Chapter 71: 71 | Lyra’s Awakening I

Mira frowned as she slowly exhaled.

"Something is not right."

Selene looked toward her, the blurry outline of Mira’s face turning in her direction.

"What do you mean?"

Mira frowned. The lines on her forehead deepened.

"A second awakening is not something that simply happens. It has an extremely low probability. In the entire city, there has not been a confirmed Double Awakener in years. Maybe decades. And now you suddenly awaken one too?"

She shook her head slowly.

"It does not make sense."

Selene lowered her head. She stared at her own hands. The blurry silhouettes of her fingers wiggled back at her, still strange and wonderful even as doubt crept into her mind.

"I do not know," she admitted quietly.

"I awakened mine and thought I was lucky. But now you awakened one too. That changes everything."

Lyra quickly typed on her phone.

The AI voice echoed through the room.

"Could it be that strange accident that did this to us?"

Selene was the first to shake her head slowly.

"I do not think it was the accident. There were many injured people along with us during the expedition. If the accident caused this, others should have awakened too. We would have heard about it from our families."

Mira agreed.

"Exactly. So it was not the accident. The accident just caused this. It did not give us anything new."

Lyra typed another question.

"Then what do we all have in common?"

"The food?" Selene suggested. Her voice was hopeful but uncertain.

Mira immediately shook her head.

"I awakened mine before we ate the meal. It can’t be the tea"

"The cultivation technique?" Selene asked again. It was the only thing that made sense.

Mira frowned deeper, the crease between her eyebrows becoming more pronounced.

"I have never heard of a cultivation technique granting talents. No matter how powerful. The Grand Cosmos Scripture is incredible, but it is still just a cultivation method. It helps you gather and circulate mana. It does not create talents. Talents come from the soul, not from mana."

Again, silence.

The three girls sat quietly in the room, thinking.

Then, almost simultaneously, the same name surfaced in all three of their minds.

"Dexter," Mira whispered.

Selene’s pupils contracted behind her white eyes.

Lyra slowly looked toward Dexter’s empty room. His door was open and she could see half way into his room.

Everything had started after meeting him.

The miraculous tea, the astonishing meals, and the impossible cultivation technique that appeared out of nowhere.

And now two second awakenings. Both happening within days of each other. Both happening to people living under the same roof as Dexter.

None of it made sense unless you connect Dexter to it.

Selene slowly muttered, "It cannot be him. No one can grant talents."

Her voice was uncertain, and she wanted to believe it was impossible. But the evidence was piling up, and each new piece fit the pattern too perfectly to ignore.

Mira nodded.

"I know. It should not be possible. Talents are innate."

She paused, her gaze drifting around the apartment.

"But the only common factor between us is Dexter."

Lyra’s fingers slowly hovered above her phone. She wanted to type something but could not find the right words.

Instead of typing, she closed her eyes.

A thought surfaced inside her mind.

What if I awakened too?

The thought took hold, and it refused to let go no matter how much she tried to push it away.

She slowly sat cross-legged on the couch, and both Mira and Selene looked at her curiously.

"What are you doing?" Mira asked.

Lyra opened one eye before typing.

The AI speaker responded.

"If both of you awakened, maybe I have one too."

Mira blinked, caught off guard by the statement.

"That is," she started, then stopped to think. Her frown deepened as she considered the possibility. Then slowly, reluctantly, she nodded.

"It is not impossible. If there really is a common trigger, and all three of us were exposed to the same things, then perhaps you should try sensing your body."

Selene smiled encouragingly. Through her vibration sight, she could see Lyra sitting on the couch. The blurry outline of her folded legs. The way her hands rested on her knees, palms up in a meditation posture.

"Close your eyes. Do not think about anything else. Just feel."

Lyra nodded.

She slowly closed her eyes.

The apartment fell completely silent. Even the refrigerator seemed to quiet its humming, though that was probably just her imagination.

She regulated her breathing.

She focused on her body.

Something that would indicate a hidden talent waiting to be discovered.

Minutes passed, but nothing happened.

She searched every corner of her body with her mind, looking for anything different, anything new, but there was nothing—just the darkness of the endless void and the three blazing star modes.

Apart from that’s sh has nothing.

After nearly ten minutes, she slowly opened her eyes and shook her head.

Nothing.

Mira smiled gently.

"Do not force it. Maybe it just needs more time. Or maybe it will come when you least expect it. That is how these things usually work."

Lyra sighed quietly in disappointment.

She had honestly been hoping for a miracle after seeing Mira’s Spectral Arms and Selene’s Echolocation, but it didn’t happen.

Still, seeing Selene smile for the first time in years, seeing Mira regain a little independence with her new arms, she was genuinely happy for them. That happiness outweighed her own disappointment.

Even if she remained the same, she could still see what they were saying with the AI glasses. It was nice.

Lyra let out another quiet sigh and slowly stood up to go to the room.

Just as she was about to leave the kitchen, she heard a voice speaking.

"Don’t try to give up. Just try again."

Lyra frowned and looked towards Mira. She clearly didn’t see her mouth move, so how did she speak? Not to mention. She heard her eardrum had been thoroughly destroyed, so how could she hear anything?

’It must have been the wind.’
