Chapter 525: Chapter 512: Tu Xiao’an Opens His Eyes, and the Sky Darkens
Luo Ziyun struggled with all her might, but the rat tail binding her delicate body began to glow, more terrifying than the legendary Demon Locking Rope.
No matter how desperate she was, she was powerless to do anything.
A massive palm, dozens of yards wide, slammed down with terrifying power. In his mind’s eye, the Gray Demon King could already see this human-shaped snake being annihilated under his horrifying attack.
Luo Ziyun was immobile, forced to watch as Tu Xiao’an’s three strongest Battle Companions were sent flying. His other three Super Battle Pets, which had not yet ascended, were completely petrified under the Gray Demon King’s oppressive aura, unable to do a thing.
This strike was a matter of life and death. In this dire moment, no miracle appeared.
Luo Ziyun’s heart pounded violently. She heard a deafening crack of thunder, and it felt as if the sky itself was collapsing.
"Xiao’an! Xiao’an!" she cried hysterically, her exquisitely beautiful face as pale as a sheet of paper.
RUMBLE...
The massive palm crashed down, covering the sky. The ground shook violently as sand and stones were sent flying, and dust filled the air.
"Haha... No one I, the Gray Demon King, target can survive! The Snake Race wishes to rise? Not a chance! Because I, this king, do not allow it!"
The Gray Demon King, his body surging with Demon Qi, let out a shrill, ghost-like laugh that echoed through the heavens and the earth. His arrogance knew no bounds.
"Gray Demon King, you damn rat! I, Luo Ziyun, swear I will slice you into a thousand pieces!"
Luo Ziyun’s stunningly beautiful face was twisted in a snarl. A piercing killing intent, fueled by a towering rage, burned in her eyes.
Back on Monkey Mountain, Tu Xiao’an had vanished after a surprise attack from the Gray Demon King. Back then, Luo Ziyun had been so filled with regret that she’d wanted to make every rat in the world die alongside him.
She regretted her failure to protect him then. But now, even though she was right by Tu Xiao’an’s side, she was once again forced to watch him die.
She loathed this wretched rat who only knew how to launch sneak attacks.
"You madwoman, do you really think I will give you the chance to take your revenge?"
The Gray Demon King’s next move was to kill Luo Ziyun. It hadn’t been easy to restrain her, and this was a rare opportunity. If he didn’t kill her now, she would be even more frenzied than before once she was free.
She would likely hunt him to the ends of the earth.
Once he killed the Snake Race’s newly promoted Snake King and this madwoman before him, the Snake Race would be completely finished. They would no longer pose any threat to the Rat Race.
At this thought, nearly every cell in the Gray Demon King’s body leaped for joy. But suddenly, the smile on his face froze, and he nearly tumbled out of the sky.
In the swirling dust, Tu Xiao’an, who should have been shattered to pieces and reduced to ash, was revealed. He was still sitting cross-legged, perfectly unharmed. His handsome face was actually glowing, and his entire body was enveloped in a protective, tangible Divine Light Shield.
When Luo Ziyun saw this, she was overcome with joyous surprise. ’That man wouldn’t die so easily!’
"Hmph, you’re a real cockroach, aren’t you? I truly underestimated you. You have quite a few tricks up your sleeve," the Gray Demon King sneered. His face immediately turned sinister and ferocious, radiating killing intent as he shot through the air toward him.
He appeared abruptly above Tu Xiao’an’s head and, looking at the Light Shield, brought a palm strike filled with immense power crashing down.
The Gray Demon King intended to shatter the Light Shield and land a palm strike directly on the top of Tu Xiao’an’s skull, finishing him with his own hands.
As the palm descended, sand and stones were kicked up, space itself distorted violently, and a series of explosive bangs echoed out.
BANG...!
The Gray Demon King’s expression changed drastically. The Divine Light Shield hadn’t broken; it had completely blocked his attack as a Demon King.
The Light Shield flared with brilliant light, and a rebounding force erupted, sending the Gray Demon King flying backward.
"This is impossible!"
The Gray Demon King roared like a thousand raging rivers. As if provoked, he struck out once more, channeling immense force into another palm strike.
The Light Shield merely wavered, shaking slightly, but it still silently withstood the Gray Demon King’s brutal assault.
The Gray Demon King’s expression grew dark and uncertain, his features shifting like a ghost’s. ’What in the world is this Energy Light Shield? How can it block two of my attacks? It’s unbelievable... simply unbelievable!’
’Are the attacks of a Demon King a joke? Even a mountain would have been utterly obliterated by that last strike!’
’If I can’t even kill an unmoving, meditating snake, then I might as well give up on being a Demon King. I might as well just go find a wall and bash my head in!’
"I refuse to believe I can’t break this measly little Light Shield!"
The Gray Demon King’s eyes snapped open, shooting out beams of brilliant Essence. With a tremor of his muscles, the sound of his fists and feet tearing through the air suddenly erupted.
In the blink of an eye, he rained dozens of punches upon the Light Shield. The air filled with a dizzying array of fist-shadows, like a volley of arrows or a torrential downpour.
"Xiao’an, get up! Open your eyes!" Luo Ziyun screamed desperately. She was also struggling with all her might to break free. She could already feel the power of the rat tail weakening; in less than a minute, she would be free.
But right now, a single minute felt as long as an eternity.
In the hands of a Demon King, one minute was enough time to bring ruin and devastation upon the world, let alone kill a single, unmoving person.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM...!
Under the Gray Demon King’s ferocious assault, the Light Shield enveloping Tu Xiao’an finally began to falter.
The shield’s light grew dimmer and dimmer, on the verge of fading into nothingness.
"Now! It’s time to end this!"
Demon Qi surged from the Gray Demon King’s body, endless and untamed. With his next attack, he would wipe everything from existence.
His figure shot forward, leaving a trail of afterimages in his wake. He thrust out another palm strike, aiming straight for Tu Xiao’an’s face with blinding speed.
"Xiao’an, open your eyes!" Luo Ziyun felt like she was going insane. She watched as the seated Tu Xiao’an simply refused to open his eyes. His handsome, roguish face was flushed, as if he were completely unaware of the crisis.
It was a classic case of the bystanders being more anxious than the person in danger.
"He won’t get the chance to open them," the Gray Demon King snarled, his face as ferocious as an Ancient Fierce Beast’s. This palm strike would leave no room for any more surprises.
At the crucial moment, a brilliant light flashed. Tu Xiao’an’s tightly shut eyes finally opened. As they did, it was as if space itself trembled and rippled in fear.
"It’s useless even if you’ve opened your eyes! Snake Demon, die!" The Gray Demon King was slightly startled to see Tu Xiao’an’s eyes open, but it didn’t matter. The situation was already decided.
Tu Xiao’an watched the Gray Demon King close in until he was mere inches away, yet he remained completely unfazed. His pair of bewitching eyes were now like two perfectly calm, rippleless lakes—indifferent, cold, and utterly clear.
"The sky is turning dark."
He watched the Gray Demon King charge at him and calmly uttered those five words.
"What?"
The Gray Demon King almost looked up at the sky instinctively, but what did it matter if it grew dark? His determination to kill this snake was absolute.
Suddenly, the sky truly did turn dark. In an instant, the Gray Demon King felt as if he had gone blind; he couldn’t see a thing.
A cold voice reached his ears. "You rats are quite fond of hiding in the dark, aren’t you? In that case, you can die in the dark."
"Dark Devouring."
