Chapter 367: Margaret’s Obsession
Looking at his father’s expression, Newton’s expression also shifted, as he immediately became serious. He understood that such an expression only appeared on the old man’s face when it was something very important.
And since it was leaving the old man a headache, most probably, it was related to the family. At the thought of that, his expression became even more grim.
"Father, what is it?" After taking a deep breath, Newton asked.
The old man stared at Newton for quite a while, before he ended up letting out a helpless sigh as he said, "It is about them. They still want our two families to join hands. The same way as before, through marriage."
Even though the old man had not exactly mentioned who it was that he was talking about, but Newton did not have to think much about it to know what he was inferring to.
As he thought about the consequences if things did not go well, his expression shifted drastically. At this point, he also began getting a headache, as he began thinking of possible solutions to this.
But as he thought about this, he was confused. This was supposed to be good news. Initially, there was supposed to be a marriage between Zachary and the daughter of that family.
But because Zachary was in love with Cynthia, he eloped with her, something that had left that family angry. That was especially for the lady who had her eyes on Zachary.
And until this day, despite already knowing that Zachary was dead, she had never been married. In fact, she has never been close to any other man, who was not part of her family, in terms of relationship.
All the men that she interacted with, who were not part of her family, could only be considered as acquaintances in terms of maybe business partnerships and so on. But for personal relationships, non existed.
If there was a possibility of the two families joining together, then, it would be a good thing. First of all, they would be able to make up for the first disappointment.
And secondly, with the support of that family, it would not be much of a problem for them to be able to handle the blood reapers syndicate.
Clearly, since he could think of this, the old man definitely had thought of that as well. Could it be that there were some complications along the way?
Or probably, could it be that the old man did not want to force in one within the family to marry that lady? Or maybe, was that lady eyeing someone from the younger generation?

But as he was still thinking about this, the old man continued, "Margaret has a niece, whom, after her father, who is her brother, passed away a few years ago, she took on the role of her guardian.
So, basically, this niece of hers usually considers her as a mother.
Recently, Margaret probably got to know about Zachary’s death, and the fact that he had a son. And Michael’s information cannot be hidden that much. Even though it cannot be easily found online, it is not as if he can completely wipe his existence from this world, as long as he exists.
So, she got the information on Michael, and understood that he is quite a remarkable young man. Therefore, her obsession flared up.
According to her, even though she failed to become Zachary’s wife, she would definitely be the mother of his son. Of course, she cannot directly adopt Michael.
Therefore, she thought, it would be much better if Michael and her niece got married. That way, she could hear Michael calling her mother."
The moment that the old man finished speaking, Newton was completely shocked. Never had he anticipated such a situation.
It was true, this was very complicated. If it was any other member of the family, there was a possibility that this marriage alliance could go through.
But it was completely different when it came to Michael. They had just cleared up the misunderstanding between them not long ago. Newton believed that the moment that they mentioned anything about marriage alliance, Michael might immediately treat them as enemies.
At the moment, the relationship between the two sides was not great. Yes, they were not enemies, but Michael definitely did not consider them as allies.

But definitely, this issue with the marriage alliance, it was not so easy to handle.
If they let Michael handle this by himself, there was a high probability that Michael would blame them.
Additionally, if it really went through and they had not attempted bringing it up to Michael, the alliance would not be between the Santos family and the Rico family. Instead, it would be between Michael and the Rico family.

The day that she knew that Zachary had eloped with Cynthia, that woman went crazy. She began searching for Zachary, but no matter how much she did, she could not find any trace of him.

But, Newton understood that it was the old man who pulled the strings from behind the scenes, to make it impossible for them to be able to find him.
And when the information about Zachary’s death reached her, Newton heard that she did not eat for an entire week. As for how she survived an entire week without food, that was a mystery to him.
No, with her attention shifted to Michael, things would definitely not be simple. With her determination, she would definitely not change her mind.
