Chapter 167: Chapter 167: He Likes to Hunt
The person’s eyes immediately lit up when she saw Zhou Anran.
"You are here!"
She ran over excitedly.
Now that Zhou Anran had found out about Su Wan’s real identity, she could finally spot some people quietly watching over Su Wan from a distance.
They must have been her servants and guards.
"Sister Anran, I have been looking for you everywhere." Su Wan shook her head. "I asked the Auntie beside your stall, but she doesn’t know where you have gone."
"You haven’t opened your stall for a long time. Turns out that you moved your business to the county’s market," Su Wan muttered, smiling.
Then, her face turned into one of worries. "How is Fenghao and Yuxi, Sister Anran?"
She didn’t forget to greet Zhou Shuran.
"Thank you..." Zhou Anran paused, not knowing how to address her. She didn’t want to disrespect an imperial princess by using the wrong way to address her.
Su Wan seemed to notice the other party’s awkwardness and sighed in a sad tone. "Sister Anran, it’s only been a few months and you have forgotten about me?"
Zhou Shuran glanced at Su Wan and bit her lip, noticing something was off with her sister.
"Call me Su Wan again!" Su Wan said, encouraging her.
Feeling conflicted inside, Zhou Anran found herself didn’t want to disappoint these pair of sparkling eyes.
"Su Wan..." she trailed off and smiled. "Of course I remember you."
She poured a cup of peach flavored soy milk and let Su Wan try it. "We have a new flavor here, do you want to try it?"
Su Wan immediately nodded, taking the cup and immediately tasting it. Then, her eyes lit up. "So, we can add fruit flavor too."
The atmosphere was eased after that. The three women gathered for an idle chat. Su Wan’s servant had found a small stool somewhere for her.
"Hao’er and Xi’er are fine. Hao’er was stung by scorpions’ venom and his whole body paralyzed. He has recovered completely now, running around everywhere," Zhou Anran said helplessly.
Su Wan heaved a sigh of relief and giggled. "Hao’er really reminds me of my brother. He also often went to hunt in the woods. It doesn’t matter whether there was already food at home or not."
She shook her head. "He just likes to hunt things."
Zhou Shuran became more relaxed. "Hao’er also liked hunting for birds and other animals back when we were in Hejia Village."
"Oh, really? They have the same hobby!"
The more Zhou Anran listened, the more alarmed she became. Her heart beat fast, worried they might accidentally bring up the topic of her husband.
Xiao Yuanwei also liked to hunt animals. Everyone in the Zhou family knew that.
Fortunately, they never touched that topic. Zhou Shuran was quite keen. Every time Su Wan showed her curiosity about the children’s father, she always managed to steer the conversation to something else.
Not long after, all of their things were finally sold out, so they decided to immediately return.
"I will visit you again, Sister Anran!" Su Wan told her, smiling wide as they parted ways. Well, not before she gave the Zhou siblings a hug.
Zhou Anran saw Su Wan go to a snack stall, probably buying some snacks for her children. She turned to her younger sister, urging her to be quick.
She was really worried her husband would suddenly pop out of nowhere if they stayed longer. After Zhou Shuran bought some sweets for her nieces and nephews at home, they returned.
For the next few days, Zhou Anran didn’t go to the county’s market to sell soy milk again. It was often Zhou Shuran and Xiao Yuyan who did it.
Su Wan hadn’t visited again, and until two months later, she still hadn’t appeared. It made Zhou Anran breathe a sigh of relief. She secretly wondered whether Xiao Yuanwei had returned to the Capital and Su Wan joined him.
It would make her feel a lot more comfortable.
Ever since she found out her husband’s real identity, she had been feeling rather jittery, fearing he would insert himself in their lives again and disturbed their peace.
"Two more weeks and we can finally harvest the rice again," Xiao Yuxi muttered. "I wonder how much our harvest will yield this time."
Zhou Wenzhi chuckled. With less things and worrisome matter weighing his mind, his countenance seemed more healthy and young. Xiao Qingya also secretly put the supplement inside his drink.
"Magistrate Xu will harvest his fields next week." He told them.
"Next week?" Xiao Fenghao lifted his eyebrows. "It’s quite fast."
Xiao Yuxi turned to Fenghao with a mischievous smile on her face. "Second Brother, how about we make a bet? I bet on our fields having higher yield and you bet on Magistrate Xu..."
Upon hearing that, Xiao Fenghao clicked his tongue. His mouth twitched slightly. It was an outrageous bet.
With their lucky star around, the answer was already decided.
He subconsciously glanced at their youngest sister.
And at this moment, Xiao Qingya was playing with Xiao Xue again, trying to pull its whiskers playfully.
[Host, you owe me two dried fish!]
Xiao Qingya poked its belly. [You have gotten fat. Are you sure you don’t want to diet?]
[I am not fat. You are slandering me, Host!] The System protested.
[What about all of this belly fat?] Xiao Qingya touched its belly.
The System was a little stumped, and then, it self-righteously explained. [Host, your mother gave me so much food. If I don’t make myself a little fatter, wouldn’t they all get suspicious?]
[Do you mean you can shrink back into your previously slim body?]
Xiao Xue meowed, and it immediately evaded the topic. [Host, I can feel that there might be a mission for you soon.]
[What mission?] Xiao Qingya became interested.
She heard the sound of book pages flipping in her mind.
[It’s a kind of life-changing mission... a crucial thing to the plot, so you have to prepare yourself.]
