Chapter 68: I’ll Take the Villa
Debbie carefully reviewed the contract from beginning to end. As a lawyer, she naturally paid close attention to every detail.
Several minutes later, she finally looked up and nodded at Lucas.
"There are no problems."
Only then did Lucas relax. Without any hesitation, he handed over his bank card. The transaction process was completed smoothly.
The moment the payment went through, Debbie signed her name on the contract. Everything happened so quickly that Daisy still felt like she was dreaming.
A luxury penthouse worth over twenty-five million dollars had just been purchased. And the owner written on the contract was Debbie.
Even now, she still found it difficult to believe.
Meanwhile, Lucas was feeling completely different emotions. His attention wasn’t on the apartment at all. It was on the system.
He had been paying attention to Debbie’s affection level the entire time. One mistake. One second too late. And things might have become complicated.
Fortunately, he had managed to complete the purchase before anything unexpected happened.
The next moment, a familiar notification appeared.
[Ding! Congratulations, Host! Rebate Successfully Triggered! Reward Amount: $250,000,000 has been deposited into your account.]
Lucas almost laughed out loud. Two hundred and fifty million dollars. Although this amount wasn’t particularly shocking compared to his current wealth, free money was still free money.
And the best part? He didn’t stress himself, the rebate just came to him. Then the system handed him two hundred and fifty million dollars. How could he not be happy?
The corners of Lucas’s lips unconsciously lifted.
Across from him, Mason noticed everything. At first, he thought Lucas was happy because he had successfully bought the property. But after thinking about it carefully, something felt wrong.
Normal people felt pain after spending twenty-five million. Even wealthy people would at least hesitate.
Yet Lucas looked happier after spending the money than before spending it. It was almost as if losing twenty-five million dollars had earned him something far greater.
Mason couldn’t help becoming even more curious about Lucas’s background. What kind of family could raise someone like this?
Buying a luxury penthouse for a woman without blinking. Then smiling afterward. This kind of confidence wasn’t something money alone could explain. It came from upbringing.
At that moment, Mason made a decision. He wanted to become friends with Lucas. As someone who had grown up in upper-class circles, he understood a simple principle. The more capable people you knew, the wider your road became.
After a brief hesitation, Mason smiled. "Lucas. Would it be convenient to add each other on Discord?" Lucas looked up. He didn’t think much of the request. After all, salespeople often added customers to maintain contact.
So he casually took out his phone. A moment later, they had successfully added each other.
However, instead of ending the conversation, Mason suddenly spoke again. "Actually... There is something I should tell you." His expression became more sincere.
Lucas raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Mason smiled helplessly. "To be honest, I’m not really a salesperson."
The moment those words came out, both Daisy and Debbie looked over.
Mason adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses. Then calmly revealed his identity.
"My father is Tom Brooks. The chairman of Empire Group. The Willow Residences project belongs to our company."
Both sisters froze. Chairman’s son? And he had personally spent the last half hour introducing apartments to them?
Seeing their shocked expressions, Mason laughed. "I know it sounds strange. But I wanted to start from the bottom and learn how every department operates. That’s why I’m working here."
As he spoke, he extended his hand toward Lucas.
His attitude carried genuine respect.
"Lucas."
"I apologize for not introducing myself properly earlier."
"I simply felt that someone like you was worth knowing."
"I hope you don’t mind."
Lucas looked at the hand before him. Then smiled.
He stood up and shook it.
"Not at all."
Mason’s smile widened.
"Good."
"Then let’s officially be friends."
"To show my sincerity, any property developed by Empire Group in the future, as long as you want it, I’ll personally help you get the best price possible."
Daisy and Debbie exchanged glances.
Their expressions became increasingly strange.
A few minutes ago, they thought Lucas was the biggest surprise of the night.
Now another rich second-generation heir had suddenly appeared.
And instead of acting arrogant, he was actively trying to befriend Lucas.
Meanwhile, Lucas shook Mason’s hand firmly.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
He truly hadn’t expected that the gentle man wearing gold-rimmed glasses was actually a genuine rich young master hiding in plain sight.
Lucas truly hadn’t expected this.
To think there were actually rich second-generation heirs who willingly started from the bottom and experienced ordinary life firsthand.
Most wealthy heirs he had heard about spent their days partying, showing off luxury cars, or relying on their family name to throw their weight around.
Yet Mason was completely different.
The Willow Residences project alone was enough to prove how powerful Empire Group was.
