Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Not a Human

"What... do you mean?" Xiao Qingya’s baby bottle nearly fell down to the floor.

Mo Chen’s lips twitched at the sight. The sight before him was one of the most bizarre scenes he had witnessed over the years.

The ghost Ling Yu, with bloody tears running down her face, was sobbing beside Xiao Qingya.

However, she wasn’t alone. Beside her was her younger brother, Ling Bo, who had returned with them.

"What’s wrong with my little sister, Mr. Mo?" Xiao Yuyan couldn’t help but ask anxiously. The little one had a rich expression on her face; pity, disbelief, annoyance, then conflicted.

"Can our eldest brother be saved too?" Xiao Yuxi added a question.

Mo Chen tried to maintain his neutral expression as he explained. "Your eldest brother should wake up soon. But..." he trailed off, turning to Xiao Qingya with a frown on his face.

His eyes went over Zhou Anran, considering how to explain the situation to the little one’s mother.

"Mrs. Xiao, can I have a moment with you?" He asked. There were too many people in that room.

Even if Physician Bai had warned his medicine boys not to speak of Xiao Qingya’s ability carelessly, the content he was about to talk with her was rather sensitive. The less people knew, the better.

Zhou Anran understood. She agreed to his words and took Xiao Qingya with her.

Nestled in her mother’s embrace, Xiao Qingya sucked on the milk from her baby bottle in an attempt to calm herself down.

[Host, isn’t it a good thing to accept them? You will have a few lackeys... they don’t need to eat.] The System advised her.

Xiao Qingya snorted and gave a huff. She was just a little baby who could barely support herself, and now, the System wanted her to take a few ghosts under her wings?

[They need to inhale incense once a while. Doesn’t that mean I still need to feed them?] She muttered in a conflicted tone.

Her life had surprisingly been a breeze. She was young and just needed to lie down to be a salted fish, but...

Now, she needed to take care of a few ghosts?

Earlier, when the Ling siblings had just entered the door, she thought that they had brought Ling Bo along with them. The young man was quite pitiful. He had to drag his injured foot as he walked.

Fortunately, there was Physician Bai around, and he might be able to find a solution. It was a win-win situation if he could heal Long Bo’s leg, fulfilling Ling Yu’s wish which could unbind her from Xiao Jingran. After that, her eldest brother surely would wake up.

Alas, Physician Bai’s next words surprised everyone. "The ghost’s younger brother also has passed away."

In Xiao Qingya’s eyes, Ling Bo’s appearance was rather normal. His leg wasn’t splattered with blood and his chest didn’t have a bloody gaping hole there. Hence, she mistook him for a human.

Even though he looked pale, she thought it was because he was sick. As it turned out, he had become a ghost!

Since he had died, it meant that they couldn’t fulfill Ling Yu’s wish, and she would remain bound to her eldest brother...

The sudden realization made her anxious. However, the Ling siblings did something unexpected next.

[Little Master, can you take me and my younger brother in? Don’t worry, we will be obedient and won’t make trouble for you!] Ling Yu cautiously asked.

Xiao Qingya’s eyes widened. Ling Yu’s words struck her like lightning!

Looking at Ling Yu and Long Bo’s expectant eyes, she was momentarily petrified and her mind blanked out.

She had just barely accepted the fact that she could see ghosts and even found it novel. Ling Yu’s request caught her off guard.

The Ling siblings became worried, and they turned to Mo Chen for help. Ling Yu had realized how special Xiao Qingya was. She could feel her irrational mind to destroy and hurt someone had lessened by a lot just by standing close to her side.

Ling Yu couldn’t fulfill her wish since Ling Bo had died. Since Ling Bo also had become a ghost, it meant that he also had an unfulfilled wish.

He just wanted to live peacefully with his sister.

During their lives, they didn’t have a good life. As such, they were less resistant to living as ghosts. There was no treacherous uncle or other troublesome relatives to disturb them.

Having experienced the hardship of a human life, they were also not interested in reliving it again. As such, they just wanted to slack off as ghosts, living a better life compared to when they were humans.

In order to achieve that... they wanted to follow Xiao Qingya. Someone who could calm their mind with just her presence.

They were deeply aware that ghosts might dissipate over time or even turn into malicious resentful beings if they were exposed to yin energy for too long.

Just as Xiao Qingya was in turmoil, fortunately, Mo Chen interrupted them for her. He was right; she could ask a trusted adult, her mother, for her opinion!

"Will it hurt Little Ya? Even my eldest son became like this." Zhou Anran was full of disapproval after Mo Chen told her what was happening.

Due to the shock, Xiao Qingya’s inner thoughts were rather vague. Now, Mo Chen has explained it clearly to her.

"Yin energy and resentful aura from ghosts seem to have no negative effect on your youngest daughter, Mrs. Xiao. She is special." Mo Chen paused.

"In the future, more ghosts might be attracted to her. As a precaution, I can teach her some defensive skills against them," Mo Chen volunteered. Despite his cold countenance, he was actually rather gentle.

"Little Ya, what do you think?" Zhou Anran threw the decision to her daughter.

If Xiao Qingya didn’t want to, she wouldn’t force her. However, because Ling Yu’s existence had affected Xiao Jingran, they might need to deal with her or let her find someone else to bind to.

Ling Yu was aware of this and had chosen Xiao Qingya.
