pull it off.
Still, for examinees who hadn’t even reached the Blood Qi Realm to kill Mutated Zombies without a Mecha... frankly, any amount of Points they awarded wouldn’t have been too much.
He also glanced at Liu Miaomiao’s Points, which had shot up by 20,000. ’That must be the reward for an assist.’
After a moment’s thought, Lin Xinghai took the combat pack containing the Energy Balls from Little Fatty.
"I’m giving you each 10 Energy Balls. That should at least guarantee you all place in the top four. As for your specific rankings amongst yourselves, that will depend on your own skills," Lin Xinghai announced.
He was speaking mainly to Jin Tong and Little Fatty.
Although the awarded Credit Points would all end up in his hands, the third- and fourth-place finishers would receive different discounts over the next semester.
Third place would get a 30% discount, while fourth would get 20%. The difference might not seem like much if used for just one or two purchases.
But stretched over an entire semester, the difference in saved Points would be substantial.
It was for this reason that Lin Xinghai didn’t pre-determine their rankings.
Hearing this, Jin Tong was naturally pleased. He had earned slightly more Points than Little Fatty, so this meant he would secure third place.
Little Fatty, on the other hand, didn’t care much. With the resources his family provided, he looked down on most ordinary items anyway, so a slightly better discount didn’t mean much to him.
He was more curious about what Lin Xinghai planned to do with the remaining 18 Energy Balls. After all, with his current score, Lin Xinghai could easily secure first place without needing them at all.
Never one to hold back his curiosity, Little Fatty immediately asked.
"I plan on giving them to Sun Tianbo’s and Xie Shanyong’s teams. Some of the people on their squads performed pretty well."
"Most of the practical combat training at the academy will be group-based anyway. Since I have the resources now, I don’t mind gathering a group of my own." Lin Xinghai had no reason to hide his intentions.
He hadn’t brought them along during the fight for the Energy Balls simply because they would have been a hassle.
But now that it was all over, the outcome was even better than he had expected, and he had extra Energy Balls to spare. It only made sense to plan for the future.
Besides, even people like Qiu Liang had a large entourage. As the number one student of his year, it would be a little strange if he didn’t have a few followers of his own.
Seeing his guess was correct, Little Fatty’s face lit up. He almost danced with joy as he said, "Boss, that’s a brilliant decision!"
"What are you so happy about?" Jin Tong asked quietly, not quite understanding.
"Are you stupid?" Little Fatty whispered in his ear. "Right now, we’re at the bottom of the totem pole in this little group. But when the new guys come, won’t we become the old guard? We can just order them around to get things done."
Jin Tong nodded thoughtfully, though he wasn’t as excited as Little Fatty. Instead, he seemed a bit worried. "If that many people really join, aren’t you worried our status won’t be secure?"
"Heh! I’m not worried, anyway. As for you, just be my lackey, and I’ll have your back," Little Fatty said mischievously, his eyes darting about.
"Get lost!"
Lin Xinghai paid no mind to their bickering. After getting their things in order, the four-person team set off once more.
They didn’t encounter any Mutated Zombies on the road ahead. As for the regular Zombie hordes, Lin Xinghai’s group handled them with ease.
It wasn’t long before they reached the nearest survivor point.
Over 500 examinees had already gathered there.
The vast majority were peering outside, their faces etched with terror. They had clearly been through a major scare.
It made sense, though. They were talking about Mutated Zombies—beings that were practically impossible for the examinees to fight head-on at their current level.
Many who encountered them couldn’t even escape.
The arrival of Lin Xinghai’s group naturally drew a great deal of attention.
The other examinees looked at them with a mixture of sycophancy, envy, and jealousy. But without exception, no one dared to approach and strike up a conversation.
However, the tense atmosphere there gradually began to dissipate.
Anyone who wasn’t a complete idiot understood that the arrival of a Demon Level genius like Lin Xinghai would undoubtedly draw the special attention of the military.
This survivor point might even be designated a priority protection zone, which would undoubtedly make them all much safer.
The minutes ticked by. After about five or six minutes, a humming sound suddenly filled the air, coming from a distance.
Then they saw them: massive transport planes flying toward the city center, with Mechas leaping down from them one after another.
At this sight, a wave of cheers erupted from the examinees throughout the city, abruptly drowning out the roars of the Zombies.
Everyone knew that with the arrival of the Mechas, the crisis was finally over.
