Chapter 653: Chapter 198: Reunion (Part 3)
After today, we can openly interact as cousin brother and cousin sister.
We just won’t take the initiative to announce it to the public.
"Bro, having such a badass relative like me, happy or not?"
There was no heart-wrenching reunion scene, and no touching or sad moment.
Both sides were so calm it was scary.
After a while, Yu Haoming showed a knowing smile, patted Su Xiaocai on the head. "Very happy, thank you."
Confirming that he had another relative worth looking forward to, of course he had to be happy.
But deep down he had a faint worry: as a brother he wasn’t as capable as she was—would he become a burden in the future?
Before he could finish worrying, Su Xiaocai said, "Don’t be too happy yet, because you’ve got another cousin. Xue Huiyi has a blood relationship with me, but she can also call you Cousin."
Yu Haoming froze, turning to stone: sure enough, he’d gotten happy too early.
This wasn’t a reunion scene, it was a dog-blood melodrama scene.
"Xue Huiyi too? What part of her looks like us?" In his mind, images flashed of Yu Li and another not-so-familiar younger sister in the orphanage; he couldn’t match any of them with Xue Huiyi’s face.
In eyes, ears, mouth, and nose, there were a few points of resemblance between Yu Haoming and Su Xiaocai, enough to give people the feeling that they were definitely from the same family.
Xue Huiyi was different. Her features were very soft, and she hadn’t inherited the Yu Family’s bright looks.
"So? You specially came to tell me this, what’s your goal?" The two were already familiar enough that Yu Haoming knew Su Xiaocai had her little schemes.
"On the day Xue Huiyi goes to court, you go to court too and put on a show."
Su Xiaocai wanted to know whether Xue Huiyi knew about Yu Haoming; if she did, then what would she do?
Yi Suilu still hadn’t been found, so it wouldn’t hurt to fish for some intel from Xue Huiyi.
"Will your plan even work? My blood relation with her is pretty distant. And she should already know I’m your subordinate, right?"
"It’ll work. Right now, Xue Huiyi is like a fish desperate for water, and she doesn’t know we’ve recognized each other. As far as she’s concerned, she once called you ’Gege’. That alone is enough for you to become one of her safety nets."
Yu Haoming still had concerns. "If I go with you that day, won’t that be basically admitting our relationship is good?"
"How do you know if you don’t try? Just think of it as helping me out, little cousin bro." Su Xiaocai made a heart with her hands.
Yu Haoming looked nervously at Ji Li. "Don’t act all cutesy randomly."
"What are you all so scared of him for? Has he ever done anything terrible to you?"
"That’s not it." Yu Haoming found it hard to explain. "You two are the same type of people."
Quiet Ji Li and lively Su Xiaocai might look different on the surface.
But at the core they were absolutely the same—both were pros at knocking people out from behind.
Su Xiaocai smiled sweetly. "Just proves I’ve got good taste."
With a blank face, Yu Haoming said, "Careful you don’t turn into a lovesick idiot."
"It’s fine. This guy reminds me not to go lovesick mode every minute of every day." Su Xiaocai crooked her finger at Ji Li. Ji Li tilted his head, handed the grill over to Kaye, wiped his hands, and walked to her side.
"What is it?"
"Help me wipe my face, my forehead’s sweaty." Su Xiaocai beamed. Ji Li pulled out a tissue and looked at her face; there wasn’t even dust on it, let alone sweat.
He simply wiped his own face instead, then took another tissue and stuffed it into her hand. "Not convenient for me to wipe, do it yourself."
Yu Haoming understood completely now. Any other guy would be holding the girl’s face and carefully wiping it, taking advantage as much as he could.
Not Ji Li. As long as the relationship wasn’t confirmed, he kept his distance—full marks for moral cultivation.
"See? How could I be a lovesick idiot?" Su Xiaocai spread her hands.
Ji Li glanced at her. "If you’re bored, go chat more with your students. When Ji Heng managed to contact me the day before yesterday, he said they’ve been wanting to find you for several days."
Su Xiaocai hurriedly lowered her head to check the group messages on her comm. She had muted all her groups, so she hadn’t known they were chatting.
They had also set up another group, but this one was a private group that could only connect to the signal here in the lab.
The new recruits’ training was also confidential, but an honorary Admiral still had some little privileges; chatting with the Vegetable Farmers was still allowed.
[Su Xiaocai]: Don’t worry about me, I’m good. I successfully advanced to Level Seven Qi Sensing.
[Wu Qingqing]: Gonna leech off Shifu’s breakthrough speed. I also wanna break through Level Seven Qi Sensing soon so I can ask you for a custom Mecha. Ahem, that move we wanna learn.
[Su Xiaocai]: You guys want to learn it too?
Of course. There was a whole string of replies all saying they wanted to learn it.
Su Xiaocai cackled as she replied.
[Su Xiaocai]: Don’t even think about it yet, I haven’t figured it out myself. You’ll have to wait.
She hadn’t figured out how she’d pulled it off, so she couldn’t teach it for now. Use it once and you’re half-crippled once; even the healthiest body would get worn down.
[Su Xiaocai]: I’ll mess around with a test subject first, then I’ll teach you.
[Liu Xun]: Who’s the test subject?
[Feng Wansha]: Rumor has it Admiral Bai’s on vacation, and the frontline’s been handed back to the generals stationed on Blue Star.
With one sentence she revealed who the test subject was. Everyone suddenly understood; Feng Wansha’s brain really worked fast.
