Chapter 715: Chapter 715: A Familiar Woman

Zheng Xiao followed her father’s gaze. Far in the distance, a dense mass of Monster Beasts swarmed together, desperately held back by the men her father had brought.

"Father, this isn’t a sustainable solution! Our people are no match for those things!" Panic was a rare sight on Zheng Xiao’s face.

Her father glared at her fiercely. "Zheng Xiao, what have I taught you? Stay calm when faced with a crisis!"

Zheng Xiao grew anxious. "But, but, our people are on the verge of collapse!"

"Alright, I won’t frighten you any further," her father said calmly. "I contacted the Xue Family as soon as I received the news. They should be sending people over shortly."

The Xue Family resided in the inner city while they were in the outer city. Although they were far apart, it wouldn’t take long for the Xue Family’s people to arrive. Knowing reinforcements from the Xue Family were on their way, Zheng Xiao finally felt a great weight lift from her heart.

"By the way, Zheng Xiao, I came to mobilize some of our men, but I heard you took them all to handle some business for you?" Zheng Ming asked, his face expressionless as he looked at his daughter.

Zheng Xiao scratched her head and turned away. "Haha, Father, look at how intense that fighting is!"

"Zheng Xiao! Don’t change the subject! Did you capture another foreigner and take him to your room again?!" Zheng Ming demanded, his tone laced with anger.

Zheng Xiao pouted at her father. "Oh, Father, it was just because he was so handsome. Besides, he’s a foreigner here with no family or connections. You could say I was doing him a favor!"

Zheng Xiao said this as if it were the most natural thing in the world, which exasperated Zheng Ming to no end.

"I’d let it slide if you were just playing around, but now you’re targeting foreigners! What if that foreigner has a powerful background? How many times have I told you how many people are watching our Zheng Family, just waiting for us to make a mistake! And yet you insist on causing trouble for me!" Zheng Ming gave Zheng Xiao a merciless tongue-lashing.

With tears welling in her eyes, Zheng Xiao grabbed Zheng Ming’s arm and shook it. "Father, why are you so angry? I already had that man investigated. He doesn’t have any powerful background, just a bit of strength, that’s all. Please don’t be angry. I know I was wrong. Next time, I’ll still do it—ack, no, I mean, I won’t do it again!" she declared with a look of sincerity.

Zheng Ming looked at her and sighed heavily. "Having a daughter like you really is my karma!"

As the two bickered, they suddenly saw someone running toward them from the distance.

"Master, Master, have our reinforcements arrived? The men at the front can’t hold on much longer!" The man’s expression was frantic, and he kept glancing back at the distant battle as he spoke.

The two of them immediately turned their gazes back to the front. The number of Monster Beasts seemed to have increased, and their people were fighting for their lives.

"Damn it, what is wrong with these creatures? Are they bewitched or something?!" Zheng Ming’s brows furrowed tightly as he watched the scene unfold.

He had already sent everyone he could spare, leaving only the experts back at the mansion to guard something important. He thought this matter would be resolved quickly, but it was now clear that wasn’t the case at all.

"Young Miss, should I go?" Uncle Wang offered.

Seeing the state of things, Zheng Ming cast aside his other concerns. "Go!"

As Uncle Wang rushed to join the battle, Zheng Xiao said, "Father, don’t worry. With Uncle Wang joining the fray, he’ll definitely hold the line for a good while. But what’s taking the people from the Xue Family so long?"

Uncle Wang charged to the front line. Gazing at the Monster Beasts, he felt something was off. These creatures don’t seem enraged, so how did they break through the barrier?

Before he could ponder it further, a horde of Monster Beasts charged toward him in unison. Uncle Wang immediately mobilized the Earth Element around him. "Earth Wall!"

A thick wall instantly materialized before him, blocking the Monster Beasts. But Uncle Wang knew this solved nothing. These Monster Beasts lacked sentience; they didn’t understand fear. They only knew how to slaughter. He watched the dense horde before him, not daring to pause for even a moment. Any slight delay would invite an attack from even more ferocious beasts.

He continuously channeled the Earth Element within his body, attempting to use the Earth Wall to keep them at bay. But the Earth Wall was merely a diversion; it couldn’t hold them back for long. Besides, there were far too many of them. Even if Uncle Wang exerted all his strength to sustain it, the wall couldn’t last forever. It was bound to be depleted eventually.

Moreover, the more the Monster Beasts fought, the more ferocious they became. Soon, Uncle Wang’s Earth Wall was breached.

Seeing this, Uncle Wang no longer hesitated. He immediately turned to flee toward the valley. The Monster Beasts, however, seemed to have anticipated this and immediately gave chase.

Uncle Wang quickly drew his Longsword and slashed at the beasts behind him. The nearby Monster Beasts dodged his blade, but some of the lower-level ones were not fast enough and were wounded. The Longsword was stained with fresh blood, emitting a faint, metallic odor. At this moment, Uncle Wang had no time to worry about such things.

He slashed wildly, using his Longsword to cut down the monsters swarming him. Yet, new beasts constantly appeared to take their place, attacking him relentlessly as if they felt no pain. Any beast so much as grazed by the Longsword would dissolve into black mist and vanish. Uncle Wang’s clothes were torn to shreds by sharp claws, mottled with bloodstains. His face was cut, and his body was covered in wounds.

But to him, all this was nothing compared to the dread coiling in his heart. The Monster Beasts seemed endless, and the reinforcements had still not arrived. He didn’t know how much longer he could last.

"AHH!"

Suddenly, a Monster Beast bit down hard on him. The shock of the attack sent a trickle of blood from the corner of his mouth. In response, Uncle Wang quickly tried to use his Earth Element to heal his wounds. But the Monster Beast seemed to sense its power and clamped down harder on his arm, as if trying to shatter the bone.

"ROAR!"

Refusing to be overpowered, Uncle Wang bellowed. His Earth Element erupted, instantly enveloping the Monster Beast, intending to refine it completely to ash. Yet the Monster Beast seemed oblivious to the pain. It continued to tear at his arm, trying to devour his very flesh. This made Uncle Wang’s brow tighten.

"Die!"

With a fierce swing of his Longsword, Uncle Wang slew the Monster Beast gnawing on his arm.

He glanced at the wound on his arm, frowning as he surveyed his surroundings. Just as he looked up, his eyes fell upon a familiar figure in the distance. Why does that woman look so familiar?
