"Help? That sounds pretty condescending, Rain," Roan furrowed his eyebrows.

"Don't mind your father, he isn't a morning person and tends to say stupid things thanks to it," Leiah said and then hit Roan side with her elbow and made him groan. "This should help him wake up a bit faster."

"I mean, helping indirectly, as an apology for letting things end like this," Rain said. "I still need more information, and I think that I will have to continue working a lot for a while longer. I can't make any big changes as I am now and I also don't want to warn our enemies."

The air in the shelter suddenly became thick with confusion and uncertainty as Rain mentioned something like that. His words caught everyone off guard, especially considering his recent return to them after such a prolonged absence. The idea of leaving out on his own struck a troublesome chord among the group, raising concerns and perplexing the others.

Roan, Danny, and Annie showed complex and troubled looks, clearly perturbed by Rain's unexpected proposition.Leiah and Terra, in particular, seemed to cast silent glances toward Roan, Danny, and Annie, as if to suggest that their apparent aloofness or distant behavior toward Rain might have contributed to his decision.

"... We should at least split the work considering that whatever you are doing must be something that will benefit the world," Roan said while scratching the back of his head. Explore stories on Freewebnovel

"We might be able to do that eventually, but for now, that isn't the best option," Rain said. "We all need to keep improving our skills for when we will have to fight again. That includes me. Some time alone will also help me understand the situation the world is in and feel more the result of losing that time. That will be the best option for now."

Danny and Annie felt like they had to say something to make their father change their minds, but they didn't know what to do or say since they felt pretty awkward.

"If you guys think that you need more strength, you should stay here," Rain said. "Some time in isolation will help you learn new techniques, but if you don't think that you need new techniques, reuniting with others is a good option."

"... I bet Sealyn would love to have us around to give us orders," Annie said while rolling her eyes.

"Annie…" Terra said while glaring at Annie.

Annie attempted to brush off her mother's disapproving gaze at first, hoping to maintain her composure. However, as her mother's eyes bore into her, a sense of unease crept over her. Few things were as challenging as facing the wrath of an angry mother. Despite her efforts to remain unfazed, Annie couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine, and beads of sweat formed on her forehead.

Meanwhile, Danny made a conscious effort to keep his behavior in check. He knew all too well the discomfort that came when their mother was upset. Determined to avoid escalating the situation, he tried to be on his best behavior, understanding the impact his actions might have on his mother's mood and the overall atmosphere within the shelter.

"I can't say if you are wrong or not, but Sealyn did say that she wanted to apologize to you two for acting like a brat before," Rain said. "Talking with her might or might not change your mind about it."

"... Aren't you going to try to sound more convincing?" Annie asked.

"You two are adults, you can decide things by yourselves, you don't need me to convince you two of anything," Rain shrugged. "... She also got a boyfriend… the bastard… I will have my revenge. Anyway, she isn't a spoiled kid anymore. Or maybe she is and just put a facade in front of me. I can't say for sure thanks to my bias."

"... I thought that Mom had a weird sense of humor when he described you, but she wasn't joking," Annie frowned.

"Are they fighting dragons on the ocean?" Danny finally asked and he looked visibly interested. "The sea emperor taught us a few things on how to fight underwater and I think that we can pull it off now."

"Yes, they are… you know, technically, he is your grandfather too," Rain said. "I understand how weird it is to call him that since I also called him gramps."

"He was nice, but he was awkward around us too," Danny said.

"He is an old man at a delicate age, you can't blame him for that," Rain shrugged. "Anyway, what are your plans now?"

"We will rest for three days and then return to the dungeons if you don't have anything in mind for us to do," Roan declared.

"Three days… it is a bit of a short time, but it will be enough," Rain said and then smiled.

Rain recognized that teaching everyone on how his domain operated and guiding them to do the same could be a time-consuming process. Instead, he assumed an alternative approach—expanding the scope of his domain to influence others.

However, before implementing this plan, he had another idea in mind: compelling the system to provide him with more rewards. He realized that obtaining Parameter Boost earlier would have significantly amplified his power. With this idea, he devised a strategy to pressure the system into retroactively granting him the rewards he missed. This approach seemed promising for the time being.

Rain mulled over different approaches, considering the intricacies of how to exert pressure on the system for the rewards he sought. As thoughts swirled in his mind, a spark of inspiration ignited, resulting in a devious yet intriguing plan that brought a sly grin to his face… things were about to get really interesting.

Calculating retroactively the effects of Parameters Boost…

Thanks to the situation, Rain looked like a very suspicious individual, so his family and friends couldn't help but look at him with dubious eyes.
