Chapter 706: Chapter 216: Superpower 2
As for the other cats, they didn’t think much of them. At home they had the stunningly beautiful Huahua, and the wild, charismatic Ah Bao.
On Hui Bai and the green-furred cat’s faces, there was nothing but utter disdain.
In the end, Su Xiaocai kept the two most patient ones, both girls. Although they hadn’t been acknowledged by the three cats, it was obvious they were full of patience and love for cats, so hiring them to take care of the cats wouldn’t be bad.
It’s just that caring for cats and training cats are two different pay scales. Su Xiaocai told them to think it over; if they came to work, they might have a Cat Trainer as their supervisor.
The two girls didn’t think too much about it and accepted the job on the spot. Only an idiot would say no.
They could bring their own cats over to play, and also pet other cats. The number of cats they had to care for was just right.
They’d be doing the same poop-scooping anyway—why not get paid? And the monthly salary wasn’t low, with full benefits. Jobs were hard to find on Capital Star; this was already top-tier work.
"You two should still think it over. My cats aren’t easy to raise, and once you’re hired, you’ll both have to sign a nondisclosure agreement."
"Are you doing experiments on the cats?" one of the girls asked.
"Not really experiments, I just need people to train them. These few cats are the least dangerous ones in my family. The breed I want you to take care of are the offspring of these two." Su Xiaocai showed them photos. "You need to be mentally prepared before you join. If you get scratched, it might injure your tendons or bones."
In the photos, Huahua was very fat, lazy, and looked gentle and harmless. Ah Bao, on the other hand, looked much scarier—graceful and agile, clearly full of explosive power at a glance.
The two girls stared wide-eyed at Huahua and Ah Bao. Such beautiful cats.
Ah Bao really was pretty dangerous.
"Ah Bao isn’t the most dangerous one, this one is." Su Xiaocai showed them a video of Huahua scratching a cat board.
The metal board creaked and groaned, just like a special effect.
Their faces instantly went pale.
"This is a cat?"
"Do you still want to come work?"
"If we get hurt, can we get reimbursed?"
"Mm, if it’s an injury caused by the cats, of course it’ll be reimbursed. But it can’t be you deliberately getting them to scratch you."
Even though there was a certain level of danger, they were only taking care of little kittens, raising them from young, and they’d be close to people.
Honestly, it wasn’t that different from raising baby tigers.
The two of them still nodded, saying they could start work anytime.
"Why are you so eager to stay?"
"Because they’re your cats. Things resemble their owner—so they must be smart and clever. I believe they won’t hurt people for no reason."
There it was again, the side effects of people trusting her too much.
Seeing they were determined, Su Xiaocai gave in.
She told them to start in a week. She couldn’t just take people in casually; she needed to investigate their backgrounds. Having someone to look after the kittens was good, but there was no guarantee their "love" wasn’t an act.
Just like Yi Suilu—one face in public, another in private when dealing with cats.
Anyway, the investigators were idle, and Xiang Qian’s other investigations weren’t urgent. Checking out two girls shouldn’t be hard.
Just after the interviews ended and she sent the applicants away, Yi Xue arrived at Yidian Cai Manor with two bodyguards.
When Yi Xue learned that Xue Zhiyi, who’d been missing for two hours, had ended up at Su Xiaocai’s place, she’d practically died of fright. She rushed over without even notifying Xue Feiting.
By the time she entered the manor, Su Xiaocai was already with Xue Zhiyi in front of a newly built temporary house. She and Ji Li were leaning together, drinking tea. The three cats were circling around Xue Zhiyi playing; occasionally he would respond to Su Xiaocai with a word or two, always prefaced with "little sister."
The whole scene had a tranquil, idyllic feel to it.
Walking through the bamboo grove, Yi Xue stopped in her tracks. With every "little sister" out of Xue Zhiyi’s mouth, waves crashed in her heart.
Xue Huiyi had been Xue Zhiyi’s sister for nearly twenty years and had never gotten him to call her "sis." Yet Su Xiaocai just sat there, smiling and chatting, and Xue Zhiyi actually responded to her.
Had her son’s autism gotten better?
Su Xiaocai had known Yi Xue had arrived for a while already. It was just that Ji Li had just tried to talk with Xue Zhiyi; the two of them were talking at complete cross purposes, but somehow it still turned into an argument.
Su Xiaocai was listening, completely absorbed.
As they bickered back and forth, Ji Li’s jealousy flared up again. Xue Zhiyi actually ordered Ji Li to spin in circles. The three cats were spinning; Ji Li alone refused. That made Xue Zhiyi anxious, and he pointed at the cats, asking them to teach Ji Li.
Su Xiaocai was trying hard not to laugh at the side. She actually felt this version of Xue Zhiyi had a much better personality than with his family. You could also say he was...obedient.
He looked silly, yet not truly stupid.
"Zhiyi." Yi Xue worried about her son the most. After a moment of shock, seeing him playing with the cats, she hurried over to check if he was hurt.