A company capable of developing one of the most sought-after residential communities in Silvermont City definitely wasn’t ordinary.
Yet despite growing up in such an environment, Mason remained humble and approachable.
He didn’t have the slightest trace of arrogance.
That alone made Lucas view him more favorably.
More importantly, the man had even offered him a discount.
What a genuinely decent person.
Lucas smiled.
"So you’re Mason Brooks."
"My apologies for not recognizing you earlier."
He reached out and shook Mason’s hand firmly.
"I like making friends with straightforward people."
"And since this project belongs to your family, I might as well support your business."
Lucas paused.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"I’ll buy another property."
The moment those words came out, silence filled the sales office.
Even Daisy and Debbie froze.
Another property?
Didn’t he just spend more than twenty-five million dollars a few minutes ago?
Why did he sound like he was ordering another dish at dinner?
Lucas walked calmly toward the enormous sand-table model in the center of the showroom.
His expression remained relaxed.
As if spending tens of millions wasn’t worth thinking about.
In reality, Lucas wasn’t acting.
He genuinely didn’t feel much pressure.
After all, his assets had already exceeded ten billion dollars.
For years, he had lived frugally. Every dollar he earned had eventually ended up in Jessica’s hands. He had rented tiny apartments. Even when he wanted something, he always convinced himself to save money instead.
Now things were different.
For the first time in his life, Lucas felt that maybe he deserved something nice too.
If he could buy houses for other people, why couldn’t he buy one for himself?
Meanwhile, Mason was experiencing an entirely different emotion.
Shock.
Pure shock.
As someone born into wealth, Mason had met countless rich people.
But Lucas felt different.
Most wealthy people thought carefully before spending large sums. Even billionaires would compare projects, negotiate prices, and consider future appreciation.
Lucas?
The man had bought a twenty-five-million-dollar penthouse. Then casually decided to buy another property less than ten minutes later. Without hesitation.
Mason couldn’t help wondering exactly how rich was this guy?
The more he thought about it, the more terrifying it became.
He even began to suspect that Lucas came from one of those mysterious families whose wealth never appeared on public rankings.
Otherwise, who spent money like this?
At that moment, Mason unconsciously lowered his own position in the conversation.
His tone became even more respectful.
"Lucas."
"The penthouse you purchased earlier is already the best apartment unit in the entire complex."
He pointed toward the tower on the model.
"Any other apartment would be slightly inferior."
Lucas looked around the sand table thoughtfully.
Then his eyes landed on the row of villas beside the river.
The villas occupied the most valuable land in the entire development. Every one of them had private gardens, independent garages, and unobstructed river views. Just looking at them felt expensive.
Lucas pointed toward them.
"If there aren’t any better apartments, I’ll buy a villa instead."
The sales office instantly became quiet.
Several nearby employees almost dropped what they were holding.
Buy a villa?
Just like that?
Even Daisy and Debbie stared at him with wide eyes.
Mason couldn’t help wiping the sweat from his forehead.
The villas of Willow Residences were famous throughout Silvermont City. There were only fifteen of them. Because of their prime location and luxurious design, most had been reserved years before construction was even completed.
As far as Mason knew, every single one had already been sold.
For a moment, he began thinking about how to explain this to Lucas without disappointing him.
Then suddenly, the sales supervisor beside him tugged on his sleeve.
"Mason."
The supervisor lowered his voice.
"There is one available."
Mason turned immediately.
"What?"
The supervisor nodded excitedly.
"Villa Number One. The owner is currently overseas. They’ve entrusted us with full authority to sell it."
Mason’s eyes instantly lit up.
What incredible timing.
He immediately turned back toward Lucas.
"Lucas. There happens to be one villa available. The owner has authorized us to handle everything. If you’re interested, I can take you there right now. The property can be transferred immediately if you’re satisfied."
Lucas raised an eyebrow.
"Oh?"
Mason pointed toward the most central villa on the model.
The villa occupied the best location in the entire community. Direct river view. Private landscape garden. Independent swimming pool. And complete privacy.
Even among wealthy residents, it was considered the king of the entire development.
A trace of excitement appeared in Mason’s voice.
"The asking price is two hundred and twenty million dollars."
"And it’s the best villa in Willow Residences."
For a moment, everyone’s eyes fell on Lucas.
Waiting for his reaction.
After all, this wasn’t twenty million. It wasn’t fifty million. It was two hundred and twenty million dollars.
Yet Lucas simply glanced at the villa.
Then nodded calmly.
"Let’s go take a look."
