Chapter 430: Chapter 428: Divine Demon Body
Lü Wei watched as Lin Xinghai charged forward, opened fire, and brutally gunned down a "Spitter."
It made him start to question reality.
’Are Mutated Zombies really that easy to kill?’
Even if it was just a Spitter with low Defense Power, it shouldn’t be possible to kill one with ordinary bullets.
After all, it wasn’t a stationary target; it could dodge and defend itself.
But what made him question reality even more was what came next: Lin Xinghai, relying on his incredible Speed, was running circles around the "Giant Arm"—kiting it like he was walking a dog.
His eyes were glued to the figure that constantly dodged attacks, and he finally came to a conclusion.
Lin Xinghai had been targeted time and time again, even making an enemy of 3,000 other candidates. And yet, even under those circumstances, he had still been hiding his true strength.
His top Speed wasn’t the 500 points they had on record, but a terrifying 800 points!!!
At the stage of the Optimized, even a Speed-type Superpower User who could reach a Speed of over 300 points was considered a top-tier genius.
The highest Speed Lin Xinghai had previously shown was 500 points, so they had all unanimously agreed he was a Demon.
And now, this Speed of 800 points...
Lü Wei was at a loss for words.
He guessed that even the old-timers at the Academy of Sciences researching the limits of the human body wouldn’t dare to imagine such a thing.
At the same time, however, he also saw hope. Perhaps only a genius like this, one who defied all common sense, could break through the current limits of human potential and become an existence even more powerful than a Divine Demon Realm expert.
As he was mulling this over, a spot on the large screen in front of him suddenly caught his attention.
It was an exceptionally large "Death Claw," and it was charging straight for one of the temporary survivor outposts they had established.
These outposts had been set up in densely populated areas, chosen based on the distribution of the candidates.
By now, over a hundred people had already gathered at this particular outpost.
And the soldiers defending the outpost were completely unable to halt the Death Claw’s advance.
Whether it was Heavy Machine Guns, Grenade Cannons, or High-Energy Bombs, none of the ordnance hitting its body seemed to cause much damage.
Worse, the few soldiers who got too close were swiftly killed.
"Dammit! That Speed, that Defense Power, that size... no matter how you look at it, that’s a Tier Two Death Claw! How did those useless fools in the Abyssal Guard not even know a monster like this got loose?" Lü Wei seethed, immediately contacting Zuo Wenyao on the internal comms.
After all, even a Body Shaping Realm expert couldn’t fight a Tier Two Mutated Zombie without a Mecha.
Here in Dong’an City, only Zuo Wenyao, a Divine Demon Realm expert, had the power to defeat it on his own.
"What is it?" Zuo Wenyao answered almost instantly, his voice sharp.
Lü Wei could even hear a hint of tension in his voice.
"I have good news and bad news. Which do you want first?" Lü Wei asked.
"Let’s start with the good news. I trust it won’t disappoint me," Zuo Wenyao said, suddenly relaxing. He knew that if the situation were truly urgent, Lü Wei wouldn’t be wasting time trying to keep him in suspense.
"The good news is, you don’t have to worry about Lin Xinghai," Lü Wei said.
His worst fear hadn’t come to pass. Zuo Wenyao instantly relaxed, his pace even slowing considerably.
"Did another rescue team arrive early?" Zuo Wenyao guessed.
"Nope! Lin Xinghai and his girlfriend took out a Spitter in the blink of an eye. Now he’s dealing with that Giant Arm. He’s already shot out one of its eyes and both its ears, and the back of its neck is a bloody mess."
"If he had Armor-Piercing Bullets, I suspect that Giant Arm would already be dead," Lü Wei added with a sigh of amazement, watching as Lin Xinghai fluidly swapped magazines and resumed his barrage.
Even though Zuo Wenyao had been bracing himself for the most optimistic outcome, this news still stunned him. He was leaping between rooftops and nearly missed his footing, almost plummeting to the ground.
"Okay, now for the bad news," Lü Wei said hurriedly. "For some reason, a Tier Two Death Claw has appeared. We can’t handle it. You need to get over there now!"
By this point, the outpost had already been destroyed by the Death Claw. It was now hunting down the candidates, and the rescue teams couldn’t hold it back.
"Got it!" Although Zuo Wenyao had a million questions, he wasn’t as tense now that he knew Lin Xinghai was safe for the time being. He immediately rushed toward the coordinates Lü Wei sent him.
「Thirty seconds later!」
A deafening roar echoed from somewhere in the city center.
At that moment, Zuo Wenyao’s body had transformed into a three-meter-tall giant wreathed in flames. The most striking feature was the layers of fiery patterns across his skin, which seemed to writhe with terrifying Energy as they flowed.
Many onlookers stared in shock at the scene, but the more knowledgeable among them immediately recognized it: Zuo Wenyao had activated a flame-type Divine Demon Body.
ROAR!
As the exceptionally large Death Claw let out a furious roar, it was as if some internal shackle had been broken. Its aura surged, fully revealing the terrifying presence of a Tier Two Mutated Zombie. In that instant, its power more than doubled.
With another roar, its incredibly Sharp Claws, imbued with terrifying Power, swiped directly at Zuo Wenyao.
However, Zuo Wenyao didn’t even try to dodge. He met the attack head-on, his flame-wreathed fist, surging with dense Blood Qi Power, punching straight out.
Fist and Sharp Claw collided, the terrifying Power contained within each erupting in that instant.
A terrifying Energy shockwave radiated out from the point of impact, sweeping through the surroundings. The doors and windows of nearby buildings instantly shattered, and cracks of varying sizes spiderwebbed across the walls.
Even some nearby Zombies were shredded by the violent blast of Energy.
The candidates watching from a distance were filled with horror at the sight, but also with an incredible sense of longing.
They all dreamed of the day they too could become Divine Demon Realm experts and wield such power.
When the full-force collision ended, the ground beneath Zuo Wenyao’s feet had caved in, and his body had sunk half a meter into the crater.
The Death Claw, however, was in a much worse state. Its massive, 15-meter-tall body was sent flying backward, only coming to a stop after crashing through a building. More importantly, cracks had appeared on the Sharp Claws of its right arm.
It was clear that in the head-on collision, it had gotten the worst of the exchange.
But Zuo Wenyao had no intention of showing any mercy.
His figure blurred as he charged forward and leaped into the air. While still high above, a sky full of flaming fist afterimages rained down with a thunderous roar.
As a continuous series of explosions rang out, even the distant candidates could clearly sense the Death Claw’s terrifying aura steadily weakening.
